  1. Sooooo everyone else is skipping 2nd Winchester as Union as well, right? Yeesh thats a tough one
  2. I moved my avatar to a division commander spot when I received Johnston after Shiloh. Seeing him killed at Antietam was a bit painful.
  3. I will draw out maneuvers specifically for flanking. It helps avoid any flanking damage on the unit while it maneuvers into place, letting them approach on a good angle to fire. I also will draw out orders so units will follow paths. Great way to get reinforcements to where they are needed sooner. I think where it truly shines is with cavalry.
  4. Well now I feel like I made the wrong call. My Fayetteville brigade was further North, sitting in the woods and only racking up around 3K kills. There weren't any supply issues with my snipers, but then again I had a steady stream of captured supply wagons moving behind the lines.
  5. Dedicated skirmishers are incredibly useful when equipped with Whitworths and above and smartly positioned. As Hitori said, if you have them deployed on a flank they can vastly out perform artillery. During Antietam as the CS my skirmishers notched over 7,000 kills. They spent the majority of the battle sitting in the nook between Dunker church and the sunken road. With distance, open fields of fire and a good spot they will whittle opposing units to nothing. Just make sure they don't charge themselves into the mass of the enemy. I've had to recapture my skirmishers before when I took my attention elsewhere and they decided to get closer.
  6. I did just have a random artillery battery spawn behind union lines (while playing as CSA) when the battle switched to the second Prospect Hill phase. I feel like the new phase is a great compromise, and allows you (if you know it's about to happen) to position enough of your middle corps to assist with the third phase if needed. It's also nice to take a break from Marye's Heights, after 3+ hours the butchery needs to end.
  7. That makes sense. So if a battle limit is 25, it's effectively 23 once you deduct your general and supply wagon. Good to know, and I will adjust my Corps accordingly.
  8. Has anyone else noticed the last unit in the last division not arriving to major battles in which you are auto deployed? I just finished Fredericksburg as CSA and I had 25 or less brigades in each theater, and the last unit in the 4th division never deployed to the battle.
  9. I'd like to expand on this. I've done a few campaigns on both sides and I've begun to notice the chief arms supplier has become the enemy army. Which is fine, I don't mind getting a plethora of 1855s each battle, but after the last patch I finished Fredricksburg on my Union and Confederate sides. On the Union side, instead of picking up 1855s, I captured 1853 Enfields. No complaints here, that was a very popular weapon for the south. But on the South side, after completing the battle, I captured over 20K Tyler Texas Rifles....from the Union. This didn't seem normal to me. But then again, this could be a game balance issue. Which makes sense. You can't have the majority of the Union using superior 1861's by Fredericksburg against a CSA army barely able to field 1855s.
