  1. Years of Wars have their scars. You guys need to grow up, complete ganking here. 2 vs 1.
  2. See you on the empty oceans. Oh I forgot you play Legends and kill noobs.
  3. Devs always ask for player reviews, here is one that contains 99% of new player problems that hasn't been fixed. I hope it helps. I will personally compare this with IU tutorial patch and see if any of these holes were sealed. Then I can clearly tell where this project will end up.
  4. Overreacting? I honestly trying to help Developers realize the problems. If you think it's hijacking you need to hop out of your tight world and explore a little. From this post you can pull so much information and plug all those holes that are still causing massive played loss and maybe then focus on advanced sailing, wind, sinking and damage models. Just my opinion.
  5. I understand your feelings here, we all do. Nothing you are saying here will change or fix the reality. Guy took his time and wrote a nice review, you on the opposite hand start to shi* all over him because we show the truth. Veterans defended these forums since I remember, but it didn't help population grow.
  6. Then your driver instructor who game you licence is a complete idiot.
  7. I don't think your point of view will change anything here the guy quit and NA has +1 bad review. Naval Action can't keep new players in the game because of bad game design. I think Developers decided to build this project from the wrong starting point. You remind me of one guy from potbs, he always said the same thing and when devs did some bad changes and game died he was still talking about the same thing, but he could not find any more fights and pvp he just sat there outside ports all day doing nothing and talking about same thing over and over again. Honestly I was expecting at least 500 players in Legends and we ended up with under 100 and when I play 40. I don;t think there is anything left to defend here, let's face the truth. NA US server is dead as well with total numbers from 3 servers reaching 670 players. Really sad.
  8. I really like this one because it shows us in what deep mess we are right now. This is negative review. Please take a look and thanks to this player for all the details. I will underline some important parts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you like playing Elite Dangerous only to do the Hutton run back and forth for days then you'll love this game. You get a basic ship for free and after some trail and error I was able to find some basic combat missions to get started. I followed the instructions and spent about 2 days chasing NPC ships, all of which completely overpowered me, trying to sink them because this is what I had been told to do. What you're actully supposed to do is sail to the area and then click on the double sword icon that appears above the ocean and you'll be taken to a battle. Alright fine, my bad, The combat is mercilessly tedius. Very well done in the terms of what naval combat of this age should be like but did you know there is a button on your keyboard that completly stops your ship and gives no indication it's been pressed or activated. I didn't. My ship slammed to a hault and the other player just swam round me. I thought this was a bug and judging by the reviews of this game many other people thught the same. Well I found that key. It's 'T' btw incase you ever find yourself in that situation. Turns out thats not the only thing which cases your ship to stop suddenly and refuse to sail. Turning into the wind too slow, hitting the shallows or even getting your crew "shocked" by too much cannon fire will all cause your ship to flounder around like it was that one kid eating glue in the sand pit. I wouldn't mind since these are actual situations a good captian should be aware of and would have to deal with, my problem is there is NO WAY OUT of these situations. Hit one and that's it, game over, you just sit back and watch the other guy park behind you and sink your ship only ti will take him about 10 minutes so you have time to re-evaluate your life priorities. So what about boarding actions you ask? The most exciting part of any 18th century Naval battle. You'd expect, like other games that have done this kind of thing before, games to Devs talk about this game being the spiritual successor to, that it would change to a fps style, sword and pistol action and you run around the deck of your ship furiously fighting off enemy boarders? No Boarding action turns everything into a Top Trumps style card game. Literally. I wish I was making that up. So after about a day of this, slogging through what is supposed to be a fun experience, I finally have enough money to buy a new ship. Finally out of the noob ship and into something good. And after a day of watching my♥♥♥♥♥get handed to me by ♥♥♥♥♥♥ little trader ships I'm looking forward to finally bringing the pain. I buy a good 6th rate ship, an all rounder, good at combat and useful for doing trade runs, fine. Click to sail and it turns out I cannot leave port with cannons, fine, I buy 24 of the basic cannons. Can't attach these to the ship. Right, ok what am I doing wrong? I notice a number next to my ships gun port, it says 9. Ok I guess I can only mount class 9 cannons there. I buy one, won't fit. After a lot of trail and error I find out that you can't just fit one cannon onto your ship, if your ship says it needs 24 cannons you need to buy EXACTLY 24 cannons and put them in that slot, otherwise it'll derp. Ok lesson learned. Still can't leave port. ok what now, now I need a crew. I have 40 crew, turns out I need 60. I hire an extra 20, the game puts all my crew back on the dock, I transfer them to my ship, it only puts 50 on the ship. Still can't leave port. Turns out becuase I spent so much money ♥♥♥♥ing about with cannons I can't hire those last extra 10 crew members my ship needs. I can't take a loan from a bank or anything, I can't sail without them and I have nothing to sell. Ok guess I'll go back to the basic ship and do another mission then right? No, first I have to sell this ship I've spent all my money on and taken so long to equip. At least I can get back some of the money I've spent right? Wrong. I sell back each 4,000 coin cannon for 1 coin each and my 46k ship will only sell for 14k, plus I now have to pay tax on that. So going back to my basic ship will put me right back to square one, where I started, a day ago. All becuase I could afford 505 gold for 10 extra crew members. This may sound nit picky but this scenario that I faced is basically this game in a nutshell. It's frustratingly complicated in area's that it shouldn't be complicated in, user unfreindly and the community, when they can be convinced to stop discussing World War Two, range from incredibly helpful to smug "work it out yourself!" elitists. I've wanted a game like this for a long time and I'm not going to give up on it. But I have to admit I am not having fun. This game is not fun, it's frustrating and if you're prone to rage quitting you may want to buy a cheap replacement keyboard before sitting down with Naval Action. I can't honestly recommend this game to anyone unless you have a serious boner for 18th century naval warfare. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Funny thing is , Developers introducing new mechanics, talking about new damage system, but completely ignore foundation. This guy is 100% right, this game is unplayable for new guys. Sorry. but it's true. Even section with selling , buying guns is so confusing that I don't think any tutorial will be able to explain that. (Bad design). In the end, this project seems to be a failure and I don't think there is time left to fix it. Next year will have so many new games that everyone will forget about NA.
  9. How about Devs hire a normal team and make Naval Action *perfect. After it's perfect we can have Captain's Club 9.99$ /mo same to eve online. I will pay, but... *PERFECT - New Engine that is capable of holding more than 10 npcs in 1 zone, and not a game where I can't even drag and drop items into the sea.
  10. I don't think there is much left to come back to, let the leader lead the horde of minions somewhere else.
  11. So, it seems NA will get released this year after all.
  12. I wish they put this much love into NA as they did in Civil War. Same concept would work great here. Civil War and Oceans.
  13. This can easily be figured out to prove time sink design will fail in such a big open world. All we need is sand in 2 different colors. Lets say normal sand color and red. -1 Bag of (Normal) sand will equal to world size. Fill 1 Bucket (5gal). -1 Bag of (Red) sand will equal for player amount actually sailing and not in battle/port. Fill 1 Glass Now pour a glass of red sand into a bucket of normal sand and mix it well. Can you tell me if you will see red after you mix? Ok now on top of that add more normal sand about (2/4 of a bucket) for (battles/port activity/mod gathering/moving etc). This extra sand = no players on OS = no pvp. This extra sand is not benefiting the mixture as bucket is already full. Just think about this concept there is more to it, I can't write it all. Also, What happens to red sand if you keep mixing? If you can figure out how to make equal mixture then you will succeed.
  14. No one will play game like this. Not sure sure why would they design this massive time sink? Player can barely do 1 fight in an hour and if he has no repairs or ship ready he won't even try.
  15. Naval Action time requirement to unlock 1 slot on Constitution is: 1. Gather Repairs and rum. 2-5 mins 2. Sail them to your main port. 30mins-1 hour 3. Fit your ships 2-5 mins 4. Sail and look for fleets 20-30 mins 5. Chase the fleet 20-40 mins 6. Actual battle up to 30 mins (size matters) 7. 1/4 until unlock Jump out and repair , start searching for next fleet 20-30 mins 8. Repeat from Step 4-7 three more times. Approximately 460 Minutes=7.6 hours just to unlock 1 slot and get 4 Decent Fleet NPC fights.
  16. Time. Let's ask Devs can they fit PvE and PvP content in one hour. Player logs in gets information , daily bonus, assignments. He can check open world map and figure out where pvp is , where pve is and he can easily find a group. He can get mods and fitting, repairs and ships in every port and quickly bring it all to pvp. Can this be squeezed into 1 hour? I think it can. Problem is we have simulator fans who will reject any arcade like idea here.
  17. The biggest problem is time. Player invested time and got nothing. In some MMOs loosing everything is fine, but not in this one. NA World is too big to test such mechanics here. It will never work. You have only dedicated community left that are Naval Fans and yes they will defend what we have now until game is dead. You can paint over it with cool stuff and activities and hide it under , but in the end paint will wear out and same issue will arise again. I am very sorry that Developers do not see it after such a long time. 700 people from 100 000+ decided to stay and still play. Can this be any clearer? What those other thousands of players wanted? Why not go back and see. I am sure all what we are trying to achieve here is to give those who left this game what they wanted.
  18. Not all have vision of what is going on in Naval Action. Some play in their boxes and ignore other outside problems and that is fine, but never shut doors to other people views. They all matter. Every post here has .1 % chance to contribute to something greater and that is including you.
  19. Guys stop fighting , it's clear we need extra durability on ships to promote pvp. Extra durability is only a part 10% of the problem that is contributing to reduced pvp activity. Adding extra durabilities will surely increase pvp, but not enough to keep it going. Other things must be added with it in order for this whole thing to work.
  20. Let's try to figure out why on average people only play for only 16 minutes and log out. That number is listed on steamspy. Let's pretend it's correct. Phase One (Log in) Cons: -No Popup Windows informing of Hostility News in your nation -No Mail with Daily Missions requests and Trade Runs -No Mail with Hot PvP zones alerts -Repetitive Missions is the only PvE content -Epic Events Require 6 1st rate group and does not drop ship notes -NPC fleet hunt that require 30-40 minute chase runs in order to catch them. Great for ship XP grind, but takes too long. -Empty Oceans require long search for NPC fleets. It will take an average of 20 mins to find a decent fleet based on your location. (Trailed 1 fleet myself just to see where it goes, trust me you will not find it. Devs claim there are many fleets, but their routes are 90% in the middle of nowhere + no one sails there ever. So, that is why no one can find these fleets. In addition, Fleet speed is slightly greater than any average 4th rate and there is no way to catch them directly, only if you trail and wait fore them to turn). Waste of content imho. Fill active areas with fleets and add random spawn OS battles that players can join. ex. I sail into nowhere and I see 'swords' , I click and it says - 2x 4th rates attack 1 trader. Objective: Kill Attacker. Reward: Gold + Random Trader Reward. I now decide If I am fit to fight and join NPC battle. Rinse repeat. Devs need to fill oceans with these and reroute fleets to coast and active areas. Please. -Low Trader drops make NPC trader hunt useless -No random fleets. As mentioned before Treasure Fleets, Privateer Fleets, Resupply Fleets, Escorted Fleets, Hunting Fleets, War Fleets etc... Make some aggressive. Pros: -Active non stop Chat where you can BS for 16 minutes and log out -Click few Econ buttons and sell your goods and log out Phase Two (One Durability Ships and Mods) Cons -Player will loose his ship if he is sunk, plain and simple. Player will not try to explore or sail far from safe zone. -No decent rewards that promote risk. If there is a mission chain with end reward (Ship Note) , then yes players will risk. -No insurance to secure your 1 durability ship and get something back. -Mods and Cargo will get lost if sunk. No option to negotiate. (Give up 50% of cargo and jump out). -No OS trade between players. Players have to sail back and forth to refill repairs and resupply. They can just share reps and continue OS fun. Pros -New sailing mechanics are very fun and exiting. Phase Three (21 Days After) After about 21 days without any new content players start to get bored and look somewhere else. There is nothing to keep them in the game. Let's see what could keep them in the game from my perspective: 1. Stackable durabilities. Increase ship demand, promote pvp and reduce fear factor of last durability loss. Simply order 2 ships from your shipright and go hunting. With stackable durabilities players will not loose mods, but only when killed on last durability ship. 2.Daily Missions. Tab for daily Epic/Trade/Hunting/Treasure etc.. missions. Group/Solo options must be present. 1st time log in daily mail with daily rewards and achievements. Player open mail and start filling achievements and receive reward after. 3. Junk Loot that can be collected and converted to Basic Paints. Add Premium paints and rare ones to epic events and store. Such loot can also be linked to NPC merchants exchange to goods option. 4. Insurance. There is no need to explain here. Give player option to insure ships and they will risk knowing they get money back when sunk. All sides win. 5. Open arena where players can practice against each other without ship loss. 6. Detailed Open World Map with zones indicating hostility or NPC kill activity. 7. Ship notes must drop from NPCs. Rare chance , but it has to be there. I talked to Vets and they refuse to do any Events because reward is too low and not worth time spending. If someone got 2nd rate Note from a Fleet everyone will then want one. Let the fun begin, hunters will have prey. PvE guys will have rewards. I think if Devs can add all this we can have players average time in game at least 1 hour guarantee. *My daily activity, I trail fleets and if I find players I hunt. That is about it. Kill fleets to unlock slots and hope to find pvp. Sell produced goods, log out. This is all to it Naval Action. You can also go to populated areas and get ganked.
  21. Next thing we see: -Mods removed -Marks removed Back to stone age.
