  1. For those of you who are just arriving to this thread, I shall make bold in summarizing.

You can expect at least 3 resets/wipes [...] One of them will include full XP reset

People are currently dismayed by this for the following reason:

    Quote

Rank xp, crafting xp is safe and guaranteed

People would obviously like to have their XP reimbursed in the way that Banished Privateer suggested in the first few pages of this thread, or would at least like SUBSTANTIVE compensation because they (self included) feel lied to by the way the word "guaranteed" is currently being stretched into "possibly".

If the first impression and cutters are so important, unlock the ranks for all the testers on release in time. After a week give us post captain ranks, after 2 weeks flag captain, after 3 weeks commodores and after month rear admirals... Same result and these that hate re-doing the grind can simply wait and come back later.

    This would work. +1

    You are upset. i understand.
But you forgot that rank is easy to get. And crafting level and blueprints is no longer RNG as it was when this promise was made. In pvp you can get top rank maybe in a week or two.

Rank was easy to get with the old missions system. Now we have to chase things down. Player, NPC, does not matter. Too much time spent chasing things for those with jobs or in school.

WE ALREADY GET SOMETHING. WHY THE hello kitty ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT EARLY ACCES?!. ITS A GOOD WAY TO GO THINK ABOUT THE NEW PLAYERS THAT WILL JOIN WTF. Just stop complaing About Things which are not going the way you want it.

Think about all the new players who are already unable to get into the game because gaining XP is too difficult. We all leveled up using instant-action missions, they have to chase down traders snows to sink.

DLC is yours until the music stops! Tutorial ranks will not remain.
    Only books/skillbooks will be recovered

I ask humbly that you do not wipe our XP if it can be avoided. And if it cannot be avoided, and the XP must be wiped, I ask that people be given partial redeemable XP so that they don't fall completely out of the community. There are those among us who have played since January of 2016 without losing all their XP and would be greatly upset to lose it all, especially after several comments in the past which were, perhaps erroneously, interpreted as assurance that we'd not lose our rank progress. I cannot truthfully say that I'd return to the game were I to lose all my levels, at which point the "seagoing assets" become unuseable without an extreme grind. The grind was far more forgiving when we had the ability to use instant-action missions to bring the PVE XP on a friendly schedule. Today, chasing players and bots around the extremely large open world would be nearly insurmountable for those who are employed or in education. This whole thing goes without mentioning the struggle of new players who acquire the game, as I'm sure the issue is quite familiar to them.

since hethwill is using a portugese flag I guess yes.

@admin how do flags work? Only I see them or other ppl too?

The custom flags in-game have been largely made by myself, or people following my guide.
They are not official assets, and they can only be seen on the client-side of yourself, or anyone who uses the same modified files as you.

Will there be an Oceania Server? How will the worldwide server deployment be organized?

Or will private servers be available?

There were previously more servers for different regions; but these were all merged into the current "Caribbean PVP" shard, likely due to player population.

For the later, I´d suggest something like a "Move there" option for the in fight map menu, so that AI just goes there. No what´s, no if´s, just simply moves the bowsprit in the direction, and sets sail, disregarding wind and obstacles all along. *Maybe* it should try to dodge something in its way, but from what I saw, better don´t give the AI any room to think itself.

It sounds like we could use something along the lines of the Total War unit moving mechanics. Left Click our AI ship on the map and Right Click where we need it to go.

I was wondering... how deep did you dive into those files? What else could be modded?

Anything that displays in the game as a client-side object can largely be modded. This game's unity is extremely open. I don't imagine it would cause any problems since this game is entirely run on the server-side and the only thing players can mod are what appears to them, and them only. Flags, banners, sails, paints, etc. | Textures for walls, items, crew, etc.

Im personaly for rewoke of reward system it will be more positive for economy than multi dura ships

General consensus on the topic is that PVP/Combat marks are going away in their current form to be replaced by alternative currencies.

Incidentally this also solves people farming alts for pvp marks.

  11. It would seem there are two major ideologies regarding RVR and diplomacy clashing on a single point of contention. That point being:
"Why should players who do not consent to diplomacy be forced to abide by it."

To this end, I would like to propose a compromise. Purely hypothetical, and I will not pretend to have thought it out fully as it is only a framework.

    Quote

National diplomacy should be an opt-in system.
This system would have it so players who wish to participate in diplomacy are beholden to the diplomacy of the nation, whatever the diplomatic decision making system may be, etc.

If two players from differing nations have both opted-in to the diplomacy system, and those nations be allied, they cannot attack each other. However, should they encounter players who are not opted-in to the diplomacy, they may engage them freely, regardless of diplomatic status. So too would players who are not opted-in be able to attack those who are.

As for a balancing factor to prevent people from simply dropping in and out at will, I propose a cooldown timer be implemented to that end. It would take 1 day to opt-in, and 1 day to opt-out again. Let the timers be set to 24 hours and not maintenance. Let there be a 3 day period after opting-out, during which one cannot rejoin the diplomacy system.

Simply put: Let those who wish to partake in diplomacy do so, without forcing those who are against diplomacy to follow its rules.

I am completely against any diplomatic system in which various people decide the state of the nation without the consent of the players it would affect.
