  1. Great, have fun. The side battles with ? yes you can gain exp and resources and of course with all kinds of battles.
  2. Well, you bought it already so why not start playing it? Yes, it's early access and mostly it plays pretty good and it's still in development. Now when they in the past updated the game sometimes they fixed something and sometimes they broke something else. I stopped playing the campaigns due to the last patch for I think in the American campaign I do the objectives and the game gives me an unfair defeat which ends the campaign on the first battle for me. In the British campaign on the second battle it gives me an unfair draw even though I did the objectives and so the problem would duplicate for other battles to getting unfair draws which drain your resources so it would end the war. Now in the past I was able to play both campaigns and win them several times and enjoyed them even working through bugs. In the past nearly two months no updates and the last update is what screwed up the campaigns for me so I have no interest in playing them until they fix them. Most of the players really enjoy this game and I do too. You just bought it so freshly install it and it may work flawlessly for you but do expect a few bugs or glitches.
  3. Well, that is great news, thanks, I have to say because I was disappointed about all the sea battles near the end of the British campaign but don't get me wrong I like them but there was no land battle in there so for many turns, my transports with a ton of marines were just sitting in my harbor doing nothing but the upkeep cost was a lot each turn. Had I known that at the time I could have sold all my transports, send the marines to the reserve pool then with all that extra money I could have bought the best guns for all my war ships and max the crews using my marine reserves. So thanks again, I might not have to use that strategy after all. Kudos!
  4. There is also an upkeep cost for the number of troops, trophy's, reserves and captives that you may have in your harbor. For example: If you have an SOL trophy and you keep it in your harbor for a few turns until you can make enough REP to unlock it but each turn you take you will be paying an upkeep cost although true once you unlock it and add it to your fleet you will also be paying an upkeep cost. My point is, if you haver a lot of trophy's in your harbor it is best to do something with them than just leaving them there for their upkeep cost will add up. Even the captives will cost you upkeep until you can get rid of them, when the game gets around to sending you a letter so you can sell then for some money or REP. Some times the game went many turns before giving me the letter to sell them which every turn until I got that letter, there was an upkeep cost. Every penny counts specially in the American campaign.
  5. Just started a new hard American Campaign, 1st battle, I capture 1 enemy ship and sail it to the red safe zone along with my two ships for they are taking too much damage from the remaining enemy so we retreat and at the beginning of the battle the game says we can't win the fight so they show us a red zone. I have green objectives so I should get a win but why did the game give me a defeat and end of war? F11, I am playing version 8.23 REV 35062 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2118128423
  6. One update I still have them then in another update they are gone. Are you working on them or are you removing that feature? I liked being able to sell the prisoners for some money or REP?
  7. V8.11 rev 34838, I got to this battle and once all the ships are fighting it suddenly freezes continues to play music and sound but nothing else in the game works and the only thing I can do to get out of it by ctrl alt del close program. I don't recall the game ever doing this to me. I tried the battle twice I get in it start fighting the ships having fun and then that happens and I can't even send an f11.
  8. In the battle Guns in the Desert for a couple times I played it I noticed you have our ships deploy into battle area that is near the top and right borders and there is also a low shore area there too and as always our ships deploy in a long line. As they deploy the first two or three ships come out and we can get control of them and then we can direct them but it seems the other ships start to tilt to the upper right and the angle is aiming to the top border and of course we don't have control of them from where they start before they come out and what happens is whether you as a player pay attention to that or not, what can happen is for a couple of times happened to me. Two of the ships that came into ocean and went to the top border for it is right there and retreated and the other time I caught them just before they would retreat but they are now trapped between the top and right border and the low shore area which they can't sail over so I had to deploy lifeboats from them there. My last four ships were transports so maybe they have a problem matching the line up to the two war ships that already had deployed? It's not a bug or a glitch so I just have a suggestion that would help in avoiding a deploying problematic area that is near the top right corner that also has that low shore area all you have to do is have our ships deploy into the battle midway down from the right border where the open ocean is and by doing that simple thing there would be no way that problem would ever exist for anybody. I am sure no player would enjoy one or two of their ships retreating out of the battle which for me was 1k of sailors I didn't get to use, or having a couple of their ships stuck between top border, right border and lower shore area. This is a great game and I am not saying anything bad it's just a suggestion for this battle.
  9. I think you are on the right track! Once complete with your intended product I too, would like to see some new content in DLC. A couple of new campaign's such as French, Spanish or whatever you think would be interesting to us. I remember, Battle of Empires 1914-1918 came out with a base game that gave you a few campaigns and then they made a whole bunch of different DLC campaigns which they did A OK and you by the way already have a great game and you're working to finish it as planned. When you are at that point, most of us would want some more content and are willing to pay for it. A long time ago, Atari came out with TOEE and after a year they didn't support, it might have been just half a year but don't quote me on that. The great people at Co8, made a mode for free that fixed bugs and they actually added so much new content and stories which Atari had planned but never did. I am Not asking for free content. I only wanted to show you two examples of what the future was for those two games made by others. (Epaminondas) really does have a great idea for a meaningful campaign DLC. Just some words for thought.
  10. Weird how come I can't see the picture I uploaded is that private to a DEV or am I missing something. All that picture just shows is an instant defeat and no data for no battle took place?
  11. V0.8.7 REV 34762 before this update I beat the subject battle after this new update it gives me an auto defeat when the battle begins. So on V 0.8.6 REV 34728 I got an unfair defeat in Valcour Island and another unfair defeat in Glorious June so I ask what could be the problem? I have not gotten to the Glorious June again because Escape From Toulon is broken and took rep from me and only gave me 9k and I didn't even get to fight in the battle it ended the moment it started and I will tell you I noticed something was weird when I was placing my 6 ships into deploy slots I noticed the screen was just ocean and no ships icons where showing spots like you would see some enemy ships or something like that. Just think all of these things happened to me in just the past few days. Funny thing is in V8.6 I got past this battle, the battle that stopped my was Glorious June giving me a unfair defeat when I captured 8 transports and my 4 war ships went for fleet retreat and I get a defeat. I thank you for the game I love it but I am amazed I got though a ton of battles but these three issues are problems for me all of a sudden. Of all the weird things that happens in this game over the past half year this one through me for a loop. Picture below shows no data it's an auto defeat the moment you get into this battle from the new update today. I put my 6 ships in deploy window and I click start battle and this is what the game shows me. If you click any tab on the battle report there is no data, for the battle never happened. It will take away a good bit of you REP and give you a little bit of money. I played this the second time to make this picture to show everybody what I am talking about.
  12. in American after furs there is raid then battle of valcour island. and in Britain after grand hiver is glorious june
  13. Am I the only one with this problem? Any comments? What I had to do in this battle was tough. I brought 3 explosive ships to take out 3 of those tough 2nd or 3rd rate ships which are many more than I can deal with. The explosive ships are apart of what I wanted to get rid of anyway from my Navy. That being said I had 5 war ships left and one of them got blown up by the 3rd rates that were left. So I had 4 of my war ships left and I captured 8 of the enemy transports and most of them were the big ones. Now, I don't remember how many total transports there were in this battle but I thought capturing 8 of them was great so when I seen my war ship got blown to pieces by those many 3rd rates I knew it was time to get away like the game told me to do so I sent most of them with the wind to a border to retreat from the battle, that's 12 ships and the game gives me an unfair defeat. There is no red zone that I am aware of in this battle but even if there was one I would not have the confidence that it would work correctly seeing it didn't work in Valcour Island battle where I also got an unfair defeat too. So the end of story is am I the only one with these problems?
  14. F11, anyway, just played it today on hard and the short story is I captured 8 transports and I lost 4 of my 8 ships in that battle so a total of 12 ships I sent to retreat and for some reason I get a red x on fleet retreat and a red x on eliminate enemy so you only need one objective to win the battle and at the start of it they tell you to get as many transports as possible but even if you don't get any it says you can retreat but I fought for a very, very, long time and got 8 of them and the game gives me a defeat very disappointing! I know it's EA and thanks for letting us play it early but I do have to let you know the game is not working like it should. I already reported on Valcour Island red zone buggy defeat now this one is messing me up in the British hard campaign. I sent the ships with the wind does it really matter which border they go too when there is no red zone?
  15. Thanks for your info. I was surprised in that battle I had to face a 5 pack of wolves like that and me getting rid of my 3rd rates was foolish for I still had to face that force with out them. I had to use the money from those two, 3rd rates that I sold to buy two sloops and I had to convert one of my transport ships so those three ships became explosive barrels. You start the battle against four, 5th rates, which I can handle them but my ships become a little depleted too, then I get a few reinforcements which was my troop ships, one 5th rate and those three explosive barrel ships and the enemy brings in two, 5th rates along with five, 3rd rates of 680 regardless of what you bring. I used two sloops to take out two of those 3rd rates on fire, also using my slow transport I somehow, got lucky, the last three, 3rd rates came at me two abreast and one in the back so my transport glanced off one of them setting him on fire and somehow went a little distance and kept on sailing enough to hit the one that was in the back and set him on fire too, I was supper happy at that point now I only had to deal with one of them left. Which, if I didn't get lucky by taking out 2 birds with one stone I would have had to face two of them and that would have been a big problem for me at that point. So, the last 3rd rate of 680 came at me and I surrounded it with my four, 5th rates and seeing how tough that 3rd rate is it took hours of pounding and when it got down to about 250 men I took everybody from all my ships got to 550 and boarded it and won it barely. I know I am playing hard so hard it is. I am just giving this info for giggles. Do you see what it took me to take one of them over now think how could I have done that if all five of them surrounded my ships and what that would have been like. That one, 3rd rate ship, only after hours of hitting it, I damaged two mast and half armor and by the way when I got to harbor I had to spend 3k to 4k in repairs on all my ships. I don't even think I have enough force or money to continue and fight the next sea battle. It's a challenge for sure!
  16. On hard difficulty, I was in a battle against five, 3rd rates of 680 men each to my two third rates, of 500 men each so I went back to harbor and sold off my two 3rd rates thinking I would lower the scaling because now I only have 5th rates in my harbor so I then started the battle and the same five, 3rd rates still showed up so nothing changed. Does that mean in the hard campaign we can't affect scaling or bring it down a bit by what we have in our harbor?
  17. Another point, due to maybe early access or a programming error, if the red zone can't figure out what my three ships are, the ships I captured, and any friendly ships that are able to sail into the red zone then your going to have to make same type of change to this battle? Keep in mind, the wind changes in this battle when the phase changes and because of that, at times, there's one or two friendly ships that the wind pushes them to the shore or a ship losses it's rudder and goes around in circles at zero speed so a player can't do anything about that. So what happens is I send all the ships that can sail into the red zone and the moment the last one gets there the battle won't finish because of those two stuck ships. The remaining enemy ships near the red zone now have to sail against the wind to across the map to find and get into a position to destroy those two stuck ships. I had to wait for nearly one hour of just watching the screen for the enemy to slowly travel to destroy those two stuck ships and the moment that happens the game gives me an unfair defeat! WHY? Does this battle think that because the enemy destroys those stuck ships last, so it thinks it's my ships and gives me an unfair defeat? Please do something to this battle? Fix the red zone! I suggest to also end the mission the moment one of our three ships goes into that red zone, so a player doesn't have to waste an hour of their time just watching the remaining enemy ships travel across the map against the wind to destroy any stuck ships we have no control of so that is why something needs to be done? Why should I continue the campaign when it gave me an unfear defeat therefore my rewards are nulled and it's not fun. I don't mind getting a draw or defeat in the game if it's my fault but when it's the games fault that is unfair!
  18. I sent 2 F11 reports one last night and one today. I just need to hear from somebody as to why this is happening? If you know about this battle there are only two objectives eliminate enemy and or fleet retreat so when the phase changes you are suppose to send your fleet of 3 to that zone if you are not strong enough to wipe out all the enemy ships Steam version 0.7.5 REV 34513 I think. Last night I played it 4 enemy ships left all my 3 ships and 6, I captured I put it the red zone. One friendly ship is stuck on shore so enemy kills it battle over is a defeat why? Today, I played it again thinking maybe I could kill all the enemy ships and maybe I would get a win that way but it was too hard for all ships have just a few sailors on them. This time only 2 enemy ships left, I captured 2, 6th rates put my 3 ships and the 2 into red zone there was 2 friendly ships stuck on ocean shore and wouldn't move so I don't know when the battle started but I can tell you the amount of game time when it ended at 2230. So how many real time hours was that I wasted for it to end and it was very frustrating defeat. Those two enemy ships left had to go from the red zone border to middle of the map against the wind to destroy those 2 ships stuck where one ships has 1 sailor on it and the other ship had 9 sailors on it once the enemy killed the ships like ducks on water and it ends in a defeat. So how is the red zone in this battle programmed? Either fix this red zone bug or and make the battle more balanced to make it more fair to the player. Either let me bring in 6 ships instead of 3. Or take away 3 of the enemy 6th rate ships to make it a more reasonable battle if you are not going to fix the red zone? The Red Zone should be programmed, to end the mission the moment one of my or the players 3 ships gets into that zone when the phase changes. That way if a friendly ship is stuck on the map which at that point we have no control of it so a player should not have to wait until way at night around 2230 by time the enemy gets there to destroy them and a player like me doesn't have to waste hours and hours of gameplay. Please help. Red Zones should work!
  19. I am not sure but I look at it as a positive as opposed to a negative. When I look at all things in this game that is related to stats a + 25 % means to me I am 25% better at it than not having that perk. If I am 25% faster at reloading then again I think I am better with that perk than without it. When you buy guns it's shows stats so I look at perks to improve those stats.
  20. I haven't used sail repair kit. My question is would it just repair the sails or would it repair the mast too? Enemy seems to knock down my mast more than I can do to them it's almost like a 10-1 ratio.
  21. I use repair kits all the time so when I get to harbor my repair costs are low as far as putting more armor on a ship I am not sure for I never do that but as for repairing the armor it works good for that is the ship to use that can take the damage while other ships that don't have repair work in areas where they won't take the main hits from a enemy ship.
  22. OK, just for giggles: I was off on my 1 or 2 million guess. Just after the battle The Chesapeake when in harbor I saved game. Normally at this point I would repair ships and set perks and stuff like that to get ready for next battle. What I did was repair all ships I had 16 war ships, 7 transport ships and 8 trophies. I sold all trophies so I ended up with 173 RUP. I transferred all my sailors into the Reserves so I ended up with 9,829 and the end stats for all of them were: Intelligence = 58 Dexterity = 67 Strength = 36 Perception = 42 Will Power = 43 Endurance = 65 I also transferred all my officers that were on the ships to the Reserves pool so I ended with 95 of them. I removed all guns and upgrades from the ships then sold all the ships I also sold all the guns that were on the ships and I sold all rifles and army cannons and mortars. My grand total of money was 1,306,482. Now everyone of us will have more or less than what I did there are so many variables that will play in this for each of us. So my point is could you give us a choice after Chesapeake for I would rather have what I just showed you of what I did in a normal American Campaign to this point and I would prefer to have all that money to buy what I want to fight the last three battles instead of the game giving my five ships and a 115K and only 40 REP? When some other battles end we get a choice to say fight a sea or land battle or they will give us a ship or money or different things so all I am asking is there a possibility we could have a choice to say convert what we have into money or you give us what you already give us an that is that the end?
  23. I am not sure what the USA, did back then in that time period about all the Navy and Army things we could not afford to keep. The player, by the time we finish The Chesapeake battle we have such a great Navy, (so many ships to count, plenty of money, plenty of rifles and guns and personnel, and a great amount of REP. I could load a save after the Chesapeake and sell everything I have and I would probably have well over a million or two in dough so what did the USA do back then and does this game reflect that? The USA could have sold their ships and other things to counties like France, Spain, and England just to name a few. They could sell or melt down all the rifles and guns too. I can't think that they would have magically wiped them all out for a trifle gain. In the game, we lost all the best stuff we gained throughout the campaign, sure the game gives us five ships and maybe 115K and I think 40 REP, maybe it could be due to difficulty I am not sure but wiping out our great Navy was a sure disappointment. I guess, I can understand by doing that it gives us a new challenge on how to handle the last three battles in the US campaign and I got through it so I am not complaining about that too much I am just pointing it out and I wonder about the reasoning and I would hope we could have some type of choice after Chesapeake, that maybe we could be given the opportunity to sell off all that we have gained and then roll into the last three battles using all that money we could then build our new Navy the way we would want too instead of the game just giving us those five ships? I don't think this would affect the balance of the game due to the scaling in this game? I wonder, what you all think about that?
