  1. I know I brought this up before with Nick and I'm glad that you guys are using cavalry. As a playtester for another "soon to be released gettysburg iPad game" I got constantly annoyed about the lack of Cavalry and their minor role in the game as far as beta testing. The history buff nerds of course accused me of being historically inaccurate as there wasn't much cavalry there. But a video game on Gettysburg is full of "what ifs". I mean if we want to stick to historical accuracy we should just let the union win every game. I brought up the fact the if Jeb Stuarts Cavalry weren't intercepted by Custer then they could have possibly flanked the union lines on round top and charged the rear which would have been perfect during Pickett's Charge. Again they thought that idea was stupid. I also brought up the idea that I never thought cavalry was useful until I played the mods that the game creator developed for the TW series and realized that is wasn't about the cavalry riders swords trying to make impossible slashes at the enemy but about a formation of horses charging over and trampling people as well as scattering infantry lines and causing confusion. Maybe charging head on would be a dumb idea, but imagine if troops on any side engaging in a fight with the enemy 100 yards away, when out of nowhere to their right or left flank or even from behind came a group of 100 horses charging them at full speed. I know I sure as hell wouldn't want to get trampled by a horse and wouldn't care if the riders had guns or not at that moment. I also touted the fact that if cavalry came up to arty position, they're basically wiped out (as long as they aren't riding head on into freshly loaded canister rounds, but from the flanks again). Now I've only played the Union and noticed that the cavalry seemed week and wouldn't engage or charge any units, maybe it was me getting used to the system, but it seems like they were just doing hit and run tactics taking pot shots at them and running off. I haven't played Confederates yet, but I hope that we'll be seeing potentially more cavalry, and real uses for them. They can be the eyes and ears of an army but a full gallop at a flank would basically make them essential for taking advantage of potential scouted targets. Thoughts?
