  1. Id also like to add we could use being able to type in figures. Trying to juggle to a precise number, say 2.6%, can be a brief frustration of 2.4, 3, 2.2, 2.8, 2.4,2.8, 2.6.
  2. Honestly... for 1890 and 1910 the most powerful has been ~900 ton DDs with 6 torpedoes. The work out as: bow most deck 1x2 torp launcher with 270 degree arc that forces enemy into a turn a barbette with a 5" deck gun used during chases and in duelling other DD main tower, funnel, second tower another barbette with either another 5" or a 4" 2 more 2 torp launchers with one as aftmost on the deck with a 270 degree arc Speed 35 knots in this early era. Put torps on off until starting the attack run. As they start the attack detach the lead ship from each DD group. Have it use its smoke (part why you needed to detach it). Chase down enemy ship. When close switch torp to aggresive. Bow torps fire. Target is obliged to turn over the rudder one way or another. Though those first torps missed the turn makes it very vulnerable. DD gets a little closer on the side the target is turning. DD goes into a hard turn. As it turns torps #3&4 then #5&6 will let loose at the broadside of the target. Several of these will hit. Once torps are out steer away to clear combat area for next DD attack run. Repeat with other DDs in formation. The 2 x 5" guns do good work in DD vs DD. The 5" has a longer effective range than other DD guns and enemy 3" or less often not firing or not hitting. The penetration of the 5" is decent at getting engine damage which slows the target reducing firing penalties making for more hits. While not exactly the original post intention, to present big ships, the DD is very powerful. I sometimes send them in taskforces lead by a single CL who strategically would be the long range radio communication while tactically the CL provides a safe haven for damaged DDs to retreat behind. edit: Found a screen shot of this. The 1910 TBU for Torpedo Boat Universal. 37 Knot, 2 of 1 of 5" guns on barbettes to allow 3 of 2 torp mounts to have the best for and aft arcs. In this era the speed will over take the BB 24-25 knot and BC 27-28 knot quite rapidly. Bow torps force a rudder to one side or the other and next launches will score some hits. Send in 3 paths like a trident with 6 or 9 and the mighty BBs fall. Cost is $3.3 M each so a flotilla of nine is about $30M to field. The beam is tweaked down to help with speed though the draught is tweaked up to give a good 10,000 km range to accompany the fleets in most assignments.
  3. duplicate as update with picture came up next
  4. Similiar issue for the ships at sea. Had driven 2 BC around the west side of England to now go into the North Sea. The enemy (Ger) had some CA here and there. So I now wanted to split up the BC for each to chase different CA. After ordering the first BC move order its graphic is overtop the 2nd BC which I now have no way of selecting. Maybe if you mouse over an area a local select menu comes up with all possible groups including ports comes up.
  5. Started a French campaign yesterday and today. I find it takes about 2 days to design the assorted hulls for the techs that are different each campaign. Today was the actual first month, and a bit more. Designing French "Hotels" has been a bit different. Decided to give some of the CL and bigger ones "spacious" crew quarters as tribute to the hotel status. Ive normally played Germany. France right now is a "two ocean" navy with both the North Sea and the Mediterranean to fight in. One encounter had for me 2 of 9" hotel CA attempting to go the north end of the north sea being joined by the local defense team of 5 torpedo boats. The enemy has this AI spawned nightmare of what appears to 8 of two gun 12" turrets (for, 2 per side, aft) for a 12 of 12" broadside. Plus it has ~6 CL escorts. First month I ran away. Second month though a double encounter with them. IT came up as an extension. Turning to flee again the DDs took a little bit to sort out their position. This was when I noticed that hedgehog of 12" BB was slightly ahead of its escort. Turned my torpedo boats around and did a "Smoking Trident" attack pattern. Wrecked the BB. Two TB were damaged and slowed with the enemy CL gaining on their reduced speed. Well now it was time to turn my CA back around. After some torpedo dodges and sinking a couple of their CL I send one CA to follow my retreating TB. One TB eventually sunk to flooding. The design was ~700 ton tiny TB with reduced features so thats not surprising. I'd like t think the CA and other TB had to the time to do a proper rescue of the crew of the slowly sinking TB. The other CA had a merry old time sinking all but one of the other CL who was too far distant to chase down. That whole battle went from an oh crap run away from frankenstien, to the villagers lynching the monster and a beat down on his buddies.
  6. Please switch to a more normal campaign save organization where we can have multiple campaigns saved. I just finished a 1910 German campaign. Now starting a 1910 French campaign I thought to compare my new design to my old ones. I can't. The old campaign is not accessible. Can you please just let us have a normal game mindset of saving different campaigns. It will also be nice to load an already completed campaign so as to look at your designs again. This would also go well with an export/import ship design function. (The imports can mark for change any technologies the current campaign is missing)
  7. Greetings. New to these forums. I see there are some suggestion by month threads but not one for May 2022. If admins prefer feel free to copy this to the right thread. In the campaign map I sometimes wish to send out more than one task force. For example long range fast CA to one distant part of the map, short range TBs to guard the coastline and a main battle fleet of BB, CL and DD to go fight a battle. Current the first group you send out very often is so close in graphics that you can no longer select the port. This means not being able to send out the other groups. Can we please add a side bar button or scroll list for selecting ports. Then we can issue the move orders etc from there. This would allow better fleet management.
