I completely agree that there should be more -reasons- to trade stuff between ports. This would certainly help. Honestly 'center area' towns should have a need to be supplied with basic resources from 'outer ring' towns to even be able to make their 'advanced resources'. On a side note t.b.h. the amount of trade goods each port is able to sell should be dependant on the 'wealth' of the city. Which should be dependent on providing the needed supplies for consumption and for sending 'colonial' goods back to their respective home countries. Basically, a sort of proper economic model for towns.
