  1. Same! Im stuck on the Washington campaign on MG. I've even restarted a new MG campaign to try to improve on each battle to have a stronger army.
  2. @kjchan I just completed a battle a few days ago and marye's wasn't tough as I thought it would be even on MG. I used a arty heavy corps. I kept my ord and 20pd batteries in shell range and focused on counter battery fire while I sent 4 12-gun brigades of 6 pd (captured and cheap) up close to pound the far right of the CSA line since only one brigade holds that section. After bombardment, I rushed two cannon fodder brigades into melee to break the line and then pushed me regulars through the hole and enveloped the rest of the CSA line easily. Just focus on the weakest part of the line and once you are past it, it's easy flanking. Just keep in mind that the next "phase" the rebels are likely to send several brigades to attack your left flank if your attack is too successful. I had to hold off the counter attack during the last phase of battle with my rookie corps. I lost more men holding the line here then I did assaulting the heights. But I was able to encircle the CSA army and destroy it so it worked out in the end.
  3. I'm at the Washington campaign on MG and I'm working on Vicksburg and Nashville. These battles are so damn bloody, it's hurting my army bad. I beat Vicksburg but I lost to many men when I wasn't able to destroy the union army. Its crazy to have to attack the fortifications when I'm outnumbered 1:1.25ish and out gunned 4:1. Its my first time doing these as I got bored in BG mid way through and went to MG. Looks like I prob should go back and finish off the BG campaign to practice. Quick question for those that have been successful on MG. What troop strength did you have going into Washington? My army pre-Vicks/Nash is sitting at 75k with ~300k$ and 30k personnel. Thankfully I captured 200k supplies at cold harbor when I destroyed the union army so I have money to spend to bump up my brigade strength if needed. I'm getting the feeling I need to recruit some cannon fodder brigades, am I right?
  4. I didn't even think to flank big round top lol. I pushed my infantry to the south of the the peach orchard while using snipers to harass the unions flanks. I was able to encircle their force to the north and destroy/capture all the support but took a lot of casualties holding little round top from the last waves of union reinforcements. I'll have to try your maneuver next time, hopefully I can get my cas down from 13k to 11k or so on MG. I'm still struggling to get a good general skill set when starting a leg campaign and I'm not about to invest in a campaign with a Cavalry skill when I'm awful at micro managing those units lol.
  5. My force is ~70k on MG, I'm about to fight Chickamauga. past maxing politics and medicine...focus on learning to use cover and flanking to your advantage at all times to be able to limit your own casualties and inflict maximum on the union forces, especially in the minor battles. Check out Col Kelly's Legendary campaign videos, you can learn a ton (I sure have)
  6. No, Not really. The union starting using Harpers Ferry's early around Gaines mill but only recently got into the good stuff right before Gettysburg.
  7. 250-300 if I recall using scoped whitworths. Both ended with around 2k kills. But even more valueable is their effect on enemy morale. They can wreck the flanks as the AI tries to build up for an offensive. On a previous campaign, I made a sniper skirm brigade for the heck of it and was amazed how effective they can be if you can take the time to micro manage. So on this campaign, I made sure to buy up every scoped whitworth I could.
  8. My MG battle a few days ago went as follows: (I counter attacked hard at 2nd Mannassas as to try to reduce the union forces and it worked) Union: 75033 infantry 2541 calvary 183 guns CSA: 57610 infantry 835 calvary 96 guns Losses: Union: 42021 infantry 84 guns 787 calvary 820 missing CSA: 14815 infantry 16 guns 86 calvary This was my best round yet. I held the tree line around dunker church while performing a "weak front" delaying action in the field and trees east of the church north of the sunken road to slow the union advance allowing me to set up a L defensive line. Used 2 sniper skirm brigades coming down off nico hill and flanking to completely wreck the 3* union brigades and cannon. Once I took out the 3* iron brigades and others and had bled the union a great deal with them charging the church and bloody lane, I sent my 4 elite brigades and destroyed their right flank. By the time the union reinforcements arrived over the creek, all I had to stop was 2 pushes and I won the day.
  9. @civsully1The 1st day can be very bloody if the union get into the woods with you, just like the real battle if my memory serves me correctly. I've done several of the battles on MG, if I catch the union in open ground, I can pound them at very minimal loss. If not, I'll take several hundred casualties before getting them out.
  10. Hey col k...what do you feel is the difference in AI troop strength from MG to Legendary?
  11. Great work as always! I'm struggling on MG, can't imagine legendary yet.
  12. I feel like this should be an option we can choose.
  13. Is there a way to change general abilies? Every time I start at major general campaign, I get stuck with abilities/perks that I do not want. Please advise. Thanks.
  14. Offensive battles I prefer 10pdr ordinance for range of fire while for defensive battles, the 24pdr really shines. My 24pdr brigade had ~3500 kills in my last CSA 2nd bull run.
