  1. I've never liked the way detached skirmishers behave like modern day special forces dropped behind enemy lines, running around completely devoid of any attachment to their parent unit, able to stand and trade volleys with brigades numbering thousands of men and laugh at death... its one of the absolute worst parts of the game. I've also never liked the fact you can't split brigades down into its component regiments, and either use to cover a quiet flank better or micro manage a position. Like Jacksons brigade at the 1st Bull Run battle. It seems to me there is a solution to both of these flaws in the game. Have you considered replacing the detach skirmisher function with detach regiment or regiments(s)?
  2. Hi dixiePig Are you able to share some ideas on configurations that you have found work for you?
  3. I don't know if its just me, but I've tried static mode and found it completely unplayable as CSA. Straight off the bat at Newport News the Union is an unstoppable steamroller, way OP. I've tried it on BG to see if its any different. How do I dial the union down?
  4. Hi Lava Yes I've used the rush through the centre method in the past to win on day 1, but I prefer to challenge myself to go for historical objectives and strategies I don't want to drop any spoilers, but if you do find yourself on day 2, 28.1 fixes a major annoyance with the vanilla game Nice one Panda
  5. CSA Shiloh is now streets better than vanilla, it's even worth playing day 2 for the nice surprise 👏
  6. Ah ok. Unless I'm misreading it, the hover over text box states 'current army strength during battle' on 4 bars, which is why I thought it was supposed to show on the balance bar. Thanks for the super fast response.
  7. Hi Panda I have 4 points in recon but the current army size just shows 0/0 for both armies in 1.28 Is it fixed in 1.28.1?
  8. First time I've played the game in a long time. For me it had all got a bit stale, but having started a confed play through to Shiloh (so far) with the latest mod, the grand battles changes gives the game a new lease of life. I like the way the extra units drew me into trying to defend Matthews Hill at BR1, and the way the Union now concedes ground and tries to defend the Hornets Nest at Shiloh instead of stupidly getting trapped and wiped out in pockets. Feels more historical as well, and looking forward to seeing what else you have done. Nice work.
  9. I don't really see the point of playing MG when players spend the whole time trying not avoid scaling. Why not just play BG and ramp up the AI experience / increase duplications to make the game a harder challenge?
  10. Hi Panda, I don't seem to be able to get the dragging and dropping merging units to work. Same perks, same weapons, and inside the total unit limit. Is there a trick to it?
  11. Glad you are continuing to develop this mod, probably my favourite as I still prefer I think something closer the original game balance
  12. Haven't played this game in ages, wow this mod has come on leaps and bounds since I last looked at it 👍 Quick Q what does the flashing yellow unit shield mean? Flashing red I guess is troops dying?
  13. It doesn't sound too appealing does it. The battles in the wars of Independance were little more than skirmishes in comparison to the European battles, even the largest barely more than a handful of regiments and 10,000 a side. Sounds very underwhelming.
  14. Sounds like you're a similar player to me. I don't like to game the game (seems kind of pointless to cheat yourself) and I like a difficult but not ridiculous challenge. You can play MG and change a couple of settings in the AI config file: AI scaling and AI experience something or other. I've played around with them before (0.75 - 0.85) but never quite hit the sweet spot. Would be interested to see what you come up with.
  15. Hi Panda, if I limit AI brigade size using AI config, does the AI still scale by adding more brigades? So rather than (say) 5 x 3000 brigades would it scale to 10 x 1500? Or is there a set number of AI brigades in a battle?
  16. I’m tinkering with the configuration to see if I can get this mod perfect for me: I’m not hardcore - MG is my level, I don’t game the game, I like historical size units, and I like to try and approach the plan of the battle in the way the historical commanders did. One thing that is bugging me is the way AI skirmishes charge infantry brigades. Is there a way to dial their AI enthusiasm back so skirmishes behave like skirmishes?
  17. Awesome. I try to play as historically as I can and not game the game, so this sounds like the mod for me
