  1. Could be very interesting and remember a hit to the bow/stern isn’t as demoralizing as a main gun getting KOed.
  2. There’s a known AI issue to me that if you used all ships AI command it doesn’t turn off between battles and you have to turn it of manually. Sorry I haven’t reported it yet I can’t be bothered too but I will soon.
  3. Lol I agree we need a last known location and a mini map.
  4. Look at Bismarck for example, she was firing her guns until they were KOed, most of her deaths came from trying to fight longer on a doomed ship that was already dead in the water and and barely able to shoot back. The next largest portion was from the ones who abandoned ship but weren't picked up. (About 400 went overboard and only 114 were saved.)
  5. That's because its a comparatively small volume of the ship (about 1/5th to 1/3rd of length depending on who designed the bloody thing. So you can put more armor there than what ever would be reasonable. Its not so much a player problem because we all know to protect the citadel. (I hope) Its the random generated AI designs that can get wonky that's the issue.
  6. Also you got too many secondaries. Should only have 2x 6" tripples super firing over the main battery fore and aft with the superstructure we have access to.
  7. That was generally a later trend of fast battleships most had it externally mounted for ease of replacement and repair. A Yamato style internal belt you have to cut the hull open just to service. Where as most older battleships and other armored combatants had exterior armor belts which are much easier to repair as you cut their bolts and they fall off ready to be replaced.
  8. Bismarck’s shell flipped end for end after it hit the water and hit the ship base fuses first crushing them. That’s the big difference with Yamato’s shells they don’t flip end for end after they hit the water because it sheds the ballistic and AP cap for a hydrodynamic cap that’s under them. This compromises the above water AP capabilities and it’s why pound for pound the US’s SHS was better.
  9. Mine was Torpedo Basics funnily enough I didn’t do the missions remotely in order.
  10. Congratulations I managed the same earlier today!
  11. Whoops replied to a few pages old cus of a mis click. Anyways I do agree with the idea that 2 red columns amid ship should cause a ship to snap in half and sink, and it should be possible to do things like blow the bow or stern off a ship without sinking it: See USS New Orleans.
  12. Yeah too short and the shell skips like a rock, which to be honest can be an advantage in the right spot since it might bounce up into an inclined belt, too long and the shell goes too steep to hit anything really important.
  13. Only reason I would want it would be for screen shots of full broadsides and other very time restricted scenes.
  14. Radar isn’t that much better than optical what it is better at is bat weather and night enhancements, so ships that have it will be much more likely to want to push might engagements or during storms than those who don’t. See Taffy 3 vs centre force.
  15. I didn’t mean explosions I mean from fires on the ship, oil fires especially, but thanks for the source for the counter argument.
  16. Another thing is hot enough fires should degrade the armor of your ship as the ruins the temper.
  17. Oh yeah I whole heartedly agree, one of the biggest problems they have right now is that they got the reasons for why guns are more accurate as they get larger mostly wrong, it’s not the gun itself it’s all the stuff that goes with the big guns that makes them accurate.
  18. Yeah that’s a huge issue with a lot of the break deck hulls, they are hilariously bow heavy in game.
  19. I’m actually going to do a write up tonight that’s maybe going to be out tomorrow on why the devs got their current system horribly horribly wrong.
  20. I hope something in between we pick an area to research not a set goal and wait and see what happens.
  21. Not only that what compartments she did have that were “finished” was such low quality they leaked anyways.
  22. I had a game last night that really really pissed me off because of the inexcusable accuracy of the small guns... (1 hit in 1200 for 2”) (1 in 1140 for 4”) And yet got (1 hit in 4 with torpedos) Something is really screwy here. That’s worse gun accuracy than WWII manually aimed Heavy AA.
  23. More options would certain be nice.
  24. Classes are relative to the British a BC was any Big gun capital ship over a set speed, not what it’s main armament was or how much armor it had, until the “fast battleship” classification came out it was what they used. Ans like others have said CAs and CLs that we have seen are early era ones that are actually Armored Cruisers and Protected cruises not what we know from the treaties as Heavy cruisers and Light Cruisers. And as for you having issue penetrating a ship with 20+ inches of armor with a 15” gun with 25” of penetration there’s a thing you’re forgetting. That penetration number in game is what it does against Iron Plate, NOT any of the more advanced armor. For example 20” of KC IV is actually 40” of Iron Plate with that 100% modifier. Should close range and switch to HE and burn them out rather than try to penetrate them in that case.
