  1. I managed to get the situation largely back under control by beating the Germans so hard I got 2.7 billion in reparations, but that's something I was only really able to do because I was playing as England- It wouldn't have saved me as Italy or China because I was losing core territories. Now I know what I'm about to say will sound a little like "Aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?" But the fact that enemy fleets will actually fight me now is a big improvement, plus the fact that an enemy actually attempted a naval invasion on me was a welcome surprise when it comes to shaking things up.
  2. This is insane. I'm playing as England right at the moment, and am currently at war with Germany, and no matter how well I do in the parts of the game I can control, I keep on losing tons of territories due to things that are out of my hands. I could sink 50 German ships in one turn and be ahead in the war by hundreds of thousands of VP, but my government refuses to sign a peace treaty no matter how many times I urge it because they just can't seem to get enough of losing territory in land invasions. I'm doing absolutely everything I can do as well as it can be done and I'm still going to come out of the war way behind, possibly lose all of my African territory, if it ever even ends. EDIT: Come to think of it, this is the third campaign in a row where this has happened to me: Italy: Do really well at sea, push for peace at every chance, government keeps the war going, lose everything to land invasions. China: Do really well at sea, push for peace at every chance, government keeps the war going, lose everything to land invasions. UK: ABSOLUTELY CRUSH IT at sea, push for peace at every chance, government keeps the war going, lose a whole bunch to land invasions. And it's not like the government only refused once or twice, we're talking eight or nine times at least. So either fix the peace process or let me turn off land invasions, because I'm tired of losing for no other reason than because the AI says so.
  3. This enemy running away thing has gotten way out of hand. I'm currently in a battle where the enemy has six 50,000 ton battleships and I have only 3 30,000 ton ships, and the enemy is still retreating.
  4. The enemy nations still mostly refuse to retain large ships for whatever reason- every time they built a BB, a BC, or even a CA sometimes it just gets immediately scrapped. Also, apparently my war with Italy "Isn't going well" despite having 4x more victory points
  5. Yeah, the province income change has only barely moved the needle on how much money is available. I've scooped up a bunch of overseas and overland territory as China and the new update increased my income by maybe six million in wartime in 1924.
  6. I took a look at the politics scene and found what has been talked about by others- I've been playing China from a 1900 start, and the economy re-jiggering has made it so that the US and France are the only countries that seem to be capable of building any ships of note at all by 1922. Other nations try to build ships, but end up scrapping them instantly, and England collapsed near the start while trying to maintain a relatively modest navy compared to what it should have historically. The only ships that Italy seems to keep after building at this point are destroyers. There are so few potential enemy ships that the only way I can win wars is through naval invasions because that's the only real way to get VP.
  7. Regardless of how much money they might have in the bank, the latest updates neutered national cash flow to a large degree- in an 1890 start, Austria-Hungary can barely maintain 8 cruisers before going into the red.
  8. I'm actually in a situation where I'm playing as Italy and I'm about to get wiped out because of factors that are completely out of my control due to how the land war is going no matter how much I wreck face in the parts of the game that I can actually interact with. This is because my government refused to accept Germany's surrender while they were storming over the Alps.
  9. Clear days are still exceedingly rare- 90% of my battles are still nighttime, stormy, or some combination of bad visual conditions that often add up to -100% accuracy modifiers or worse. And I am on build 3.
  10. I wouldn't mess with maintenance any more. Because pretty much every nation has to cover worldwide colonial empires, you basically have to cover everything otherwise you'll lose gobs of transports if you leave even the most minor site uncovered by a worthwhile force.
  11. There's something off about weather generation. 10 of my last 11 battles have all taken place at night effectively in the middle of a hurricane. And the one that didn't start as one turned into one.
  12. The complaints were because the devs at the time tried to implement realistic gun performance but hilariously unrealistic torpedo performance, with even very early torpedoes being 100% accurate and reliable all the time without being dependent on crew quality and being able to travel a great deal further than their listed maximum range. The other part was that small boats could be insanely durable before changes to the damage model- you could hit a TB/DD with dozens of penetrating 5-6" shells and it wouldn't matter unless you hit different sections of the ship. you could drop all kinds of holy hell on the bow of a 500 ton ship with all manner of guns and it wouldn't matter unless you hit something else.
  13. It's almost impossible to stay out of war at this point. I was getting close to wrapping up a war with England and even paid off the United States, but the next turn I suddenly ended up at war with Germany with no warning and ended up at war with the US anyway. I have been at war almost constantly for 18 years with no way out. Not to mention that nations seem to get angry just from my ships being in port without any aggressive stance.
  14. I'm finding it impossible to stay out of war in my game because my ships seem to be causing tension with some countries just by being in port. I've even set their status to "In Being" and it doesn't change anything. Also, enemy nations can get up to 500 VP a turn for seemingly no reason.
