Ah thank you.
I am thinking of writing a review on Steam for this game. Never done a steam review.
Just need to get round to it, just like I need to get round to creating a new player guide PDF which I'd like to post a link to within the review.
Time will tell.
I'm a bit long in the tooth, well what's left of them so I am fairly attuned to BS in the game review world.
My benchmark for a decent honest review is always PC gamer magazine and rockpapershotgun.
No one is infallible and sometimes there are agendas and as you said at the end of the day it's all down to personal perception at the front end.
I remember playing and loving POTBS and was shocked at the terrible review in PC gamer at the time. All the gameplay shots were in zoomed out view of the battles which looked truly shit when the real drama was at deck lvl as if you WERE the captain of the ship.
The person who'd did that review imo probably didn't really have much interest in an age of sail game or just didn't have time to do a proper review due to deadlines or as the 1 page review suggested the publisher itself just didn't have enough 'clout' with the magazine.
Who knows.
As for fanboy spam hate type, from a personal point of view I find that all quite hilarious.
They just make themselves look like nasty little idiots, which of course they are.
If I fancy a good chuckle then the youtube comments section under pretty much any video is only a click away.
Things could get really interesting soon when it should be possible with VR gloves and sensor helmets to actually reach in to your computer and give someone a real smack in the mouth Can't wait.
