  2. French Flag: Les Corsaires de Saint Malo

The flag of Saint-Malo is blue, red white. Corsairs were flying red colors as attack flags. During the reign of Louis XIV, flags of war ports were all united background colored with a silver cross (white), the backgound being specific to each port (azure for Saint-Malo). Finally, a passing ermine tied with gold (colors specific to the weapons of the city), recalling the belonging of Saint-Malo to the Duchy of Brittany.

This flag was flown by the corsairs of Saint-Malo (René Duguay-Trouin, Robert Surcouf), in addition to the Royal Flag (which was normally flown by war ships of “La Royale” only).

Corsairs of Saint-Malo got a special authorisation to fly the Royal Flag, in spite of not belonging to La Royale, and their own flag below. In fact, the Flag of Saint-Malo was often flown above the Royal Flag, which can still be seen now a days in some city buildings…

The next revision of our User Guide is being written-up. This update 2020-03 will include:

    • More details on crafting in forge (resource needs for each type of gun),
    • More details on hostility mission mechanics,
    • More details on raids,
    • More details on the role of friendly clans,
    • Update on chests,
    • Check on ship list and main data, update if necessary (Naval Action Map stays the detailed reference on that point),
    • Document in A4 instead of A5.

    Any other need?

Revision 02 issued. The link is updated in the first post.

I decided not to create an external link to this forum, the permanent link will stay:

    https://forum.game-labs.net/topic/33234-naval-action-user-guide/

The advantage is to give a link to the place where comments can be made if something must be further clarified, or must be corrected.

Who uses the 3rd rate for anything anyway?

    Don't be negative. 🙂

After renaming the ship in a less generic name, her characteristics could be adapted more carefully, taking into account the real ship chosen.

So, don't just propose a ship name, but when possible add which strong and weak characteristics should be raised up.

I would think in Vanguard, with increased turn rate.

  6. (*) Hubert Le Loup de Beaulieu is one of my favourite French captains. Aging cousin of the young Louis Garneray, he was in command of the French frigate La Forte. Because of his age, he would soon receive command of a Ship of the Line, boring ship in which usually nothing happens. He made the following observation: the best gift that God can give to a man in this condition is a 24-pound ball in the chest. And God answered to this prayer on his next cruise back to France, when La Forte met HMS Sybille. (God was obliged to use a 18 pound ball, because 24 pounds were not available in this area in the Royal Navy frigates).

HMS Sybille could be a great addition too. 😉

  7. If this topic is for suggestions for future DLC's:

    • A Dhow (2 mast "xebec", with weaker armament and crew, and bigger hull).
    • A lugger (might be a trader with improved fishing capabilities and reduced sailing crew because sails can be operated from decks in luggers).
    • A DLC like Admiralty Connections, which would give 4 more outposts ("East India Connection"). 😃
    • French frigate L'Egyptienne (50 guns, 30 x 24lbs + 20 x 8lbs, that can be replaced by 9pd). Can be preferably called "La Forte", which is mentioned in books written by Louis Garneray who sailed in her, under command of Hubert Le Loup de Beaulieu. (*)
    • Hébé Class frigate (26 x 18lbs + 8 x 8lbs).

Read it and despite playing for the past year and a half on Peace, I learned about a few new things.

One thing that might be nice to have is how hostility mission works. I took part in my first one this weekend and there was quite an emphasis on the exact time to leave a combat instance and the number of ships. Contextually, I assume that the more ships sunk means that the clan/nation has an advantage in being awarded the PB mission but I don't understand why a precise time to leave a combat instance is so important.

    Thanks for the comment.

This point will be clarified in next revision (2).

In great lines, the clan of the player who takes the hostility mission is the one who will earn hostility points. Even if a single player of this clan participates to hostility fights and 9 players of another clan helps. These 9 players don't need to belong to friendly clans of attackers. (1)

Hostility can raise only in the PB timer defined by defenders. Points are added at the moment when all attackers leave the hostility mission. If the last attacker leaves out of the PB timer, no point will be added.

Port Battle will be set 24 hours after hostility reaches 100%.

    (1) The role of the friendly clan list, in crafting and in RVR, also needs to be more detailed in the guide.

    (2) Next revision of the guide will probably be uploaded beginning of March .

That is what we actual did. No interference in the Swedish russian war. That even includes other NATO powers. But if we are attack we will defend.

To all... If Prussians stop RVR, they will have more time for PVP... We will soon hear some whiners here! 😅😂😀😃😄😆

I see more spanish, Dutch, Swedish, pirates, (Brits) leaving Mantua than russians.

Brits can go to Spain capital waters from Xpua or Tantun, Russians from Contoy and all others from Tumbado.

Closing Mantua will not be a fundamental change, but if this helps...

Problems with all the stuff ppl post:

Russia continues to outzerg all nations

Once sweden actually goes for russia it gets attacked by a random nation and all gains vs russia are lost due to multiflips by russia + that random nation. That is also why prussia is so difficult atm.

Why doesnt prussia join any side? Simply because its not clear yet who will be on the losing side.

There will be no war until the result of the war will be predictable?  😞

At least, thanks, nice to know it...

What would you do if Russia decides to attack Spain from Great Corn?

    Hear ye, hear ye!

The König von Preußen and his Council of Ministers, after taking into consideration the latest events, declare their neutrality in the conflict between Russia and Sweden and their allies.

    I like this declaration.

Not because I think that the "ministers" who sign the chart fear a conflict on the War Server, but simply because this could, at last, stop the war by delegation between Sweden and Russia (the two strongest factions at the moment, the two really worthy adversaries).

What are we seeing at the moment? Russia attacking Spain instead of Sweden, Sweden attacking Great Britain instead of Russia. (LOL). Sweden sending ultimatums to Great Britain to prevent them to attack Spain, and ultimatums to Prussia for protecting Verenigde Provinciën, but never sending ultimatums to Russia. Or an ultimatum sent by Russia to protect Prussia (both are attacking VP, no?)

So, Denmark/Norge, France, Great Britain, Spain, United States, Verenigde Provinciën, Pirates, Poland and Prussia need authorisations from Russia and/or Sweden to fight each others...

I'd better like to see Sweden fighting Russia than wars per delegation. And other nations "allowed" to fight, at least in screen, without having the Damocles Sword on them: "If you take any action, we will stop the war against the real opponent and we will take your crafting ports, officially for the fun, but in fact because we like fighting when victory cannot be contested."
