  1. TBH I don't know how anybody plays it right now. I went from having a surplus of 11M to having a 174M deficit and the only thing I did was return my ships to port. NOTE: My monthly naval budget is ~260M. My total budget for Tech/Crew and Transport is ~176M Fleet Maintenance and shipyard development adds in another 68M. I have a 140M fuel cost for 16 ships in 1920 (8 of them Destroyers) which is absurd. Just going based off TODAY'S prices (Based off Bunkerfuel C which is more expensive than what was used) to fully fuel an Iowa class battleship (If I am doing the conversions correctly) in 1920 should cost ~$641,000) (That's converting ton register to gallons to barrels and then multiplying that by $~3 per a barrel) or roughly 10 million of today's dollars. I am fairly sure I am erroring on the HIGH side here. I reiterate from my previous post. Don't start injecting new technology/game play/features into the game until you take care of your core game. These are EASY things to figure out. The total cost to fuel my fleet in 1920 should be roughly 10Million (Not a month just to refuel from scratch) Oh and my entire 16 ship fleet in New York Harbor took more than 2 months to fuel...
  2. I have seen it many times before over the years. Game designers have a great idea. They then decide to overcomplicate things. This isn't Ultimate Admirals the World At War. This is Ultimate Admirals Dreadnoughts. Nix the sub mechanics. Nix the smaller nations such as Spain and China etc If you must have these in the game wait until you have the "Dreadnought" portion mostly debugged. Trying to force these things into the game takes resources away from your core audience and game play experience and will, inevitably, lead to failure. Things like my 12000+ KM range destroyers running out of fuel before they make it from New York to London? That's a ~5800KM trip.. Things like "Look this battleship you designed and built is 4000 tons over the designed displacement... That's TWO DESTROYERS WORTH of added displacement! Get the core product right. Nix the bells and whistles until you do. You will be much more successful
  3. For those of you who are comparing the various gun sizes please make sure you are using the later marks of the bigger guns. I would take any of my 16" battleships in against any of your 12" gun battleships as long as my 16" are fully up to date as is my fire control. The 16" and bigger really don't even start hitting their stride until at least the MK4 version and it takes FOREVER to get to that point. Starting from 1890 on the German side, leaving the slider full for the entire time. It took me until the mid 1930s close to 1940 to get to the Mk 4 16". What has been bothering me is a repair bug I am running into. I don't care how many times I take a damaged ship to a port it never repairs. I have had ships sitting in port for years and the next time they fight they are sub 70% damage for some reason (Taken in the last battle the fought) If you look at the ships on the map they say they aren't damaged.
  4. I am confused about something @Nick Thomadis This is a game where one of the major features is the player gets to design their own battleships and fight the AI with them (As a fleet or individually) but your replies here about players with super battleships or working on critical updates until you far outpace the AI is for the players to build smaller/less capable ships instead of having the AI build either A LOT more ships or fewer, more capable ones? When I play a campaign I leave one of the upgrade thingies on "Big guns" I also research the heck out of range finders, control stations etc. This is my choice (I don't research torps or DDs or Cruisers instead I research on the things that make my ship of choice more effective) and somehow, by doing that, it's my fault the AI can't keep up?
  5. Can you please tone down the maintenance costs? At least on legendary they are quite ridiculous. In being, in harbor (Not a harbor that's too small) they are costing ~16 million each. Adjusted for inflation that comes to ~313 million just sitting in harbor each. The operating cost of an Iowa class battleship (NOT just sitting in harbor doing nothing) was 35 million ANNUALLY in the 90s. Go to sea control and it's now 471 million.. Monthly... Or the cost of one Ford class super carrier every 2 years (Ish) 667 million at sea (The cost of one Ford class roughly every year and a half...) Lord help you if you wind up in a harbor that's too small for your ships. These are ~66KTon ships so not talking about a Super Battleship just a G3 (Playing UK this time) Can't put them in mothballs or limited status because their crew loses experience (Even though you keep the crew slider up) With an average of 75% on all sliders I can keep 5 battleships in being with a small surplus as the UK...
  6. One major issue is the game is automatically moving damaged ships into very small harbors then you are acruing the harbor penalty. The auto battle is also getting worse (3 CAs 1 CL battle 4 98K Ton battleships sink two CAs but experience heavy damage to the battleships that will take months to fix. In a harbor that's too small for them....) Maintenance costs are getting ridiculous if the AI is experiencing the same costs they won't be able to build up a fleet. The game economy has gotten much worse the last couple of patches imho.
  7. I have had much larger forces go against me 500+ on Legendary I like the big battles it just drags so much between starting them and playing them. That battle took over 21 minutes to load
  8. Max bulkheads, Full beam, Anti Torp 2 or 3 (Doesn't seem to matter) Antiflood 3. All or nothing armor scheme with 17" belt
  9. I know all about North Carolina's torpedo hit. A 35K Ton treaty battleship hit in the worst possible spot by a torpedo much bigger than what the TDS was designed to defeat resulting in a small fuel fire in a lower handling room (Pucker factor maxed out!!) but the systems worked and no magazine detonation. This game I have had multiple immediate detonations of magazines on 98K Ton battleships by smaller torps going thru the TDS of these mammoth ships to the tune of about a 40-50% chance of having this happen. Can it happen? In a universe where there is Chaos theory of course it can. Historically it never did but it certainly could. But not at that rate. Heck USS Savannah had a Fritz X go OFF in the lower handling room and not have the magazine explode (Because of the water rushing in from the hole in the bottom and side of the ship) All of the other torp hits on battleships from the hunt for the Bismarck to Pearl thru Operation Ten Go in the Pacific and none resulted in a magazine explosion.
  10. I will admit a cap of some sort is probably needed (Though a high cap of say 250 AI ships or so) Just did a battle where the AI had 545 ships to my 20. Took 21 minutes to load the battle (Had to load it twice because the first time it was going to be 545 to 4 so there was 40 minutes waisted....) then on a very powerful laptop (9th Gen core i7, Nvidia 2060, 16GB of ram and a Samsung EVO 860 SSD) I was getting maybe a frame every 2 -3 seconds when the battle was joined (Before that I was getting about a frame a second) There was literally nothing I could do except the odd course change for my ships. I wound up taking 19BBs that are optimized for long range high diddle diddle straight up the middle loosing two (Of course to ammo explosions or flash fire due to torp hits. Here is a hint for you. A Torp lets in water almost immediately if it penitrates the TDS. You can't really have a flash fire in flooded spaces...) It was basically unplayeable for almost an hour (I didn't want to exit out because I would then have to go back in and wait another 20 minutes to load the game.
  11. There is something screwy with the economy right now (At least I am experiencing it) I have my merchant's maxed out. I am at war. I built 98K Ton BBs that are costing 27 million a month when at sea and I can only afford to have ~6 at sea during wartime at any one moment (And that's with the rest of my fleet in being in port) What has made the costs go up so high so fast? If this is intentional can we at least get rid of the penalty when I put ships in mothballs of their crews loosing all of their experience (Even though I have the crew slider between 75% and maxed out)
  12. I am curious as to why the same ship type in the same port is costing twice as much (Not over the limit) as it's sister ship? Why the same ships from port to port (Making sure to keep under the max tonnage for a port) have such HUGE disparity in cost.
  13. A new bug to report German campaign 1890- Slowly building up everything (Aren't the shipyards eventually supposed to go to 6K per upgrade and not 4k? Mine just staid at 4K thru 1928) First war with France took place ~1928. France disolved and it told me I won and ended the campaign. Was VERY disappointing after waiting that long trying to build up my technology for it to end after 5 battles. Both the Brits and the Italians had navies of hundreds of ships (the Brits almost 1K) that I was look forward to fighting but they were on my side during the war with France.
  14. Can we please tone down the ammo explosions caused by Torps? There isn't any historical record that this happens and a LARGE body of records that say it doesn't. None of the Battleships at Pearl had their magazines penetrated or explode North Carolina was hit by a Sub torp (Long lance) no explosion Multiple UK BBs hit from WWI thru WWII no magazine explosions Multiple other US BBs hit in WWII No magazine explosions Yamato and Mushashi took god knows how many torps. No explosions Kongo sunk by US Sub launched Torps. No explosion. Fuso and Yamashiro struck by several DD launched Torps. No explosion The Italian BBs at Taranto took multiple torps. No explosions The big explosions all took place AFTER THE SHIP HAD ROLLED OVER AND STARTED TO SINK. I took in 8 German BBs all with updated everything all with maximum bulkheads all with at least Torp 2 and Antiflood 3 all with the safest powder etc etc. In one wave of torps I had 3 magazine explosions/flash fires....
  15. Again I am curious just what does it take to keep your crew above trained? I have funded crew at 75% (I don't need anymore crew) I haven't mothballed any of my ships and all of my ships have been in major battles that required lots of damage repair AND dealt at least 60K damage between mains and secondary. I checked and it said they were seasoned at the end of the battle but the very next battle after repairs they are back down to trained. I am also thinking the economy is broken (At least for German/Legendary) since I can't keep 22 battleships crewed in or out of port and make any money if I keep the crew up and at least 50% research (With the merchant slider all the way) over 110% and I still lose money every turn.
