  1. +100 I'm really happy this is at the top of the priority list. Small quality of life improvement: I'd like to be able to select people/ships by selecting/clicking them in the battlegroup list - sometimes its hard to select a clan mate when everyone is stacked
  2. I had the same - rounding issue - you need one more kill
  3. See screenshot - I'm unable to claim the reward for this PVP Hunt Mission - no green tick denoting mission success even though mission conditions have been met (10.0/10) and the only option is to abandon. I'm trying to claim in a national friendly port with an outpost. I've filed a bug report - NAB-94371 Anyone else experience the same issue? https://gyazo.com/f788329bb2ba74e1b9bb5d0dbc196fcf
  4. Indeed! A copper plating is sold for about 700k last time I checked so its very very expensive and rare if you're buying it in free ports. If you really want copper ingots it means that unless you are wanting to pay this price you and your buddies will need to find a way to get those ports for yourselves. That is the game. That is the content. (you can do the alt thing too I guess but I don't want to mix up arguments here) Nor does not having those ports mean you cant get copper plating. its just more difficult. Like I was trying to point out with my port bonus spiel here. There are myriad ways round it with many speed mods available. Some of them (Naval clock and navy hull) are better than cp. Even if you wanted to build the ultimate fir/fir trinc griefer with cp you would still be able to that without having access to a copper port. Not saying its easy, just saying that we should perhaps celebrate that actions are meaningful in Naval Action. That folks have eeked out advantages over time. What we definitely shouldn't do is make everything the same and easy available. I would really like carta tar buy contracts so I'm going to try and get the port. That is the content. What I'm not going to do is demand readily available carta tar for everyone. At the moment its pain in the arse to get and I don't tend to get many. Plus I'm not very good so it takes me an age to get the CM for the equivalent navy planking reward. Its something I live with and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't stop me enjoying this sandbox
  5. Caracas has copper ingots and is Dutch just sail there and start buying. Having said that I think your suggestion of making these mineable is interesting and has merit. The market is volatile as the resource is rare and results in v good upgrades which I'm not adverse to either. It all adds to the canvas that is playing NA I'm hoping that tar will soon be available for me just as I'm hoping you'll sail out to defend your access to it
  6. I gotcha but those upgrades are difficult to defend my dude. If speed was an issue perhaps copper plating, navy hull and a sextant? Heck go crazy and add a bovenwinds. She may never be the fastest but you'd get her speed to be competitive and you'd still have room for one more upgrade (harkens back to my point about naval action being uniquely situational)
  7. Put it this way: I really want access to carta tar - I hope to see you on the battlefield there for many moons to come
  8. Thonys my friend. I'm not talking about Alts. I'm talking about my ability to get access to carta tar. which I can't currently. I can get copper ingots however. It's all swings and roundabouts. Tbh completely honest I saw your gold o/wo 5/5 heavy rig trinc with Katherine bowsprit, cotton sail and cole-benedict pump which suggests you have other remedial actions to consider before asking for port bonuses to be homogenized. ( a friendly poke from a Belgian to a dutchie ) x
  9. I gotcha but you're not getting the root of what I'm getting at. I said one to one as your test specified one ship with vs one ship without port bonuses. 25v25 fleets would never run your 0 to 5 point port bonus disparity in reality. Before we homogenise port bonuses for everyone (which im not adverse to) we should think if they are really the boogie man they are made out to be. The actual reality might be this: Me the noob in my 5/5 shiny toy, without all skill books vs a 3/3 or 4/4 equipped player who can actually sail. Take player numbers, wind, position into account and you have other factors that are just as deterministic. Naval action is unique in that (like in Eve and RL) advantages can be eeked out through hard work and cooperation. I'd really like to buy cartagena tar for example . I can't. That monopoly lives with the dutch. If I want carta tar I need to go get it. This in in my mind is fair and is the content. I don't think the solution is to give every nation carta tar. I believe there are 6 55 pointers in total and though im not 100% sure I think most nations have access to at least 45 points ports
  10. Hethwill my friend. I'm not saying that the differences between a 0/0 vs a 5/5 ship is negligible. Your test would prove the disparity What I'm saying is that there usually a myriad other factors at play that are more deterministic than your test tube example. Naval action just doesn't work as per your test in reality. 1v1 noob in a 0/0 bucket vs a 5/5 spangly toy
  11. Port bonuses are fine n should stay in my opinion. Naval action is unique in that it doesn't mollie coddle its player base. You can, through effort and cooperation eek out advantages. This sets it aside from most mainstream games and is something we should consider protecting There are a myriad factors determining the outcome of a battle, of which port bonuses is only one. By the time you take into account player numbers, player skill, wind and knowledge slots the additional port bonus of the ship facing you is often negligible. Not to say that there aren't battles where port bonuses are a determining factor, but this game doesn't need to be even steven through the middle.
  12. Loki = trickster god The icelandic whapped through google translate comes up as: Bjarkan is a leafy green paste.,The valve carried the elapsed time Some sort of close battle timer thing?
  13. Sail your boat gently upwind but don't tack. At crucial point de-power and push your yards the other way which causes your boat to reverse. Reverse turn like this. You'll get your broadsides in. The mistake is to keep sailing forward trying to match the turn of the much smaller ship thats stern camping you I'm not v good but this works for me
  14. Aww I missed this "cries" ik snap het nu een beetje meer but I'm glad Meraun stepped in to actually describe what happened
  15. @Atreides Do Brits have a communal TS or Discord? If the answer is no I see that as the primary reason why they fail at RvR. The same applies to any other nation. The Russian teamspeak houses quite a few clans which i think is the key to success. Port battles are always well attended as all you have to do is "nip down" talk to some of the others and see who is game for a fight. Without the ability to coordinate like this Russia will always face a more disjointed and disorganized enemy. Case in point look at what happens when REDS fought a well coordinated 25man fleet like HAVOC @ Ponce. We got our arses kicked well and truly. We're currently not actually that good in battle (but seek to practice at every opportunity ) The reason Russia is doing well is due to organisation. Things like the aforementioned spreadsheets play a huge factor. I really really wish others would organise in the same way. Start a discord or TS server, spam in nation chat, invite established clans into it and start organising in similar fashion. Start hoovering up the newbies and assist them in making them grow. By way of example: I played solo pirate bumming round Mortimer for 800 hours before I joined REDS and it was lambs to the slaughter. Daily. That was not bad game design, that was not the devs. It was me wanting to do my own thing whilst facing squads that were organised and chatted. I lost count of the amount of times I got ganked whilst having friendly pirates within visual range. Its impossible to mount a coordinated defense of anything in nation chat Not everyone organises though. That is the only issue. Those who don't will always lament losing to those who do I really wish I was part of RvR in the Jeheil days. It seemed there was constant "biff" all over the map. Not so much now. tip toeing about to not damage main crafting hubs as is mentioned in this thread is a thing. I'm assuming you are part of the Brit nation so there must be quite a few clans right? I'm going to assume that most sit in disparate teamspeaks/discords? If my assumption is correct I am convinced you wont see puppy stomping if those clans would jump into a communal thing o7
  16. Apologies my man - you are right - I definitely woke up on the wrong of the bed today.
  17. What on earth are you talking about? Could you perhaps switch on your brain before you start typing uneducated waff. You clearly have no idea of the REDS stance on things so you shouldn't be spouting rubbish as if its gospel. We spent half our time infighting with certain Russian elements and we are perhaps the primary example of wanting to gameplay that benefits the server population as a whole. I know for a fact that server pop and game health is a primary concern amongst REDS leadership. Case in point our fights around Bluefields - (note! an actual thing rather than the unfounded hyberbolic waff you just spouted) Brits were not in a position to defend or raise sufficient players to do so. An agreement is in place where we stopped attacking with the idea of having practice "friendly" fights instead. This to prevent the exact thing you are accusing us off So before you start moaning and claiming that we are actively unbalancing the game and see our role as making it worse, I again implore you to switch on your brain and realise that refusing to move nation just because someone thinks we should on some vague notion that doing so would fix things is borderline retarded
  18. Quick question: I'm assuming that upgrades assigned to ships in fleet will work if the fleet is dragged into battle? Is this assumption correct?
  19. Is this possible? especially if the resource is rare, much sought after and has loads of buy contracts against it? I'm wanting to potentially sail in with a trader and see if I can't snap up some resources by buying them of the shop. My question is: Are resources that spawn in a port instantly allocated to buy contracts or do i have a window where a dilligent person might be able to snap some up before they go to buy contracts?
  20. I found the same. I won't mention where but our home waters are crawling with trader hunters. One chap has gotten 4 of myTbrigs in as many days. As with everything it takes a little time to prepare a counter strategy. First of the trader ganking needs to be of sufficient level to affect more than a few outliers. Providing this is the case then we have some awesome content brewing! Counter fleets are being prepped, squadrons are being formed. The lack of a response is likely due to this being a key time for most clans. Everyone is grinding like mental as they don't want to be stomped by 1st rate pb fleets so i imagine a lot of the organised folks are taking the hit on their traders whilst they grind to pilot first rates. As to dangerous AI I love the suggestion. They are not the easy walk over they used to be. go broadside to broadside and you will die, so I'd be v interested to see how this plays out
  21. With regard to upcoming roadmap 2019 update: 1) I am not willing to pay for a duelling room subscription - Don't care for it personally so wouldn't want to subscribe to it either. 2) Would very much support new/ additional ships - Wreker/Temeraire etc.... The ships is what brought me here so even greater variety would be awesome 3) Boarding mini game - You've shown some awesome screenshots of what boarding could be. If there's time I'd love to see that implemented 4) Port UI update - scale buildings properly
  22. I respectfully disagree my dude. I did not use the broadside whilst boarding mechanic shown in the vid. The Cerb ended up exploding when i tried this You also allude yourself that this tactic requires a little luck sometimes with regards to AI movement. When I tried I ended up T-boning the cerb which makes shooting it during combat useless. I didn't find it boring at all and was really chuffed when I completed it using exactly those skills taught to us in the tutorial. I used the sailing stuff to maneuver. i used the gunnery elements to snipe the mast of one of the Cerbs, leaving that one behind and allowing a 1v1 on the other and finally had to rely on the survival tutorial skills to stay alive during the fight. I'm curious.. what would you do to make the tutorial better then?
