  1. I think this is a good idea. Pirates would probably like this a lot. How ever, I have to argue only one point... this would make your cargo more vulnerable to PVE attack... this would be fun... but the risk should be calculated. Perhaps also consider being able to send the ships with an escort also for a fee? The higher tha rank of the escort the higher the price? I am a hard core PVP player... I think his idea is legitimate. In the end though... the developers can do as they please. I like to think that if the backbone and majority of the community is in favor of something they would respond positively to ideas that will build up the game play and make their game more interesting.
  2. Yep... I think they will go then... but many things are becoming craftable in game so... no sweat aye? I just hope that all that is good shall remain, and all the bad will be done away with, as vague as that is... maybe some of you know what I am saying.
  3. This is fool hardy and is not in good taste... please guard yourselves and don't leave this moment due to your emotional distress. I don't think we are losing our xp, I haven't seen that, but what do I know... I am just another player. Three cheers to the frigates and their gallant Captains.
  4. oooooo you went off the edge? I did that once.
  5. I didn't join in on the sea trials.... I was interested in the open world feature this game has to offer. As the game is now.... with a couple small tweaks perhaps, is exactly what I was looking for in an age of sail game. I have seen this game come so far, I look forward to seeing the final and finished product. Three cheers for the frigates and their galante Captains.
  6. Sorry, I messaged you another way but I really feel like you should get this...

Medium cannons have no player driven market in game...

Would you please consider replacing Medium Cannons with Cannon Seconds as default in port cannons?

The Cannon Seconds could even be restricted from using double shot and double charge, could even have a used and weathered look to them.

Also to consider... only to offer the Cannon Seconds up to 24 pound.

This would really help the cannon crafters market and would result in more cannons being crafted by players in game. Some players would also enjoy the option to craft the Poods or Edinorigs.

    Thank you for your time.

    Sincerely...

  7. This looks really cool... I may have to get this game! And... please lets get a similar look to boarding battles and how crew look on the ships in Naval Action!
  8. Good wisdom, those that are wise will consider such words, the righteous will rejoice in the ways of wisdom.
  9. The game is not finished yet... many changes may still be coming... and... I know for a fact that entire clans are waiting very patiently to rejoin the game upon full release. For now we test and deliberate better possibilities. Let us find solutions then let the devs decide what they want or don't want to implement into their game. The players sending all these negative reviews must have become diselusioned some how... I have close to 2000 hours and see no reasons to complain in any way about this game. But that is me... I am patient and calculating by nature, always have been, always will be. I suppose I could see how a player that has been playing a lot and rebuilt many many times would grow tired of testing. Testing in the end just isn't for everyone. This is why many are opting out for now, to join in the fun later when the game is completed, aye? Lets remember... we are here as testers first. To rate an unfinished game seems a little bit silly to me. I cant give this game a rating yet, at least not an honest rating because its not finished. I am sure many players will return upon release... but warning is due now, they will likely be at a disadvantage to those that stuck with it and know how everything works. After all we have been around for all the changes, yes? Steam ratings for an unfinished game, I would not really consider any of them until after a certain length of time after release date. That is my advice anyway, good or bad, there it is. Three cheers for the Frigates and their galante Captains.
  10. Use the global chat... but be respectful. That is all they ask. Naval discipline dictates... 20 lashes, and the next offense will be a public hanging!
  11. This is creative... seems somewhat fair too, I like it when people think of things like this... although the strong controlling resources is somewhat realistic.
  12. … by this point, I think most of the Caribbean Islands had been explored... please notify me if I am wrong. Much of the South and North American continents were not explored by European persons yet though. And I also know that Europeans were exploring the far Pacific past the horns of Africa and South America, very dangerous journeys indeed.
  13. This is an interesting subject... I like your ideas. And perhaps with this could come alliances again.
  14. I like blockades... blockades are fun. In my humble opinion the most fun I have had at a port battle has been denying a port battle because of the open world element for combat. The form of blockade mechanic as posted by the perpetrator of this topic could be countered by the anti blockading fleets of the attacker, that is the faction that worked up the hostility or is working up hostility. That is... the blockaders, could they not be intercepted in the open world? After release it will be far more difficult for players to work up hostility because of the influx of all those players that have been waiting patiently to play the game upon full release. Hostility missions will become more difficult if players may join from both side for said hostility... So this encourages me to think that it would simply be better to perhaps have the hostility mission open for a time for both sides to respond... random open world players could join according to the battle rating of the attacking fleet, or perhaps subject to the preset battle rating for the port of interest. As long as you join within the preset countdown for the battle... you and your ship that you arrived in replaces an NPC... if you cant join, then an NPC ship of acceptable rank would randomly load in to replace the absent player(s). Perhaps even consider allowing any nationality to join on which ever side. This would be crazy but fun... also you would never really know who would be defending/fighting with you so... maybe not such a great idea, but I am crazy so.... yeah. I feel the negative vibes man... negative vibes. Anyway, I like the idea of having a controlled instance for a blockade against hostility missions. I do feel that the current system would need to be a little reworked though in order to support a change like this, as this would certainly make it more difficult to generate port battles in, not all, but some instances. This would allow larger clans to generally respond more to hostility build ups, that is, clans that span the globe and have players on at all hours. For small clans of 3 or 5 players... I don't really see the advantage... of course such small clans should probably focus more on other things than port ownership, at least that is what I would recommend. Any how, this was an interesting topic and I think it stimulated some creative thinking for me, thus, it was worth my while to respond. Good post, its not a fix all, but perhaps a few insights can be gleaned from this thread for future developments. Three cheers for the frigates and their galante captains.
  15. I passed the final exam first try... took me about an hour, I did it on the test server... I should probably try to pass it now that the new damage model is out... its been a while. If I am correct I will need to be even more careful than I was before... the new damage model is awesome! And... nice shooting Liq, I have been working on shooting like that... takes a lot of practice and knowledge of ship.
  16. Good idea mate, a good call. That other thread was getting flooded by history buffs.
  17. Wow... all these history buffs, I feel like the posts are getting a bit off topic here, anyone that has posted anything in this line should post at least something about what they love about frigates. Three cheers for the Frigates and their Captains!
  18. While your idea is intriguing to me, I have to say immediately that I feel very strongly that having DLC ships of rate 4 through 2 would be a bad idea. The DLC ships in my opinion should be limited to Frigates and smaller ships. The dangers of DLC line ships are relevant here, DLC line ships could also severely damage certain aspects of the in game economy for ship builders. And being able to just throw away a line ship and get it back with in a few days seems too easy. A line ship sunk should be very painful in game. I think it feels just about right where it stands. The line ships are Capitol ships, meaning... very very expensive and out of reach generally for the public unless you are part of a clan that does port battling and wargaming. Otherwise the more single and tactical players should stay in generally smaller ships... like privateers and corvettes or frigates. All this being said, I know your feeling, I was here once too, I eventually got a line ship. It took around several months time of gameplay to acquire the wealth required to purchase one 1rst rate. And then a few months more as a solo player to rank up. I owned the ship for around 3 months before I could underman it. But you know what? After I got the 1rst rate ship, I realized I liked smaller ships a lot more. Big ships are just too expensive for my economy to replace. So, I have developed my own game play, not around the biggest possible ship I can run, but instead around what my current economy can support and replace. When I take a larger ship out, it will only be because its replacement can be afforded by another, especially if the said ship is very heavy and slow. So in my opinion, I believe that all DLC ships should be kept smaller than larger. Besides players generally will play better if they feel like they need to protect that which they own in game. If the ships everyone is running could just be a cool down to replace we will have more scuffles. But the economy in game will be hurt. Anyway, that's it, these are may concerns regarding implementing Higher ranked DLC ships.
  19. The Renome was my first frigate I purchased, and kept. I loved her simplicity and beauty. She was very fast and agile. Capable of traveling over 15 knots, I used her to capture many a hapless trader. I then discovered the strengths of running a ship that had bow guns and stern guns... as this was before the server merge, this strength was nearly unpresidented, I used the unfair advantage to my greatest possible effect at the time regularly forcing ganking squads of 5 out of battle with my long guns at extremem range when chain shot was unlimited and the damage fall off from chain shot was not so abrupt. I could control any situation in that Surprise. Now I have to use other tactics in order to survive against the odds, this has forced me to learn to use the larger 5th rates. I agree, the frigates are also my favorite class of ship in game... especially the Light Frigates like Renome, Surprise and Cerberus. The addition of the Hercules to the light frigates was welcome to me also as it packs a good punch for a little ship, and I cant wait to get my hands on the Pandora when it comes available. As for the larger 5th rates... I am learning to sail them... I don't like them yet as they turn very sluggishly compared to what I am used to, and their point of sail strength is very different from the Light Frigates or Corvettes that I have so much experience in combat with. So… three cheers for frigates and their Captains!
  20. Yes, yes yeeeeeesssss. This looks very good. Please bring back alliances, if not between nations, then at least between clans. You know... a timed and signed contract between the leaders of said clans to initiate more political choices. This way... your buddies that are pirates could help your buddies in the US fight the same port battle against say... a Spanish clan that is not your ally! Just a thought.
  21. I have had the same issue, I want speed, and also to be able to see the ship traffic while inside my port. At least 180 degrees or slightly less... otr the ability to scout out the enemy ships that are anchored at said port as well.Cant hide an Indiaman at a bay after all.
  22. Both should die, it reflects well on the fact that you were both probably unable to secure the life boats in time and met death by the horrific jaws of sharks. Both crews annihilated.
  23. The servers together with missions in Reinforcement zones for PVE players and an unlimited open world for the PVP players, all on one server.
  24. What if they made PVE easier on the PVP server... such as … not having to travel 5 minutes to get a mission, instead creating a set of missions for those in mind that just want to get into an instant fight, they could still be missions in the open world , but only in reinforcement zones. The rewards could be similar to those in missions that require a longer voyage to help with the cost to risk problem from sailing in the open world. To be in a reinforcement zone would greatly reduce the number of players attacked doing missioning. This would decrease the opportunity for gankers in said zones as well because as more enemy ships load in a friendly reinforcement loads in as well, so the gankers would always be outnumbered by at least one big line ship. This would help the player doing his missioning. Then PVE players could be more at home on an otherwise PVP server. Then once the PVE players want to they can leave the protection of the Reinforcement zone and go discovering combat on another entire level later when they want to rather than just getting crunched right away. Also we should consider that old awesome thing called the arena, the PVP players could fight each other without losing their ships in the PVP arena, practicing against each other, sharpening their iron for PVP open world combat. The PVP arena was an invaluable resource for training newer players. It also offered a reliable opportunity for combat at the expense of nothing... so perhaps a reward system could be implemented for the winners and maybe a betting mechanic for the spectators, this would be fun and very competitive. There would be shame and glory in the crucible of the Arena. Why we could even have an entry fee, just a thought. We then could have one Naval Action Server... And to the issue of transporting goods and risk... well maybe you should take an escort with you... you know that any unguarded transport is fair game for pirates...
  25. The Rattlesnake is perfect for hunting traders brigs... And yes... I used it... others used it, not really in port battles , but it is a fantastic little ship for catching gribbleys. Definitely a nice little open world PVP ship.
