  1. While I'm ordinarily a simple potions professor....I feel like something needs to change in the ability to make ports FFA with little to no consequence. So I present a fairly simple solution. Make opening a port FFA cost the same as putting a timer on the port. Presumably a FFA port will get more traffic and more tax revenue to supplement the costs. In reality they are just being opened by Rogue/Disgruntled clans to cause disharmony within the nation. Case and point - The gulf by Vera Cruz. Not 1, but 5 ports owned by a different clan than the clan that actual owns and pays for the region with zero ability to change this. A clan should not have the ability to hold others hostage in this fashion with zero cost. A better ability would that the owner of the region has to approve all timer/port entry options, but that might be too elaborate of a change. If a clan wants to go rogue or be dicks, fine....but they shouldn't be able to do it for free while the owner of the region shoulders the burden of paying for it. Thoughts?
  2. Pirates and other non-zerg nations are really in untenable positions with this new front lines system. Freeports within 15-20min sails from their capitals and crafting hubs. Ability to pull missions from those freetowns despite having no actual connecting points to that nation. Weird shit like the Santa Marta pull. At least with the smaller BR ports the port battle itself was the equalizer. Now....not so much. RVR is honestly so F'd up right now it's amazing that we still consistent numbers above 1000 players daily.
  3. Actually the wind was blowing directly into the port for the battle, which would have made it extremely difficult to defend. Also the pirate screening fleet consisted of nothing heavier than wasas (and not many of those), thus making a stack of 25 1st rates more or less immune from screening if the PB fleet didn't come out to tag you. Could have been a possibility. Nuevitas is a tough port to take, but the wind can also make it a very difficult port to defend. Also I heard it was decided that since the other pirate crafting port was taken the day before and the risk of pirates losing a 2nd one in 2 days was deemed not worth the hassle. The clan that started this drama lost it's crafting port and will probably lose some more before all is said and done. They also had their clan bank "looted" (by whom is still a mystery...), their fearless leader jumped ship and hartz is having a mental breakdown somewhere. Drama over for now
  4. In before the “outlaw battles were abused” comment. We have shifted the game towards a more clan centric game and the consequences of this is now inter nation feuds and the inability to combat this. Either ditch the clan ports mindset and bring back the large nation design or give nations the ability to solve their problems internally. Right now we have a mix of both systems and it’s doing the game more harm than good
  5. Technically you were jumping missions the night before also. If we’re being accurate. 🙂
  6. Fake news - dutch jumped pirate hostility missions on the US coast as the first "shots" of the war.
  7. I seem to recall that Savannah and Santa Domingo were anything but empty. But it's all under the bridge now isn't it 🙂
  8. That you did. As with the hostility joining to spawn ships currently in tribunal, the intent needs to clearly be defined as "you join a battle to fight, not to grief" anything beyond that should be tribunal worthy. That is of course if @Ink gets around to answering tribunals...which has not been getting done.
  9. Don't forget that for the first 2 months of "global" the server had timer restrictions that were the same as EU and no RVR could be done after 9PM EST, effectively killing RVR for most americans and oceanic players.
  10. I heard that the octaflip (patent pending) was to combat a certain clan from timer dodging at 11-14 all the ports the bahamas. Half the server is a little rich, it was only 2 nations. You also benefited from it, which I think at the time you didn't seem too concerned about. This was before MAGIC clans time of course. I'm not sure 1 clan changing their port to a different time is the same as ALL the prussian ports changing..... but OK. ... Sure does seem like back in the fine woods period with no timers there was a lot more battles taking place. Full battles with 50-100 people outside of each one screening. Usually every day or at least a few times a week. Now....not so much.
  11. The US anti-organizing mindset is their greatest enemy. Now that the dopes like Draxx and Texas who refused to fight, it seems like they at least don't mind going out and trying...which is a step in the right direction.
  12. Then they whine on the forums about the lack of players and how the game is dead...
  13. To be fair he did join on the opposite side of the pirates on the east coast when they would jump the US.....and lose to VCO. Hot Pirate on Pirate action is always fun see. You'd think with their deep concern for the US they'd come back over here and help.....but I suspect that concern only goes so far as an open port to gank noobs out of.
  14. My heart warms with your concern for the US nation. We definitely need it. I am curious though why your indignation for harming our nation didn't stop you from joining up with your new masters down in VP. If you recall that very same clan used alts to circumvent the front line mechanics and flip the only crafting hub the US had just months ago and caused so many US players to quit or join other nations. Your choice in allies is a bit curious.....but who am I to judge 🙂 There was also a screenshot in global last night of the US actually being over BR while the pirates were 3-400 under. As for comp matching, it seems pretty even....maybe even slightly weighted towards the US with 2 1st rates and two 2nds. But again.....pesky facts.
  15. I think a smarter solution be to have some sort of port improvement option where production contracts fill at a different rate for the clan that owns the port. 60% of all tar (let's use carta for example) will divert to clan owned contracts leaving 40% for public consumption within the nation. Clans should be rewarded for holding and maintaining the port, but small frys should still be able to get their beaks wet too.
  16. Wasas are surprisingly affordable all things considered
  17. If you can avoid them most of the time.....what's the problem? I assume you weren't able to find someone in a storm on the OW.....which is something that never ever happened in the realm of sailing history. #realism Real storms in battle would be nice tho.
  18. Russians are clearly only good when inside the Russian nation. It also helps to bring a mortar brig. Some of us had fun with the Danes outside the PB though 😉
  19. Did Alex Jones start this thread?
