  1. god now I want them to add aircraft and see some of those designs light up the skies... 😀
  2. another source of inspiration might be how Hearts of Iron does it - where you can decide on game start whether the AIs should (attempt to) follow a vaguely historical path, or be allowed to go wildly off course (communist or Imperial Germany anyone?^^). Couple that kind of setting with multiple historical bookmarks like 1890 (or whichever year we end up starting), 1905 (HMS Dreadnought), 1914, 1918, 1922 (Washington), 1930 (London), 1938, Dec1941 and 1945 that you can start from and you should be able to tailor the experience to your liking...
  3. since you're not giving us any information as to what the issue might be... no we don't? blind guess - turret traverse taking a while after a turn?
  4. and what would you consider "historical" rates of fire for BB caliber guns? Please dont quote the Wikipedia 30s bollocks, that's under ideal training circumstances and not in combat...
  5. discoveries? this isnt the Age of Sail you know... I guess we'll have to see how much work the devs put into the campaign map - if there's things like prevailing winds/currents/weather/temperatures involved (for example the Atlantic usually being a much rougher sea than the Pacific, exceptions obviously apply), randomly generating an entire new map might be too much to ask... Random countries could work though, maybe they can just ask Paradox for the algorithm they use in EU4 and the like 😀
  6. sounds good. Also, to the original point... Drachinifel does contest like this every now and then for his Youtube channel - sets out the framework and criteria (class, era, displacement etc), and then asks his viewers to send in ship designs that match that using various existing tools. We'd obviously be using the ship designer in UA:D, but the rest could kinda stay the same... maybe once it's fleshed out to a near-enough-finished state (Steam Early Access release or something), the Devs themselves could hold... dunno... one such contest per month, feature the winning designs prominently somehow. Wouldnt really need further prizes either - this isnt some MMO where you can get currency or swag... Oh, and off the back of that, I sure hope we'll get the ability to not just save our designs at some point, but also exchange them among eachother. That way anyone that fancies it could have a browse through previous contest winners (with the name of the creator displayed prominently ofc) and take some of 'em into battle themselves... lotsa cool possiblities here 🙂
  7. I can top that, actually... got a cruiser oneshot right from under my rear by a single 2" shell... unfortunately, the built-in screenshotting didnt capture the UI for some reason and I only noticed that after the fact, so I dont have "proof"... guess you can all call me a liar now if you want xD
  8. What I'd like to see at some point further down the line would be a bit more variation/options in the guns we have access to. Right now, a 6" gun is a 6" gun, period, and even gun sizes only go up in increments of one full inch (there were obviously tons of guns historically that fell between these neat increments). On top of that we have shell weight, type of powder, and an arbitrary "advanced loading/autoloading" buff option. There's a lot more to it, for example in barrel length (one of the best examples are probably the USN 5"/38 vs 5"/51, but also the various kinds of 16" guns from Colorado to Iowa), actual autoloaders like on the Des Moines or some post-war 6" cruisers that gave a lot more than 25% better reload, shells becoming a lot better over time, and others. Not a high priority issue at all, but at some point I'd kinda like to be able to recreate more of the intricacies of historical ships 🙂
  9. I dont appear to have any PMs at this time... Edit just so nobody gets a wrong impression - got it now 🙂
  10. Same here, got payment confirmation (via PayPal) yesterday but nothing further...
