  1. Ink, Thanks for the clarification. I will keep an eye out for it when Steam availability comes around. Cheers! ~Schwieger
  2. Good Afternoon, I was planning on installing UA: Dreadnoughts on my computer as I haven't re-installed it since last cleaning my drive. I noticed the game appears to have been added to Steam, but the key I received from when I initially purchased the Alpha doesn't seem to work with Steam. I can only assume that it is not playable through Steam just yet. Will we receive Steam keys when it becomes available? Or will the keys we have already been sent be usable? Or will we need to request separate keys (or purchase them)? Appreciate the help, ~Schwieger
  3. Evening Devs and Fellow Admirals, Just thought I'd throw another suggestion out here - I've been following the screenshots thread and have submitted a few of my own entries for it. It's a pretty great place for folks to toss in some really nice imagery of their boats or cool scenes from climactic battles. Some of the screenshots in there (a few of mine included) have been tweaked to have a more era-appropriate authentic grainy black and white feel. This got me thinking - wouldn't it be nice and unique to have such a feature built directly into the game? I think that adding a screenshot feature where we can take in-game screenshots that resemble historical black and white photos would be a neat little addition to the game that would do wonders for heightening immersion and increasing the overall quality of the gaming experience. What do you guys think?
  4. It would be nice to be able to place turrets in this type of arrangement:
  5. This mission is actually surprisingly easy to beat - I typically favour sheer volume of hulls + 18inch guns. Armour I don't find necessary as with legions of hulls the rain of death gets too real for the enemy too fast. Stay at range.
  6. Academy Missions you like the most and why? What would you change to make it more interesting for you: Destroy a Full Fleet - I enjoy the scale and challenge of this mission, and the tech balances feels just right. Armed Convoy Attack - this mission is nice because of the unique blend of pressing time limits and warships actively working against your objective. Most other missions have the warships as the objective, but not this one. I typically build a small fleet rather than a single supership as the superships are far less interesting. Pre-dreadnought Conflict - not much to say about a full fleet battle; such things speak for themselves. Defend your Convoy - I actually enjoy fighting against the battlecruiser with the heavy cruisers the most. I've been trying to use the cruiser hull to create a German-style battlecruiser. Search and Destroy - the units here I typically build a are fairly evenly matched with the enemy. This is a nice match for seeing BB v BB (or BC) action. Academy missions you hate the most and why? What is causing frustration? The Modern Battleship - this mission is everything I don't want. A single powerful ship laying waste to everything. It's rather dull, as there's no fleet action, and this is only exacerbated by the fact the Yamato is perhaps the most uninteresting of the Japanese hulls. The "Basics" - these missions in particular I've not actually done except for the first two or three. They're tutorial missions. Don't have much to say about them. Battlecruiser vs Dreadnought - I don't think this missions should be changed - it's a nice challenge - I'm just not the greatest fan of "duel" type missions. Also speed isn't armour. You are wrong, Admiral Fisher. Superdreadnought or Battlecruiser - this mission suffers from the same issue as "The Modern Battleship," where the emphasis is far more on a supership than fleet action. Undefended Convoy Attack - the enemy cannot defend themselves. I'm aware this is the point of this mission, but I want fleet action, not a slaughter 😂 Please propose new missions or challenges (historical or fictional), share your ideas for missions you would enjoy playing, by describing the situations and the difficulties you want to face. Maybe your suggestion can be the next mission you will play in Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts! Definitely would like to see more fleet command style missions where you build a medium or large sized fleet and get to pit battleline against battleline. History-inspired missions. You guys did state you were not going to recreate specific battles, but you can still give us the funds, tech, and objectives similar to real battles to afford us an approximation of them.
  7. I don't really understand why these mechanics behave the way they do. The lead ship is taken out and then the next two dreadnoughts in the line turn around a full 180 degrees in an attempt to sail to the end of the line. Why? I actually find this behaviour to be entirely unacceptable, especially when portions of the line turn towards the enemy. This is compounded by the fact that at times ships in the line have a hard time pathing around one another and will come to a full stop in the water. I've had full health ships pounded into the dust because of this. If you'll excuse me, I have a few thousand letters to write. 😟
  8. Really hate to dredge this up again, but I've been toying around with commanding larger forces recently to see how well things go. I have to say that this point is rather concerning. In its current state, this is something that isn't just limited to the way vessels react to the lead ship being damaged, but general pathfinding with regards to one another in general. If I spawn with two columns of ships and I want one column to follow the other, I need to move one column forward, wait until it is out of the way, and then set the second column to follow, otherwise the AI has no idea how to set them to follow. It is also pretty cumbersome moving multiple ships into a single division. During Jutland, for instance, the British rather impressively moved from their multiple columns-of-transit to line-of-battle, which is a maneuver that we can't really replicate with the tools at our disposal all that well - a limitation of both the formation control and the pathfinding, I think.
  9. Hey all, As far as I can tell, there does not appear to be any after-action report feature for the current battles we are able to play through. I think it would be pretty useful to have a generated report at the end of each battle that details the relative performance of each of the ships in the opposing fleets.
  10. As far as I can tell, the game does not model it.
  11. Niomedes, do you have a setup that is able to match the AI's range? From what I've been able to gather here you have decent range but still mainly rely on tanking + speed to get the job done.
  12. I wouldn't complain if we're given 19-20 inch guns. How else can be build some of the super super ships?
