  1. So uhh.... Nobody here ever heard of Victory at Sea or, more specifically, Victory at Sea Pacific? It's actually pretty similar in gameplay to UAD (this game), but focusing on historical accuracy over the rest, including battle "realism". TBH, I bought this game (which was pretty pricey for my country's coin) because I basically saw/understood a VaSP-styled campaign with the ability to make your own ships from scratch. In fact, I'd go out a leg and say I'd much prefer if the campaign is made in a "fake" world, so that both the player and the AI can go ham with ship designs without the weirdness of 'Prussia vs Japan' kind of wars. I will mention, as a pretty good incarnation of that idea, the planet "Unreal" that Ace Combat uses: it's a completely random planet, with vaguely-similar-to-reality countries, and an almost equivalent level of technology to our present, with some magic additions of giant railguns and flying fortress-carriers.
  2. Feeble cursed one! Let's hope the magnificence of my GTX 660M (aka the barest, estimated minimum to play this game) does not deter you! Heh heh! Yeah it's enough. I play in 960x540, Fastest graphics, the game can stutter with more than 5 ships but otherwise runs fine. You can probably do better!
  3. How how how how how please share your wisdom please I'll be honest and direct: I tried using Cheat Engine to no avail (though I don't exactly know much other than trying all buttons), how did you manage that?
  4. Just completed the mission. Important PSA: heavy shells are heavy effing metal @Niomedes pairing the armor vs the expected enemy caliber is something I already knew and did, but sacrificing bits of overall defense for one extra BB was critical. That being said... DAMN SON, them heavy shells are basically a delete button! Ok, I did go with 17''s instead of 15''s or 16''s, but I previously tried 18'' and they'd regularly semi-pen with normal shells. I'm going to double down on this method, gonna try these Big Irons on my remaining uncompleted missions.
  5. About this mission... I've been struggling hardcore with balancing the destroyers to succeed in... anything. -Since the available tech is pretty low and the displacement is very limited, I just can't make the ideal build: it's an all-or-nothing for either survivability (that is overrated, because DDs are pretty much effed in 2 good hits) or offense (which is all good and nice, before you're torn to shreds by the enemy's superior number of guns). -I've tried a suggestion I saw around here too, with spreading torpedoes all over and keeping the enemy away, but that just doesn't work when you can't throw them faster than the enemy TBs can close the distance to you. -My oh my, the CAs are like angry badgers with my DDs: they just refuse to aim at the BB, and whatever their main gun caliber, the secondaries are enough to blow up the DDs engines, which is almost guaranteed death. -Lastly, the BB you get is horrible: pre-dreadnought, few, innacurate or weak secondaries, and outright useless main guns. it's slower than my grandma, and one torpedo pretty much halts it for good. It can do some work on the enemy, but only if you put it at spitting distance, and I think that's not a good idea against TBs. So, how did y'all deal with this mess, if anyone's managed a solid win? I think the worst part is that there's no way to avoid being grossly outnumbered, and the DDs are generally not that better than the enemy TBs in any way, sometimes even worse. My best try:
  6. I'm not the most creative ship designer, and I tend to prefer the Battlecruiser approach of decent armor and lots of guns, but this mission has consistently kicked my ass because of that... I focus on firepower while trying to armor up the BCs at a decent cost/value (to have more than one BC): someting around 350-200mm belt, 100-80mm deck, ~200mm/50mm turrets, 100mm secs, and a stupidly armored conning. However, the BBs just plough through all that like butter, even if I bow-tank; my ship's guns can barely dent the CAs, and I've used 356 to 406 cannons; my ships can't hit shit, even at some suicidal ranges like 7km; while theirs can pinpoint and obliterate mine from the usual 20km. Seriously, what the hell do I do? I get that making impenetrable armor helps a lot, but that goes at the expense of better guns, speed, or number of ships! Did you just HE everything with low calibers, or what? I kinda don't know what else to do
  7. Hello So, I just bought this game's full bundle (the expensive one), and it said I'd get an e-mail with a download link or something...? Honestly I didn't read that atently, but how long should I expect the e-mail to arrive? Do I need to confirm something else?
