  1. Since posting this and being on vacation (in the actual Caribbean!) I have come back and noted that the wood permits seem to be now available from chests and Wood chests are now supplying Seasoned woods. Thanks @admin! (Hoping for a seasoning shed permit now...)
  2. The underlying problem is the friendly clan list. Solos/Small clans are at the mercy of the owning clan. If players could buy into a port without the clan's permission, this would be resolved. Everyone would have access to the PBs and would not have to adhere to a specific player's demands. Owning clan deserves to profit however, so the buy in would have to be expensive and of course, you would have no say in how the port owner administers his port. If you were to invest a substantial amount into a port for your crafting....you would be keenly interested in any Port Battles and very willing to help.
  3. Not true. Friendly clan list is poison. Players have to bend the knee to a clan leader and if he doesn't like you, you're out of luck. Very bad mechanic.

  8. We had some bad Engineering Officers setting the trim in the past (one time couldn't make Ojibwa stay down!), but never quite that bad! Extra duty watches for the Trimming Officer!
  9. Older ships did not have automated fire suppression systems and the earlier ones were not always effective. Look at HMS Sheffield in the Falklands war, or USS Forrestal in '67.....or Kursk...
  10. Group activities. Many (most?) players prefer to be in a group, but I personally like to hunt alone or with one buddy. This is a huge disadvantage for me as it limits many of the advantages that a group (clan) can achieve. In order to craft, I must be on a friendly clan list. This is better now that the lists have been extended, but you still have to go hat in hand to get "permission" to use a clan's port. Sailing alone means I rarely see the chests that the larger groups can claim, which limits the necessary loot required to play on an equal footing against others. I have NEVER seen a shed or wood permit, although I get numerous Captain's and Gold chests. It seems you must kill large AI to achieve success in the War server. Group/clan activities is just not attractive to every player, and you are at a disadvantage if you don't "conform".
  11. keep in mind that it would be a Chinese (or Japanese) flag on an existing ship. I would hate to see the variety of junks etc, that sailed in Asian waters.
  12. I don't think this should be an issue about whether or not a country had representation in the Caribbean. Its a game and that means fantasy. We all want you to sell more copies so that there is more population. I think you should certainly bring in other nations if there is a demand. The only issue is whether or not they have a capitol and where you would put that if you decide to go that route. What if Pacific Nations had a capitol on the Pacific side and have to fight their way into the Caribbean?

  14. I'll still redeem it every day in order to find one with good bonuses or trims. Might as well farm the woods.
  15. Resurrecting an old topic here because so many are at max rank now. We no longer accumulate XP, although it is still awarded after each fight and even after a long sail. It would be nice if those who no longer need it for ranking up could find another use for it. How about giving a player Doubloons to match the amount of XP? What if we continued to accumulate XP and it can be redeemed for CMs? I'm thinking as I write this that it would be very interesting if any player, regardless of rank, could redeem XP for doubloons or CMs at any time in their career. An interesting choice between attaining rank or getting badly needed money. Would a max rank player become too rich if he could redeem his continually rising XP?
  16. Lol, I've even seen what the inertia from a 4000 ton destroyer does to an anchor if you're moving faster than a creep. I stand by my statement!
  17. Darned physics......If you increase the length without increasing the tonnage then of course it becomes narrower. This will impact stability, which affects gun accuracy. You can make it a pencil for all I care, but then it will roll like a barrel.
