  1. It would be very nice to rebuild ships:

    - To increase Port Bonusses to a level of the port the rebuild is at, at the cost of the materials necessary to build a new ship, even with replacement of woods

    - Maybe to change the random refit / slot number, for a lot of doubloons and maybe other mats to craft the special refits (bermuda/boston) etc.

It would be a very nice feature that would lower the frustration of getting shitty bonusses/refits on notes, and would still not be overused, since it will cost a lot, and it might be able to bring the diversity of ships a bit back to the game instead of seeing mostly DLC-Ships.

I would even buy this feature as a DLC. And I swore to not buy any more.

Did u read the historic background?

I did not actually, but I am aware that cabbage and similar crops were used to prevent scurvy and other deficiancies with high success.

So I think that you are actually right about the part that makes Sauerkraut a more logical solution for healing crew than rum... but I think something like "medical supplies" would be even more suited. ;)

I would welcome it to see even all three in the game, to make crew handling some more realistic, Rum like you already proposed, Sauerkraut/Cabbages as Scurvy-Debuff-prevention, and medicine to rep crew. But game is not trying to be that realistic in that matter, sadly.

I hope its this ship! But it looks like its too old for this game...
    Netherlands had some beautiful ships!
And ofcourse nice for the dutch people around.

It is not that ship, it is too old, indeed. We have seen the actual ship during the event.

    That one it is.

I must say I have a preference for the dutch ship (Pieter Paulus), simply because it was launched during revolutionnay/napoleonic wars, the timeframe I think NA should focus on for easier balancing.

Nuestra Senora del Pilar was built in 1731, so it is within the timeframe of the game (since Wapen and Ingermanland are even older), and stylewise it fits in, too. It may be called a Galleon, but it does not look like a classical galleon at all.

But I do like the Pieter Paulus, too. I do not quite see a balancing problem due to launching date, despite some ships may be mildly frustating (like Connie due to her rating). Therefore, I want both ships  to make their way into the game.

  5. Since I was present as Charles Peregrine Graeme, I want to exercise my right of self defense and make a statement on the yester events, even thought not speaking for the rest of us automatically.

    1. When you engage a larger event prize ship with no chance of defeating or capping it, others are still free to join that battle for 2 minutes, like always. A parking lot is not your personal property, just because your friend stands in it, trying to block another car trying to park. Green on green damage is and always will be illegal, and it was not executed in that case. But the joining faction does not have to follow your orders or your tactical approach to solve the situation in that particullar or any other action.
    2. And I do not believe I have to explain this. When you do ram a ship, you cannot just say he is "blocking" you. In such a case it is just your own poor sailing. Even on the screenshot it looks quite obvious that we wanted to do a stern-rake-and-board-combination. So why are you running into a ship that is doing an obvious thing by holding its position whilst boarding/gunning crew down?
    3. Even if you do lose your ship during a more reasonable manner than trying to delay others in boarding or whatever you were thinking you were doing, it does not belong to anyone afterwards. Maybe it would have been handed back to you, if you not pissed us of by sinking the Wreker while it was down to 60ish crew without any other reason than pissing us off. You lost it at your own expense, we manned it after it stopped being your ship. Best way for us would have been to just sink it, to have it out of the way, but we were considering to hand it back to you afterwards.

So the definition of griefing is to purposefully shooting or otherwise sabotaging your teammates. We clearly communicated what we were about to do. We clearly stated that we were going to board that Wreker, what by public means involves getting close to a ship, blocking it (the Wreker in this case). You, of course, do not have to follow our tactical approach as a reverse conclusion. But you did know that some big ships were about to get very close to the Wreker.

So your tactical approach was to, I don't know, hello kitty it, maybe we are lucky enough not to ram into the almost motionless setup of ships, that are present during a multi-boarding-action most of the time, while we are speeding along it at point-blank-range. And that is the most flattering interpretation I can do in this case. Of course you have the right to chose such a poor tactical approach. But if it goes wrong, it may be seen as borderline-griefing, since you, by your actions, were sabotaging our attempts of boarding the Wreker, by getting yourself boarded due to poor sailing, blocking and ramming our boarding ships out of a personal or momentary grudge against us.

So yes everyone, please do analyse this as thoroughly as you can. Then you will most likely have a laughter and dismiss that charge.

Did the devs use the plan of HMS Surprise (ex-Unité) or that of HMS Rose ? That's the (not crucial) question.

Due to the arangement of the deck arrangements and heights, and the bigger "belly" of the Rose, I would say ingame is original Surprise. But I do not have any proof, just guessing. Maybe a Hybrid? :)

But I am backing your desire of a remake of her model, since already some redos were done (Vic, Connie), and I really do want a corvette modell in the Connie classics quality. ❤️

The ship had a capacity of 22 cannons of 18pd in the first battery, 22 guns of 12pd in the second battery, 6 guns of 9pd in the alcazar and two guns of 9pd or carronades of 68pd in the stern. Total 52 guns.

I propose to implement this merchant ship of 3rd Rate:

Ship                                             Battle Rating    Crew    Guns    Broadside Weight    Cargo Capacity    Max Speed    Draught    Rate   Min Crafting Level
    Spanish Galleon or "El Pilar"    ?                         460      50          357pd/0pd               6000                      11.30              Deep         3th     35

I love this. The combination of a galleon and a more modern shape, with a more modern stern gallery. Beautiful ship.

Like the stats, too, want to add that with that hull shape, following the logic of the game (Wapen), it should get a 3.-ish turnrate, making it kind of a trading Wapen, able to fend of most of the faster ships, when they are not captained quite well.

Its a hard decision as its very hard to go away from the canon of the british rating system (abandoned in the early 19th)
Constitution is stronger than any frigate and its build strength make this ship rival 3rd rates.
On the other hand its not a third rate.

The only in-game-3rd rate it does actually rival is the United States. It is simply a ship that does not really belong in 3rd or 4th, even though it shares more characteristics with the 4th in-game-4th-rated ships. Only thing it can do better than ingame 3rd rates is running away, which is sad, because it is a beautiful ship.

Thing is, if it was in 4th rate, it would not be as overpowered as Redoutable and Implacable in 3rd, so why not put it back in 4th, make it a valuable ship again instead of letting it rot in a tier it can hardly compete in?

I don't think this should be an issue about whether or not a country had representation in the Caribbean.  Its a game and that means fantasy.  We all want you to sell more copies so that there is more population.  I think you should certainly bring in other nations if there is a demand.  The only issue is whether or not they have a capitol and where you would put that if you decide to go that route.  What if Pacific Nations had a capitol on the Pacific side and have to fight their way into the Caribbean?

I could live with any nation in the game if we divide the game in "Main Nations" and "Liege Nations", give that 2 poor polish dudes at least some players that cannot gank them. Along with that some diplomacy system coming back to the game would be quite nice.

So any game that tries to bring history to life and make things historically accurate...but then allows the player to not follow how history went should be dropped because it's bad?

if we want history to be exactly history, then you read a book about it. We play games set in historical eras to enjoy what we find cool in that setting, not because we want to be strictly bound to what "happened."

so we can't play our 7 years war tabletop games differently because history tells us how it ended up? I feel this type of thinking is narrow-minded.

Thinking a chinese nation should not be part of a 18.-19.-century carribean setting is not narrow-minded, it is a one of some valid opinions even along your own I have to admit, oriented on what certain people expect of a game. But calling people narrow-minded because they have another opinion just because it is more conservative than yours seems a bit... well, narrow-minded as well to me.

  10. Well, some polishing would include

         1. Ship names on the models to be removed, and the ships not to be called for example a "Bellona" or "Redoutable", but a "Bellona-class-SOL" or "Temeraire-Class-SOL" ,

         2. The option to name it out of a pool of names,  that may be extendet by proposal, to prevent missuse (I really don't want to see a "HMS K*ssmy*ass" or                             something comparable)

         3. A Rework of the NPC-naming-system. I am quite tired of encountering russian SOL-Admiral Alfonso Batista.

1.+2. would make the game more sandboxy, and 3. more immersive.

  11. You will have 2 entirely different characters, nothing is adapted from PVP to PVE or PVE to PVP. Your PVP-char will keep everything it has, and your PVE char will start from zero.

  12. You can have a own Character for each server, who are completely unaffected by one another.

So you have to start from scratch, as you assumed, and your rank on PVP server is not deleted when creating a new character on PVE.
