  1. CostomizationModGOGv 1.8.1 First I must thank you for a great Mod to this game. Even at Colonel level it is a challenge. I am now playing at BG Level. I am almost wanting to change back to BG level. I am a Civil War Buff and have played the old BattleGround series by e-mail. I do own and Play Civil War 2. The supply, moral and conditioning are just as important if not more so than effectiveness of a brigade in battle which adds to the historical feel of the game. In vanilla had plenty of officers now I have to swap officers from brigade to brigade in the small battles. Another factor which has changed my style of play is melee, In Vanilla I played fire and maneuver avoided melee, now I had to change my tactics and way of thinking. There are certain things I miss from the Vanilla game: 1. detaching Skirmishers : Historically units would detach them in battle in front or to a flank. Specialized or specific skirmishers where few such as US Vol.Rifle Sharpshooter companies. Larger skirmishers did not come into being till some tine in 1864. In game mechanics it draws infantry and Cavalry charges like rats to peanut butter. Yes a in game cheat to force enemy to charge. I can understand the logic behind the skirmish Units, as drawn from a division not from brigade level 2. The Number of Corps and their size: The vanilla had 5 corps with 5 to 6 brigades with a corps size of 25 to 30 Brigades . It was easier to bring into the large battles the required number of corps and their required Brigade numbers. Also helped to keep the scaling issue down. Now I have 4 massive Corps of 8 divisions 40 Brigades each. Real hard to keep the scaling issue down. I now pay with as small a brigade as possible 1000 to 1200 till right before Shilo. Those 2400 to 3500 rebel brigades are a nightmare, Solution? Artillery and fire control using the pause button and hold fire each and every fire fight and towards the end ammo starved. My question is why the 4 massive Corps in the mod and not the original army organization? Also any way to bring back the original Army organization? Shilo in the vanilla was a easy victory for me, Now had to replay 4 times to get a draw, after army reorganization as as many times and final a victory with my last organization. So I am finding out that each battle even the small ones have to be thought thru even before I commit to battle. Army organization now, Division : two fire and maneuver brigades 1000 to 1200, one melee brigade 2000, one brigade of artillery keeping a sot open for either artillery, Cavalry or Skirmisher.
  2. Go to Utube : UGCW Union Legendary Campaign I learned a lot about the game watching this series of videos.
  3. Check on the top left of the screen in battle or in camp, should say manual
  4. Still a newbie at this game. What I found out so far as A Union player, Division 3 infantry, 2000 armed with 1855 or Lorenz,. Two artillery ,12 10pdr and 12 pd. Nap. 2nd Division 12 24 pd. and 12 20 pdr 3rd Division 12 12 pd Nap and 12 12 pd H , Corps is 3 infantry Divisions and one Cavalry Division of three melee of 500 and two carbine This gives me a total of 20 brigade
  5. Yes I would like to see also faster moving artillery, mainly the 6 pd artillery, love to deploy fast moving artillery with my Cavalry Division. I would think it more historical that theses light guns be able to move faster that the other heavier guns 10 pd or greater. Infantry: Brigades broken down into regiments of 3 to 5. Starting regiment 1000 men. Finally the ability to fortify (dig-in) based on terrain like woods. based on time not being moved.
  6. When it 1st came out I bought and Played AGoD's American Civil War, the Blue and the Gray , Great game , very long learning curve. From that experience, I later bought there CW2 which is the same game with add-ons, redone graphics. An excellent grand strategy game. I do miss the elements, that made up each brigade recruited in this game. The elements I call regiments.
  7. I like to thank GoG for a great game and one of the best since John Tiller"s Battleground series. I love the idea of the career mode and creating your army by Corps. Playability is great and the learning curve is good. Love the capability of renaming each Bde. Btty, and Co. I would like recommendations to a historical mode from experience players here.
