  1. but why? you know we would only see the biggest ship as we do now right? it would be unhealthy for the game, and does absolutily not create immersive gameplay as the devs have made in the game description
  2. so you're telling me that you cant craft a 1st rate? if you pve or trade, you can just buy the victory marks or even permits, let alone get the permits drop from chests.. You can pvp and sell combat marks for permits or VM. In ANY game that i've played aswell as ALL sandbox games i've played there is no other game that has such easy access for the best "gear" (if you can call it) available.
  3. what is good for the game? If all ships didnt require permits there would just be meta sailing with the heaviest ships and there would be no diversity. You can already see that with the trinc, there is literally no reason to sail any other frigate, the only time time people sail any other frigate is because they feel obliged to so it doesent rot in the port. i think the devs played it poorly when they chose what ships to need permits and what not, i personally dont think and its not healthy for the game that you can pump out l'oceans with so little effort, the 2nd and 1st rates in NA should be the legendarys for the game, not the meta. Hopefully the BR will fix some of that, but i still think that 2nd and 1st rates should cost alot more in resources
  4. strange how the diana is as rare as the 1st rates should've been, it would actually been a wow factor when we would have seen one
  5. its actually strange how they didnt pick the Cherubim frigate as the no permit cost frigate, because i never see someone using it and it should normally be the GO TO frigate, but instead we have the 2nd strongest 5th rate to craft with ease. Its so many decisions that have been done that i dont understand. Yeah weird aswell. I can come up with 2 things on the top of my head they can do to make the pavel more favourable over the bucentaure without editing the stats. French lineships highest gundeck armament should be the 36pd, that would be a unique feature, and would give the pavel a ranged firepower advantage. Allow only russian ships to be equipped with edinorogs. This would also favor the Ingermanland since the go to ship in the 4th rates are the carronade agamemnon.
  6. true, think the better idea would be to setup contract for delivery of some goods in port x, players have the bids for it first and if not a player has taken it, the npc will deliver it for the cheapest price for the player
  7. the whole pirate faction needs a remake. It should never be on par with other nations in therms of SPECIALLY the RoE. The pirates ar outlaws, lawless, they are pirates for a reason, they are outcasts of their former nations, they are wanted for several reasons and nothing in the game reflects any of this. Earlier they used to have the outlaw mechanic that the devs removed due to Reinforcement zone exploit (which made many players quit ASWELL) well where is that zone now. That faction should be the full on PvP faction making their own laws between clans. The times were so simple back then, if you had an argument against an other player you could duel it out and be done with it, IT WAS SO EASY, and it was just what sandbox was about. To become a pirate you had to do do a felony against your own nation, no one were "born" pirates, you became one, but due to people "skipping" warnings that by doing a felony you would become a pirate, THAT was removed aswell. Some mechanic for a pardon would obviously have made this better without the devs catering to the cry babies that "didnt see" the warning two times before they engaged an ai from the same nation. Probably alot more i could mention, but we also have the Pirate Frigate, i remember seeing one 3 winters ago, rare as hell, reason was that only pirates could make them, they were the maniacs managing to build a frigate that could be equipped with 12pd longs on the weatherdeck without loosing its stability. But people cried about that aswell, the permit was tradeable and in the end everyone could make it. You can say what you want about the mechanics that they were bad and only made the game "harder", but these UNIQUE mechanics was something that made the pirate faction special, you felt that a pirate would probably show no quarter against other nationals and if you were a pirate yourself, you would probably be friendly towards other pirates because you wouldnt want a problem with that player or that players clan and it was not another mirrored "nation" like even GREAT BRITAIN!
  8. The game is starting to have such low player pop that cpt reverse asking christendom to not screen out the brits attacking port-au-prince because they want a battle vs them. Just bring back the battle room already
  9. should aswell now redo the 36pd cannons to "Usable on lineships of french Origin" also so they are usable on bucentaure aswell
  10. @admin will we se the Le'Redoutable as the FIRST INGAME 74 with actual french guns outfit? with the possibility for the 36lb gundeck setup?
  11. nope, you can spawn in a ship that is so close to sinking that its nothing you can do, its no way near a normal pvp engagement
  12. it would be a great idea in general to make it possible to set up contracts for npc's to deliver goods to your port, It would make a natural market and would certainly be better then having mahogany grow far north in the United states or pine trees down in brazil. And it has also been suggested earlier Although im not for it to be some kind of "Premium" to unlock this feature, it should something that should be some of the foundation for the economy, Supply and Demand. Have you guys seen the show Shipping Wars? lets inspire from that. Say you can put up a contract in Panama for 1K White Oak. The contract sits there for x hours, you set a due date of when you want it delivered (if no players takes the contract or gets an agreed contract between the trader and the contractor, the order goes to the NPC for the cheapest price). Which means that if you dont want the offer from players which would be delivered quicker then you can wait for the npc's to do it cheaper but wait abit longer. The payment i guess would have to be done when the order is delivered to prevent griefing/exploits. How will people know there is a contract for it in Panama? In each port there is produced White Oak, you have an economy/trade tab where you pick up certain missions, or it could even be in the Store, an own page called "Delivery orders". There it would be contracts from players requesting items delivered to them. It would say the name of the contractor, delivery destination, x hours left until contract falls, due date, type of item and quantity, as well as the currently lowest bid on the contract. I would assume this would give a fair competition between the traders and a fair price for the contractor.
  13. isnt it the devs responsibility to fix this balance between nations, or have i missed the point?
  14. think ive seen this suggestion a dozen of times Better quality on the ship of same type (fore aft) etc, unlocking ability to craft certain ships depending on path, shallow, deep, frigate, schooner, man o' war quality etc. GL with the suggestion though
  15. girls, imagine if this was a sandbox where we could do whatever we wanted and the colors on our nation flags showed in battle, determined if we wanted to be on teams or not in battle? amirite?
  16. for all we know Captain Smile just sucks at the game 🤷‍♂️
  17. There is gonna be a BR rebalance of ports which makes rvr more accessible for all players combined considering a small clan can defend vs big one (bringing bigger ships etc). From what admin said it will happen this week and i would guess that some of the players that left because of that will come back, so if i were you i wouldnt fully commit to a faction just yet
  18. he said "Still as many 1st rates as possible. I've watched many vids on port battles over the years, and I've never seen diversity of ships in port battles, no matter what the BR was. Sure, you see the occasional 3rd or 4th rates, but looking at their rank will explain why." I spent 2 minutes on my clans discord to find some of the many ss we have with diversity in PB fleets which were possible from autumn 2018 to spring 2019 until they changed the BR back to the 20k one. So the point is, if he hasnt seen any diversity in pb's over the years its 1 because it was only possible over a course of 4-5 months because earlier it was locket to either 1st, 4th or 6th rates, and 2 he hasnt seen much of the rvr videos from that period of 4-5 months
  19. depends, regarding no alliance system and the way we are heading with the population we might have 1v1 PB's soon
  20. spent literally 2 minutes to find these pictures. Both port battles have a huge diversity between them, unfortunately the bucentaure was the deal back then but i guess we can all agree that having 450br on Bellona and 460 BR on Bucentaure while the l'ocean/santi/victory was on 600+ made no sense. And BTW "Must be some lower rank that fills spots" out of those two battles you see that minimum 80% were max rank, but isnt it better to have lower ranked players be able to experience rvr instead of having it as a requirement that you NEED to have 900 crew to MAYBE join a port battle? Hello?
  21. there will always be some kind of meta, but the best way to avoid it is to decrease the BR of the ports, increase the BR for 2nd and 1st rates as in rediiis suggestion. This will minimize the meta because you can either defend with 14 players or 25 players but with smaller types of ships and different tactics, but the suggestion you're proposing Yes it will bring diversity in therms of rates used in a port battle, BUT if a nation cant fill those spots up they will have the disadvantage in therms of player numbers AND firepower : player ratio. I thought about this same suggestion months ago, even proposed it to the suggestion forum, but for the suggestion to work you would need to have BR limits within the highest rate, say the port is 15k br, you can bring 50% 3rd rates, 30% 2nd rates, 20% 1st rates. For how much BR that is left in the rate above, it is transferred over to the next ship rate and so onwards, and this would allow 15 players have the same BR as 20 players because they have an other ship lineup. And "With BR people don't use 3 3rd rates to match 1 1st rate, as you say. That's true in theory but in practice it doesn't happen. " its true that in practice it wont happen because it depends on the players, you see players even myself take down sols with carro frigates with ease because of the difference in skill, same goes the other way where you have Ram Dinark that can take out 5 inexperienced sailors with the same type of SoLs as him with his one ship. But we all know that in the perfect world and if the game actually was a sandbox, we wouldn't have to do hostility missions to trigger a port battle, there would be no maximum numbers in one instance, but thats not what we have now (even though we were fairly close some years ago)
  22. my problem with this system is that it creates a meta no matter how you see it, those 3 first rate WILL be 3 l'oceans, as the 3rd rates WILL be bellonas, and the math is simple, when there is something you can maximize and there is ship slot based people with say 10 players cant compensate for the loss of amount of players. This is why in this kind of game since we have battle rating on ships we are able to compensate in battles just as if we have OW battles where two l'oceans 1800BR is equally matched (in theory) with 3x 3rd rates + 1x 4th rate. With the BR changes to a port battle we might see different tactics , do we split and cap 2 circles but risk getting caught in a brawl vs heavier lineships or can we trust our players to outplay those heavier ships with smaller ones and win without a brawl. Even fireships etc comes to mind. This system works IF there is a guaranteed way to fill in all the slots so its equal numbers on both sides to start with or else the side that cant fill it wall will always be in a huge disadvantage
  23. ill had to admit, looks promising just one thing i would suggest to add to the micro investments, instead of the hard resources like we have on everything, maybe delivering ingame goods would be a better thing than the resources, im not kidding when im saying there are probably 100 types of goods ingame that arent used for anything since we now have the delivery missions, bring these stuffs into the scene again imo
