  1. They only tag over 100BR. If you are running a big fat trader through an enemy's Capitol zone, you're just a gift for them anyway.
  2. It's not just the birth of these ships. It's much more about the birth of the naval tactics that goes with this new technology. This was the point where "broadside" driven naval tactics had to give way to Ironclad/trainable turret tactics and should be the natural start point of our game. As you say, this pre-Dreadnought period would be a lot of fun to stay in for a lot of players....a very "pure" era of naval warfare, without aircraft or subs.
  3. Yeah. 1860 saw the birth of HMS Warrior which still had sails and was a broadside ironclad. that's probably stretching too far. Monitor was turreted, but that class was really not ocean-going. 1870's saw proper pre-dreadnoughts, I would say. No sails...trainable turrets...
  4. Ummm….you didn't press the 6 or 7 keys, did you?
  5. Would still like to be able to log off inside the battle instance (and not get dropped into OW when you do). With the current speed boost system, which is great in general, revenge fleets have a very easy time in keeping raiders engaged indefinitely. This is a constantly complained about problem. It actually stops you from going on raiding cruises, because there is too high a risk that you will be trapped in battle for hours longer than you wish or be forced to sacrifice your ship just so that you can go to bed. In my opinion, if you are alone in a battle instance or if you have separated from your enemies so that they can't tag you....you should be able to log off safely. You've done the hard work of killing the enemy or evading them successfully...you shouldn't have to go out and face a fleet that have waited for you in a very artificial manner with speed boosts and radio vectors.
  6. This is something I have been stressing all along. Its another case of the rich, getting even richer. Access is far too restricted. Permits should be on sale at the admiralty for a reasonably hefty fee. Why? It only takes one alt to spy. The alt problem has been discussed since before Noah was a Leading Seaman and will not change. Better to learn to live within the current reality.
  7. Good question. I've actually blasted an AI on my side that I suspected was a Loki, because he was consistently interfering in the battle. Hope it wasn't illegal!
  8. Lots of Sacrificial anodes. We just put HMCS Sackville (WWII) back in the water with hundreds of these. Quite right though...they need to be dry.
  9. Dunno about audible, but I highly recommend The Alan Lewrie series by Dewey Lambdin. Very good technically and also very funny, if somewhat raunchy. There is over 20 books.
  10. The Silent Hunter model was excellent for crew experience. There was also an allotment of medals that could be issued after successful battles/patrols. These medals would add an additional buff to a crew member.
  11. I must have added to my post while you were typing. Why should I be driven by what an individual clan in my nation is doing? They can be allied to another Nation's clan but that's not my problem. Of course, there are some clans in my nation that I am friendly with and would want to stay that way...but not all of them. Some are just alt clans of our enemies...or players who have a vastly different agenda than me.
  12. It's an interesting concept, because every now and then, I will tag an enemy who swears he has an alliance with one of my nation's clans. I generally ask a few questions on nation chat after the battle and find that this is either not true in any way or was only true during a specific period or event. Shockingly, some players lie about this in order to avoid the combat!! I'm not sure how I feel about it though. If a clan in my nation advises that they are allied with a clan from another nation...why should I care or be affected by that?
  13. The ships are fabulous and the combat is very challenging. Big map so there is some empty ocean to look at for considerable periods if you're transiting, but an enemy can appear at any time and then it's fight or flight!..Best game ever, IMO.
  14. Can't use that name. Taken out of context it is very racist.
  15. Hundreds? How quaint. get on Naval action and you will spend 1000 hours just getting started.
  16. We just finally got rid of that. It allows certain players to corner the market. Much better now to have to be physically present in order to purchase goods. A smart player will figure out how to do that often enough to make a substantial profit. Some players do nothing but make money. They are the ones that have a ridiculous surplus. I personally find trading to be a necessary evil and enjoy the fact that I can make enough money in a reasonable time to support me for many days (before i'm forced to trade again).
  17. yes but you are referring to actual history there. The technology for torpedo bombers was available in 1914 and gamers have no problem bypassing the real events. If a gamer is allowed to build aircraft carriers, he or she will build effective ones and probably nothing but. Devs would have to seriously restrict our ability to produce carrier attack capability or it would get out of control.
  18. Indeed. In our actual history, Aircraft carriers did not prove their worth until WWII. In a game, where we have all read our history and know their value, we would be building carriers as soon as we can. We know their value and we know that Battleships cannot survive in the same ocean as a Carrier group.
  19. Yeah, that would be my big fear for something like this...We shouldn't value our crews that much...They are nothing but press-ganged gutter scum.
  20. This is something that has been asked for many times in the past and just hasn't gained much traction. I like the idea personally, but I would suggest that if we are adding this kind of buff, we must remove some advantage from the ships as they are now. Perhaps nerf all ships until they can gain the suggested experience. We are already quite high on bonuses as it stands.
  21. If Devs gave us a Canada nation, you would get dozens of players happy with that (but not if they stuck us in Nova Scotia!), but we don't need that sort of thing. 6 Nations would be more than enough for this map.
