  1. Allow me to clarify, my statement can be refined down to "I'm fine knowing that the enemy has launched torpedos. It's up to me to figure out where they are and how much time I have to deal with them" But I'd also be fine not knowing that they launched torpedos and having to figure out if they have, where they are, and how much time I have to deal with them. And to be honest I'd actually be fine having to roughly ID enemy ships to determine if they were BBs, CAs, DDs, etc before being able to get 100% accurate information on their armorment, speed capabilities, armor and etc. I'd also be fine not knowing how many enemy ships were out there and having to figure out where they were, but as the game is currently we would need more visual aid in battle. Ie, actual smoke on the horizion instead of just a message. And I'll go one step further to say yes, actually I'd love to play this game from a first person perspective locked to bridge crew on my flagship (It's how I play silent hunter) but there would need to be some map and chart functions or screen akin to silent hunter to make that workable and the graphics and visuals would need major up tooling. But to be clear, no I don't want the WoWS proximity alerts and I also don't want the warning triangle or the torpedo beats. I lean hardcore more towards the simulator aspect and am not interested in an arcade experience. I understand that's just me which is why I'd like a customizable difficultly setting.
  2. Alright so, first impressions. I've played and beat 2 missions. First I have to say I've been hitting the space bar this entire time expecting it to pause the game. Too much HoI4. (that would be a great feature) I like the new drag and drop division cards I also like the new divisions/battle lines, although I didn't have a problem with the old ones. These both work a lot cleaner so I think they're a good improvement. The new formations work... uh, well? I don't know I still had some considerable AI ship pathing issues. One glaring issue I noticed in my brief play through was that ships spazzed out after being assigned orders, and began to play bumper boats with each other for a considerable amount of 10x FF time. Other than that I do like the new commands and the ease and flexibility of issuing commands. Over all I find the command and control functions pretty tight. I wouldn't mind a little extra control over some of the functions, perhaps a "scout over there" feature with a clickable target location, or a "scout north-west" function. I'm pretty pleased with the new commands though, very nice. That being said the new shiny gubbinz are kinda a let down. Don't get me wrong, I find the french connection to be the most alluring modern warship parts as of yet added. Though if we're honest it's a very small set of parts and I still don't consider resized parts to be noteworthy enough of denoting a "X amount of new ship classes available" but that's just me. For what it's worth I do like the new towers and funnels, but it the restrictive parts selection does hinder my ability to make the Normandie Class. I'm sure it's doable with enough hoop jumping. Huge guns are fine. I don't have anything really to say about them, I'm of the opinion that if you've seen one mega cannon you've seen them all. The new 20 in are just last patches 18 in. I've played one game with the new 20 in guns. I beat the new France vs Germany mission in about 10 minutes battle time... I landed one hit on the H Class, who was sitting broadside to me, and I ammo racked it. I took one 20 in hit in exchange that did about 6% of my health. Cool I guess? The battle of Tsushima mission was fun, though the available parts are tired for ship building are tired. And the AI made some questionable decisions in ship building. But other than that it was a good mission to get a hang of the new command and control functions, and to see the new formations in effect. Over all a great mission. It took me a while to realize that the morse code was coming from the game, I use a lot of power tools and at first thought it was tinnitus. I had alt tabbed out and was poking around elsewhere online and the morse code continued to play in the background - drove me nuts until I tracked it down. I would be okay with more information restrictions akin to RTW, though I would also like the ability to access the current level of information that we have. Maybe the campaign needs something like the custom difficulty settings you see in silent hunter? I don't know if you're familiar with those but essentially you choose a lot of the information you want restricted or available when you start the campaign, and a bunch of other difficulty settings too.
  3. I would not like to see WoWS style "hey look torpedoes" constant torpedo alerts or notifications of inbound torpedoes. I actually find a lot of enjoyment and get a lil rush from having to identify targets with torpedo tubes and having to prioritize them depending on their range. Once a target ship has been 100% IDed you get to see it's individual weapon reload timers anyways, so if you watch the torpedo reload timers you'll know when fish are in the water and know when you have to maneuver accordingly. If you check and see that the tubes are on reload, well, better adjust your course! Besides, a good captain should be maneuvering anyways. That said, I think it's pretty exciting having to wonder where enemy fish are and having to juke and swish accordingly, you can find them if you look as most leave a subtle wake, and a surprise torpedo hit punishes a lax commander and punishes harder a cheapskate shipwright. And some times surprise punishment is great, one time [censored] [censored] [censored] and man, my fins hurt for days after but I digress. I finally have some quality time to dive into the new patch and pick it apart so I'm going to go.. do that now.
  4. How about a few spots for barbettes amidship as seen on such warships like the Bretagne Class Battleships and the Fuso Class just to name a few?
  5. Sigh, here I am trimming out a window while everyone else is trimming out ships. All the other fishes get to have all the fun.
  6. Well I have lodge tonight, degree night so I'll be there till damn near midnight.. maybe I can wrap up work early today and have a little time in-between to try out the patch. All I've got to do is trim out some windows then this gig is finished. Hmmm..
  7. Speaking of all these frog battleships, I do very much look forward to building something akin to the Normandie Class. It's got that delightfully goofy french warship aspect to it, and quad turrets. I wonder if any of the new french hulls will allow building something like. I'm hoping for at least something with the wacky casemate grin it has below the bow turret.
  8. Hey its the Carnot, what a pretty battleship. Don't judge her she just thinks shes an apartment block.
  9. If I'm not mistaken the Caio Duilio and her sister the Enrico Dandolo which has a really fun name to say carried the largest naval artillery by diameter of the 19th century, and by weight until surpassed by 15in guns of the superdreadnought era. Those guns are British 100 ton Armstrong guns which the brits themselves only used as coastal artillery to counter the CD and ED in the med.
  10. I keep thinking about playing WoWS again, despite the thick layer of encrusted salt, but then I don't. Mostly because I was god awful at it, and because the last time I spent any real, uh, well, time in it was during open beta. I wish I had a boat game I was excited to play. This patch will be interesting, but I won't be losing my mind over it. I'm still waiting for more predreadnought era warships. Devs, if you're real and you're reading this will there ever be functional echelon turrets? Will there ever be more 1900s and earlier hulls? Will the USS Maine or the predreadnought battleship Pelayo ever be buildable? I'd actually really love if the spanish single gun dome turrets (well, technically armored barbettes but let's not get into that discussion) we're made available.
  11. In the south.. how about.. aurora australis? The southren lights? Aurora Borealis? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen? Yes! May I see it? No.
  12. Huh, well, the content just as expected. I'll direct the curious to a post I made in the locked thread as to why I'm not hype. I'm looking forward to the balances, the "Guns and Other" and the formation revamp, as well as the Battle of Tsushima mission, but really about it. It will be neat to futz around with the french hulls but modren just doesn't do it for me... Here's hoping it's a nice patch regardless.
  13. Hey if you really want to make my day I'm taking the week of the 23ed off, it will be my first week off since july 2019. Spending some quality time with some excellent new Pre-Dreadnoughts would be a nice...
  14. I watched most of that once, not a bad movie despite being hardcore x rated propaganda at it's finest.
  15. Clearly the devs are stress testing the new mutiny mechanics on the community first before they implement them into the game.
  16. Believe it or not I'm a big time beiyangaboo (probably why I don't get along with the weebs) and I'd be happy doing all I could to keep the foreigners out and take back land that rightfully belongs to the Republic of China! Or at the vary least the warlords Zhang Zuolin or Wu Peifu or maybe even that guy Sun Yat Sen. KMT china best china.
  17. Okay, well if you play this game religiously every day and love every minute of it then excellent, I commend you! I think that's awesome and I say keep on doing so. But I don't. I don't have fun with this anymore, so much so that I've hardly looked at any of the past updates since the April Fools day one. Those ironclads really were great, I played them a lot. They were a wonderful surprise. Since then I've hardly looked at the game. I fully expect this patch to be as the devs have said it will be, no increased expectations, no secret wishing, nothing more than advertised. Bug fixes, modren french battleships, quad turrets, super heavy guns and 4 missions. That's what the dev team has said they're doing and I have no reason to expect anything more than that. I think I'm being fairly realistic, I'm not trying to be pessimistic here. And hey if they do shove in more, well I'll be pleasantly surprised and pleased with their endeavors but I'm not going to get hyped up wish listing. To me, and this is strictly my opinion and I'm well aware that my opinion doesn't matter, but modern french battleships and quad turrets are mildly interesting, I'll no doubt putz around with them for a few minutes and the move on, and two out of four missions interest me, I'll no doubt putz around with them for a while before I move on. This isn't content that keeps me hungry and keeps me wanting to come back for more. I'm not here for late war WWII super battleships, and I'm a minority in that regards. I'm not here for six barreled 30 inch guns that can place a shot grouping on the moon. I'd like more pre-dreadnoughts, armored and protected cruisers slap fighting each other and a campaign, but oh well. I understand that I can't just make that happen. So therefor, because of the situation I've found myself in with the content current available in comparison to my interests, and no evidence what so ever that I'll have that itch scratched, what am I suppose to think, feel, hope for or do? Sorry pal, and no shade towards the devs, but it's just starting to seem like we're two different ships passing in the night.
  18. I hate to admit this, and I hope I don't catch any flak for it but I've mostly already moved on and forgotten about this game. I have no hype left and I really have no great expectations for the patch being anything more than they've already said it would be. If it drops I'll come back, peek at it, look at the new quad guns and try the two missions that interest me and then long out until the subsequent patch. So... Sorry for my opinions? I'd really love some hype, I'd love to be excited to play this game, I'd love to be excited for new content, a year ago when I bought this game I thought it'd be everything I ever wanted in a warship nerd game. Right now though, I don't know fishies. I don't know.
  19. He's "Tank crew 1" from 1994, wearing the OG cadian tanker uniform from the time before the cadians looked like they were wearing a football uniform and from the time when the minis were made of metal with questionable lead content.
  20. Did I hear hobby stuff?!??! Oh man, oh bloop, oh boy. I paint models. I'm trying to go pro.. This is why, aside from work, I have no time to play video games. I landed 6th out of 240th with this sucker in a contest I entered earlier in the year. :3 I was actually pretty disappointed but.. that's me. I am not sorry for image spamming this thread.
  21. I use to draw and paint digitally, but I haven't picked up my tablet or pencil in a good 5+ years now. . I drew a buncha warships but this is one of the only ones I think I still have. Have the Graf Spee
  22. Post more eels. The last one sums up how I feel waiting.
