I own some books covering the timeframe. One of them deals with the development of the warships in this era, but is maily focused on 1905 to 1970. I'm sure you have better sources.
But I own an exemplar of this book: https://www.booklooker.de/Bücher/Eberhard-von-Mantey+Unsere-Marine-im-Weltkrieg-1914-1918/id/A02hKPoh01ZZQ?zid=bc1aa4af378e6cada2b5703a413c311a
It covers all operations the german navy undertook during WW I, written by suvivors. The quality of the reports is mixed, but some are quite usefull. Also it contains a lot of pictures. Unfortunately it's written in german. Maybe it is usefull ...?

surely the horror for afk-sailors.

Maybe I'm foolish on this, but I allways have the light blocks and ropes book abord, since I very often change sails during combat depening on course, intended maneuver and current situation. E.g. when I'm jibing and want to outturn my opponent, I use the setup with the lessest staysails or at least depower (besides from lowering sais in general to reduce speed). From theory it should make me turn faster, but at least it reduces the way made during manouver.
Now I am a bit confused due to the statements made here. @admin stated that right now there is no increase in turn-rate (it's planned), which corresponds with my observation. But, since it is nearly impossible to tack without staysails, I always had the feeling that it makes sense to get rid of them while jibing. Now I wonder, is this pure imagination or working as I'm thinking of it?

the Devs need to fix "broken" game mechanics, but it's alts that are the reason for most of it.
But you cant do anything against alts, so implementing bullet-proof mech that prevents abuse is the only solution.
I personally don't mind any farming alts but I feel very pitty for every feature that is taken away becaus of possible alt farming abuse :-(

How is it a raid ?
Then maybe call it a blockade, the name does not matter anyway imho.
I like this idea.

Call me a moron if you like, but isn't the term Rate Ship is interchangeable with a Line Ship?

And btw: I've lost several ships to AI. And I'm an experienced player for 1.5 years now and I've spend hundreds of game hours and I am really frustrated by the gameplay atm.
I am an relatively unexpierenced player with round-about 80 in-game hours and only a handfull of PvP expierence. But I never ever lost a single ship to the AI (on my first battle [pre-wipe] I had to make a run to avoid this). Maybe there is still some room to improve your tactics as described by @Eyesore in the posting above.
But I have to admit that the mission-grinding has become very hard for beginners since the introduction of the rookie-ships. I think for a basic-cutter-skipper with no clue a rookie-snow as opponent is a bitter-welcome to the game. I hope the devs check their logs on how well new players perform in missions.
For the expierenced mission-grinders I think it's ok if they pay a price for making mistakes. Sad thing about the mission-grinding is that any expierence you take from it does not benefit you in PvP fights.

So it will move to next round means the points you get at the end of the round are the points you start with at the 2nd round
Funny thing is, i understood it in the opposite way :-/

How can you measure 3km in game?
By counting the map-squares.

I'd really love to see an actual statistics of the ingame ship-usage.
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who loves the pickle. It's pos makes it a good allrounder which gives you the choice if to take a battle on any encounter - if you have enough room to manouver.

The more danger, the more honor.

Why not remove some players that make unpopular suggestions instead?
I'm sure your suggestion was not serious.

You spent a lot of time and dedication to that. Really cool! Good guide with the right spirit!
Thnx a lot :-D

Nothing against such Ideas, but its a daydream ... you can not transport cargo for 8 billion people with that ... its the same with a lot stuff from the same direction works in small scale but not in a bigger scale.
If you talk about the fair-transport guys who sail in old vessels, well yeah, it's quite romantic, for sure.
But when it comes to the dyna-riggers, I think this has a lot potential on the main sipping-lanes when used in hybrid-context. The basic idea of the rigg is from the 70's and there is surely a reason why only one commercial ship of that type (the falcon) was built so far. Maybe it an issue about oil-prices ... time will tell.
And after all, aren’t we all play NA becaus we like romantic daydreams? :-D

To me nitty-gritty of this idea sounds like outlaw-battles for everyone or allow green-on-green in general.
Or is it about to have clans only instead of nations? Would make solo-players neutral and give them a hard time. Not a very welcoming environment for beginners.

Thanx for this report, really enjoyed reading it. (hoping for more of this kind of stuff)

Hi,
thought maybe some of you would like it: a link to a company that's actually using old sailing-vessels for cargo hauling and are also working on dyna-rigg sailing-ships for green transport:
Also working on dnya-riggers: http://www.b9energy.co.uk/B9Shipping/tabid/4036/language/en-US/Default.aspx

I dont like this idea. What would the ow look like if any clan or group makes it's own faction? Would result in kind of death-match game then.
Maybe it's a better idea to ease up nation-switches instead.

which is very intuitive btw ;-)

- Do something against the "tag-griefing" (repeatedly beeing tagged in ow but always able to escape in instance) issue
- tune the speed-upgrades, so more divergence in ship-speed is seen (not to have everybody in a 15Knt whatever)
- reduce raw-matieral extraction prices

we had a period where every single sail could be controlled manually
To have this would make a dream come true.
(never been sailing a square-rigger in rl - so I'd love the expirence in game)

Would be nice to hear a little bit more about the intentions. As far as I remember, there have not been much encounters in the first part of the timeframe. Except from some duck-shooting in east asia there has been the battle at port arthur and ww I. Or am I missing something?
