  1. Needs addition of 36 manual 2pd guns on broadsides because boarding is too risky atm. Tymo is not leading the PvP challenge every day, that must be fixed. Built-in poods included in DLC price is mandatory. As a drastic increase of speed, upwind and downwind.
  2. This ship is almost always overloaded by crew reinforced (hamock and crew space). I fought one who bravely boarded my pickle 360 vs 55. But the xebec speed was not affected by 110 extra boys onboard, plus the necessary stuff, food, weapons, ammunition and girls. I do think that extra crew should impact the ship performance by increasing weight in hold.
  3. La Bisquine de Cancale, a typical lugger. Some of these are still sailing in the Channel and in the Atlantic ocean: Recent photographs of such ships:
  4. This ship was, in real life, unable to sustain bad weather and long travels. Barbarians used them only for coastal purposes. In naval action, it should be limited to a few days at sea. Bad weather should strongly impact speed and turn rate. High level above water of bow and stern should give a tremendous drift to a such light ship, because water resistance on underwater hull is tiny. When the US made the blockade of Tripoli in 1803, no xebec went out. They would have no chance to win, they could capture USS Philadelphia only because she was aground on a reef. In naval-action, a Constitution would lose vs a xebec.
  5. +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 ! I spend the week-end in trying to get PvP, with my British account. KPR / Belize are the right places for that. I got a single interesting battle. All others spoiled by Xebecs. A fight vs a Xebec is for sure no fight. I explain: Either the Xebec have not 100% chance to win ==> he will run without any chance to others to keep him in fight. Or the Xebec has no chance to lose the fight. He will attack in a PV0 fight (Player vs Zero chance to win). So, at least put that shits out of PB's. Or equip the Motar Brigs with a nuclear missile DLC (you clic on a port on the map, and 20 mins later, the port looses the fight whatever the forces in presence). The Xebec could be improved by: Add an in-built 60% marine advantage for the Xebec (I noticed that boarding an L'Ocean gives a chance to the 1st rate to wind, which is abnormal in Xebec-Action). Deny the Determined Defender against a Xebec. (Why refusing PV0?) Add an In-built Determined Defender for the Xebec (due to bad smelling of such overcrowded ships, no sailor wishes to board, even fully drunk) add a couple of 22" long range torpedos at rear of the Xebec, in case of Xebec being obliged to run downwind, giving a fleet of 25 Fir/Fir full speed fitted Princes a chance to get it (and sinking a Xebec is fully abnormal isn't it?) Replace the 2pd guns at the front by 68pd long guns (in built, free, and authorized on Xebecs only).
  6. Simple: determined défendre is as stupid as the xebec. @Thonys, thanks.
  7. I purchased this DLC. For helping development. But as I think that the general characteristics of this thing brakes completely the game balance, I decided: - Not to use it - Immediate surrend in case of fight with this stupiity (why should I give fun to thi kind of users). This ship is Breaking Economy, Breaking PvP and Breaking all other ships in game. In PvP, it can't be joined when running. No ship can run from her stupid sailing characteristics, may be the Lynx only (but what against 362 crew and 9lbs longs / 32 lbs carros in a Lunx: Nothing). The game will be soon reduced to a single ship: her Stupidity the Xebec.
  8. Please delete this. Don't know why this duplication
  9. What I affirmed was confirmed by Desmoines, in French, above. By the way, that's true that I made a break on my French account, to develop and see what to do with my British account, and find fun here or there, depending on events. From this crossed experience, I must say that I did find some differences and some similitudes, between Port Battles in Placer, Placentia, Bensalem and Carriacou, having participated to both in the screening/scouting fleet. - Placer: The Spanish fleet screened for Britain, and intercepted the Danish PB fleet. Poland screened for Danemark/Norge, but hey were absent of all fights I saw. As a result, the British port was saved. - Placentia: The screening fleet did not intercept the Spanish PB fleet. The port was captured by Spain. - Bensalem: The screening fleet did not intercept the Spanish PB fleet and had to face a very strong Spanish screen fleet. The port was captured by Spain. - Carriacou: France got help from Dutch (I don't know which clans, probably LIONS). Sweden attacked the Dutch fleet (CABAL?), with some success. The French screen fleet intercepted the Russian PB fleet. Yes, the French fleet suffered losses, and French captains involved in the screening fleet know that their first task is not to make CM's, nor even to survive, but to keep the enemy PB fleet in fight during the necessary time. As a result, the port was saved. My British friends would excuse me, but the result in Carriacou, at an accepted cost, was better than the result at Placentia and Bensalem. And I had more fun in Placer, Placentia, Bensalem and Carriacou, than reading this post

  10. You do not know what you are telling about. All these affirmations are wrong.
  11. Let's wait and see, but I am fearing another patch aiming to focus players to PvP only, by removing all other activities, in particular economy, and by replacing money by combat marks, PvP marks and victory marks... In fact, I feel quite glad of the development delay.
  12. Now, there are DLC's in this game, which fine for game development Economy. I would suggest to add the possibility to DLC purchase some Pood Edinorogs a day Not a great daily quantity, something like 6 per day, to spawn again the day after only if redeemed. Pood Edinorogs are so fun for carronade lovers! 😍 With capability for players who can't or don't want to use DLC to get them elseway...
  13. Another way to balancing ships is to add the capability of musket/grenade fire from marines before boarding, at short range (50 metres). This would prevent seeing Snows or Renommees ( Naval Action: 100 Days at Sea Quest (Koto Rica Trip) #4 ) sinking 2nd rates 1v1, just by staying broadside touching broaside to the Buc. Historically, the small ship crew would have been massacred by light weapon fire.
  14. http://mnm.webmuseo.com/ws/musee-national-marine/app/collection/record/8950 See "le Requin". Her model is exposed in le Musėe de la Marine in Paris. She was a shallow water ship, with 24 guns (8 livres françaises= 8.5 pd, almost 9pd), and 36 pierriers (small canons which can fire stone balls instead of iron balls, might be replaced by swivels?) http://mnm.webmuseo.com/ws/musee-national-marine/app/collection/record/8951 Another interesting link for "le Singe" a smaller chebec with a mixed rigging, main and rear masts squared. Quite a famous ship in France, was commanded by Suffren, who made plans to use some of these ships in the Channel against British traders (20 x 6pd guns). EDIT: Love "Le MusĂ©e National de la Marine". Better visit that than the Eiffel Tower or Le Louvre!
  15. Could I get several of these? (Is she tradeable between players). I'd like to test her as an harassment ship vs the daily Bellona visits we daily have off Fort-Royal. For sure I'll lose her soon!
  16. Yes, @Banished Privateer, you are a pain. Because 100 days at sea is too short. Need at least 250!
  17. King is not a pain, nor a risk. He is a fact. In France, we are enthusiasts about new comers, especially from North America. @Raxius. They need you to become a pain. Would you need some VM's to help settlement?
  19. I am not OK with any RNG function in crafting. *** But: *** I should be OK with special knowledge a crafter could learn, some knowing how to build an agile ship, some a fast one, or something else.
  20. I guess the Free State of Puttanelle is multinational. Any frontier here?
  21. Il y avait aussi quelques petits malins qui faisaient exprĂšs, une fois la bataille finie, de couler les PNJ amis pour les piller.
  22. So simple knowing that! Just find 15 ranks for each nation, knowing that some of them won't be strictly historical.
  23. Since I play Naval Action, I am somehow disappointed with the French Ranking in Naval Action. I made some checks to confirm or refute my intuitions. Now, I can propose something. I know this is a detail, but this may be important for immersion in the timeline. Please, refer to Wikipedia - Grades de la Marine nationale française Google translation is your friend, but I can be too if some further clarification is necessary. First remark, for determination of the highest rank, ranks above “Lieutenant GĂ©nĂ©ral des ArmĂ©es Navales” are honorific ranks only (limited to old fat guys like I am more and more). I would have preferred to limit the highest rank in Naval Action to something lower than that (the Lieutenant General du Ponant was in fact commanding the French Fleet in Mediterranean Sea), but there are not enough ranks below this, as commanding officers, even of tiny boats. Taking into account the ranks used from Colbert (minister of Louis XIV) to 1786, I propose the french ranking to be: Garde de la Marine Capitaine de FlĂ»te Lieutenant de FrĂ©gate Enseigne de Vaisseau Capitaine de BrĂ»lot Lieutenant de Vaisseau Capitaine de FrĂ©gate Capitaine de Vaisseau Chef d’Escadre Lieutenant GĂ©nĂ©ral
  24. Don't know. Don't care. Maybe, this can be understood, maybe not. Just the same as when HAVOC switched to VP. We got the same warning when KoC boys came in. And they attacked our allies. And we survived. And we will survive! "I am the Belle Poule, frigate of the King of France; I come from the sea and I go to the sea; the ships of the King, my master, never submit to inspection." (Charles de Bernard de Marigny, Commanding La Belle Poule, which was at that moment just between HMS Hector & HMS Courageux, both 74-guns)
