  1. I still get damaged ships in my task force unknown to me until combat starts. I still get damage done before the battle counted against me in VP. I still can't select ships to stay out of a fight. So I still have 18 knot BBs with my 30 knot BCs trying to catch 22 knot cruisers.
  2. (more) things I'd like. A more comprehensive manual. There are features I have never found. A way to reduce the size of pop-up messages. The can sometimes obscure things I'm looking for. A way to adjust "internal" placements of engines, fuel etc. To better balance the ship. Biggie: a library of historical ships that can be used in campaigns.
  3. I do make use of focused tech. I will try to limit that. I also do not build a new class of ships every time some new gee-gaw is available. I do refit my ships often. Thanks.
  4. I am playing the US. I have set my funding for technology to "full" but find myself behind in technology. Why? How do I correct this?
  5. My "thing" is custom gun sizes for each class of ships. I know that many nations would produce "one-off" gun sizes for individual ships or classes of ships. The "supply chain" issues for this would be hideous. A nation that only made one type of 5-inch guns would be able to focus on the manufacture of one size of shells. Standard weapon sizes/calibers should give a supply/cost advantage. I should be able to "refit" ships under construction if a new technology becomes available. Submarines need to be included as part of power projection and invasions. Commandos inserted by submarines can play a part in strategic operations. Please update the documentation. How do I balance a ship? I want to reduce pitch and roll, but I have learned a few things, but it is still exasperating trial and error.
  6. So far as I know, I have the most recent update. However: I have no way to sell ships. I have no way to mothball ships I have seen a screen shot on Steam where the "POLITICS" screen includes sliders to affect political interaction, but this is not available on my version. Did I miss a memo!
  7. Neither problem has been addressed.
  8. As I understand things, Pearl Harbor was available to the US by 1890. It should be available to US vessels in the game. There also needs to be a wrap-around map, as operations in the Pacific are clumsy at best.
  9. Why can't the US use Pearl Harbor as a port?
  10. I use armor to balance the ship as much as possible. This can be effective, but for smaller ships, it isn't effective. For CA an bigger I have 6 inches of main deck armor. This reduces Pitch and Roll. So does Main Belt armor. Fore and aft armor, deck and belt, can counter fore/aft offset. But, it would be much appreciated if there were some suggestions on how to balance a ship. AND I thing some of the hulls of smaller ships can't be balanced.
  11. As near as I can tell, a division's max speed is the speed of it's slowest ship, or slow enough to keep formation with the other divisions. I usually detach ships that are holding the division back.
  12. I am likewise concerned that at whatever year I play, and whatever I have spent on research, I always pay a penalty for triple turrets and a bigger one for quad turrets.
  13. How do I get either a port or a minelaying ship/sub to lay mines? How do I sweep Mines? How can I attack an enemy port? I have several submarines stationed athwart my enemy's main shipping lanes, but they never attack convoys. How do I make my subs more aggressive? Why did i lose a war when I had a positive balance of funds, a bigger fleet, and 150% of my enemy's victory points?
  14. There are two things I would really love to do in Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnaught. One would be to have a "library" of historical designs to use in Custom Battles. Like have the HMS dreadnaught face the USS Baltimore. That would require generating the designs for historical ships. I think fans would volunteer to do this job. I'm sure this has been discussed before. The other thing I'd like to do is probably easier. Have my ship designs from the "Campaign" saved to a location on my computer and be able to open these files in the custom scenario section. This way I could test some of my designs against each other. The AI often designs some interesting ships that I'd like to "examine" more closely. I have taken some enemy ships in reparations just to open their design in the shipyard and see what makes them tock. Thank you!

  16. In my campaign, it is now January 1939. I am tired of this campaign and want to move on. How do I end this campaign without just quitting? I started in 1890. I have not lost a war. My Prestige is nearly 3000. Italy has collapsed. I have more ships and better ships than Austria and Germany combined. England is my staunch Ally. after 50 years of Success, I think it's time to retire.
  17. I am finding it necessary to Auto Resolve battles above a certain size, because I can't manage mote than about 12 ships. My AI sends my battleships out of combat, while having my TBs and DDs charge recklessly into battle. The TBs and DDs do not loose their torpedoes, they just get slaughtered. More work is needed. But I like what I've seen so far.
  18. While watching the action of battles in my campaign, I have noticed that a lot of work has gone into animations of ships sinking, Also ships that suffer catastrophic damage from ammunition explosions. I don't get to see the ammunition explosions often, they occur mostly toships I'm not following closely. It would be nice to have a playback or rewind function to watch some of these events.
  19. Winning wars seems very arbitrary. I have read the advice that I should refuse offers of peace to get bigger reparations. I've not seen this work. Diplomacy seems entirely random. Exactly how am I creating tension when all of my ships are in port and either "in being" or on "Limited?" Why are you going to issue me an Ultimatum when I have 150 ships and you have 15?
  20. Here's my point of view: My fleet will hold cohesion. My DDs will not get too far from the rest of the fleet. So my fleet moves as fast as its slowest ships. What I'd like to see isa list of ships that can engage as so: DD Pinafore 1000 tonnes Sp. 22 75% structure, 100% flotation DD Bounty 1000 tonnes Sp. 32 100% Structure, 100% flotation I can choose Pinafore, or Bounty, or both. Right now I have no choice, I must take both. If my opponent is an enemy destroyer, I'll never catch it. I'd rather select the Bounty and leave the Pinafore lay back.
  21. The first thing I do is make a full pause and re-organize my fleet. Put all the same classes of BB, or at least the same speed, in one division, etc.
  22. I have been trying to bring my enemy to battle. Finally made it happen. I put 3 task forces right outside the port the computer was holed up in, each TF had more ships than the whole enemy navy. The battle was mandatory. No chance to withdraw. Decided to "fight it out" as a battle, not auto resolve. I knew it would be close. ALL MY SHIPS WERE DAMAGED BEFORE THE BATTLE BEGAN. ALL MY SHIPS were reduced to 75% structure. One ship in each division had irreparable rudder damage. The DD's had one ship in each division with rudder damage AND one different ship with one engine out, and only able to make 2/3 max speed. BUT!!! If I disengage, I lose, as all the damage the computer assigned me before the battle started is counted against me in victory points when the scenario is over. Stop this. Don't offer excuses. Don't offer sophistry. Do not put damaged ships in the OOB unless they are listed as such before the battle begins, and the human player may decide to leave damaged ships out of the fight.
  23. The war ended. I sent all my ships back to port. I put all my ships on "In Being" but for my Capital ships, which I set to "limited." I had no threats to potential enemies. I had war in 4 months. Developers must not only allow players to reduce tensions, but the means to do so must be clearly explained.
