  1. That is correct. You must kill the AI defenders to be able to capture the Indiaman. Here is the post where the mechanics are explained:
  2. You can. Port LH discount stacks with the LH discount perks.
  3. But then what happens to those people that craft elite upgrades on purpose?
  4. There is a port bonus that already does this.
  5. Which is ridiculous and comes off as lazy coding (since the tab pop-up knows his spanish rank)
  6. I only keep 5k or less doubloons in my chest, and have gotten the rewards doubloons without issue. It seems to only be the mission chest rewards that disappear. I will keep an eye on it. I do get lag spike fairly often, so it could be a packet loss issue due to opening a chest during a spike.
  7. I would say the port bonuses already accomplish this, no?
  8. I've been having an issue where I open a mission chest and it is empty. At first I thought maybe it was dumping an upgrade or doubloons into my respective chests, but was finally able to confirm it was, in fact, an empty mission chest last night by taking careful note of all my inventories before and after opening. I asked in my clan discord, and it seems I'm not alone in experiencing this phenomenon. @Ink @admin, is this something you could look into? I F11'd it, but do not have the report number (I don't even know where to find them tbh, they do not appear for me when submitting that I see). Thanks,
  9. @admin can you clarify what "admiralty imported gift ship" means? Many are concerned about the effect of a daily seasoned wood first rate being available in the game.
  10. Did the Bellona not get the bump to 36pdrs with the Treacherous Waters II patch?
  11. Every ship in the game is ultimately a fairey tale ship, as realism has been changed for the sake of game play. But that is rather trivial. I agree the turn rate of the snow is disproportionately high, especially given as its length to beam ratio should put the turn rate somewhere between the Niagara and the Mercury (a long, narrow hull turns slower than a short, wide hull). But that isn't the argument you made by saying it was a "lake ship" that "sank before its maiden voyage". These latter premises are what I rebutted, as up until the above quoted post, you had yet to make any quantitative statement regarding the in-game ship.
  12. What is this "mild breeze" you speak of? Do you not understand what "sudden, severe storm" means? Also, Niagara, which most definitely was a lake ship and, ironically, was a snow-brig, is in game as well without anybody complaining about its inclusion.
  13. I think you are confusing HMS Ontario with Vasa (1628). Ontario foundered several hours into a voyage between Niagara and Rochester. Many seaworthy, ocean-going vessels have foundered in storms on the Great Lakes, so Ontario's fate does not directly speak to her seaworthiness, rather it simply relates to the severity of the storm in which she met her fate.
  14. It could have easily been an ocean-going vessel. The hull lines are markedly similar to other ocean-going brig-sloops of the era. It sank in a storm after being in service for 5 months, not "before its maiden voyage". It never saw battle because there was not an enemy naval presence on Lake Ontario during its service.
  15. Storms on the Great Lakes are not a few ripples in a pond. This argument against the Snow is tiresome. In fact, there are over 6,000 shipwrecks in the Great Lakes.
  16. that may be true, but since there is no way to tell if the basic cutter has a noob in it or not, and the person sailing it is at least equally likely to be a n00b or a vet, then we err on the side of caution and don't give PvP kill credit for clubbing baby seals, I mean, killing basic cutters.
  17. There was an issue after reset that required rolling back the server to yesterday. That is why you had to redo everything. The up side is, you have a free ship to redeem in your redeemables window.
  18. Structure starts getting damaged when the side HP gets below 50% (might be 30%, it's more than 0). As side HP decreases, more damage is dealt (call it reduced thickness if you want) because the center structure is taking damage as well as the sides.
  19. Yes. Attacking (player) traders, blockading ports (PvP kills), port raids (mini PB, like go destroy the towers or something, must have players able to defend), etc should all generate hostility.
