  1. Poles have a tendency to loose their country and have weird politicians, this creates a polish exodus to the four corners of the earth, including the Caribbean. The russians and prussians have a tendency to chase after the poles.
  2. The game is at 85% off on steam if you want to buy it for your friends as a christmas present. http://store.steampowered.com/app/306660/Ultimate_General_Gettysburg/
  3. Note that new ships were not always easy to come by in every country in any year, at least not straight away, since they might be busy somewhere, or might be being built ( a certain captain might expect a better ship than the first floating thing that is free), and that captains who got cleared and received a new ship might afterwards have some issues due to the stain, or due to the new ship they receive ( which might have been supposed to go to some other captain, possibly related to yet another one ). A board of enquiry might dismiss the need for a court martial, depending on the time and place. I just found this book now which might be of interest to some people here ( haven't bought it ) Naval Courts Martial, 1793-1815 "Chapter Three is devoted to proceedings against types of naval offence, such a mutiny, insolence, desertion or loss of ship. " Besides paperwork, there tends to be letters of captains complaining about the unfairness of their situation to their family and friends as well.
  4. The first documented eyepatch is from the game's era: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rahmah_ibn_Jabir_Al_Jalhami
  5. I come from the future. Spoiler alert. You're gonna get pretty much exterminated by the 'muricans who will then name their ships in your honor. Most treaties you will sign will get broken, although those treaties will help you say that you are a free independent nation since those treaties where signed between nations, but in practice this point won't change a thing. Maybe if you focus on the americans and ally with everyone else, then maybe, just maybe, an alternate future in an alternate reality is possible. The poles do have a record of being on the side of the locals even at the price of switching sides and never seeing their own country again so that's definitely worth keeping in mind ( although History has made it a larger thing than it actually was - also they are making a 200% turn those days but you don't need to worry about this for a few centuries ) btw i can help with the cannons part. And some alcohol. I don't take furs but i'll take any scalps, they sell well back in europe.
  6. Between when you started this thread and now, you should have made enough to buy the hammerhead. Or HODL and buy more hammerheads for your friends later on. Btw the latest Q&A about it answers some of my doubts about the turrets angles and fragility: https://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/16317-Q-A-Aegis-Hammerhead
  7. More so, not every programmer is able to train someone ( and even then not always fast enough ). And at that time you may have literally nobody able to do the job since the only person who knows how to do it properly is busy. Especially if you have a very custom homemade system, like, say, a game, instead of some standard system. And if we're talking programming, the new guy will probably still be asking questions about why the heck is this weird line of ugly code in this weird place a couple years later, and the only person who will be able to answer that will be someone who has worked here from the start. But hey, who cares, just spend more money to make more money right? preferably throw it a someone who is both skilled an experienced enough ( easy to find, especially in IT and video games.) Fun story, I once had this great case where the new extra experienced hands and more money thrown at them managed to mess a project enough to actually kill it instead of speeding it up. I know it's always well intended of course, but more people and more money is not always the answer, and even when it is it may not the best one. There has been great games made by less with less, in part because the team was small. Sometimes 1 or two people small. You don't need to imagine anything, you can just compare to other games.
  8. From experience can say that "recruit more people, you need to spend money to make money" is... not.. the most important suggestion, nor the most original one, someone will hear...at all...marketing excepted.
  9. I thought i read somewhere something official about it being a planned feature that wasn't implemented, but i can't be bothered to search for it now and i might have dreamt it anyhow. If it's ever back ( i hope not ) i'd like an option to pray in one of the many religions. Then there'd be a rock-paper-scissor match between the gods or the prayers strenghts if both players are of the same religion. Or maybe a divine diceroll, to decide that my god is better than your god. Bonus points for the devs if i can have locally recruited vaudoo sailors that make zombies out of their fallen enemies and i have to murder chickens ( or not ) for the pray button to work. Being from the old continent it is unlikely i can be vaudou myself so i'll settle for secretly worshiping Poseidon. ( or i could RP someone like general alexandre dumas [--> good biography] being vaudou... hmmm )
  10. Not that i currently have a mac (nor want one) but i'd advise you to post your specs, there has been several macbooks air in the last 10 years or so and people may not want to google the specs even if you say which one it is. You'll be more likely to receive help. Anyhow you can also compare the minimum steam page requirements for mac: OS: 10.7 Processor: 2.0 Ghz Dual Core CPU or faster Memory: 4 GB RAM Graphics: GeForce or AMD gpu equivalent with Intel 4000 or higher Storage: 2 GB available space to your system to get a rough idea. You'll care more about clock and ram speed than about the GC for that game.
  11. What i mean is that if i attack you from the side where you are a slimmer target the guns on the other side are not gimballed enough to point on the other side even if you incline the ship, unless you incline it so that you are a bigger target. Not that it's a unique problem, but it just seems to me that maneuvering in that ship so as to present the max amount of guns while presenting the smallest target will be challenging. It seems to me that even shooting dead ahead would present a dead angle at a certain distance where the back guns would be blocked by the forward guns unless you fly at an upper/lower angle which might present disadvantages. Seems to me some dead angles will be easier to exploit against that ship. But i guess i'm overthinking it.
  12. Well it's far from being too late for bitcoin imho. There was an opportunity during a dip maybe like a month ago at 3.5k and up, after the fork cancellation, now it's up to 9.9k. You can just watch for corrections to get in, there could potentially maybe be one after christmas, but since it's hard to predict without some expected event, buying high now might still be worth it. How does it go, "the best time to buy bitcoin was before, the 2nd best time to buy is now" ? Bubble? Maybe. I think it's worth the gamble as long as you only put in what you are ready to loose. I can make a bit of extra cash on the side with books since i'm into books. I watch for opportunities to buy out of stock out of print books for 3 pounds, and after reading them resell for, in one case, 700 XD. Just do whatever you're good at and that you know and understand, be it guns & bullets, cryptocurrencies, or books. Pays for games and spaceships. As to the original question: I have some doubts about the firing angles of those turrets thought, do you have to expose more ship surface to point all of them in one direction? And they seem like vulnerable targets to me.
  13. Mac is pretty expensive for what you get in hardware, and few games work on it.
  14. Btw i recommend to read Hugo Pratt ( of Corto Maltese fame ) less known Fort Wheeling if you like indian stuff.
  15. Between the turkeys (NSFW) and the irony of the story, i've never understood thanksgiving. And what's that about a presidential pardon for a turkey? What did that turkey do to need a presidential pardon? And people get to vote which one lives and which one dies? That's just too weird for me.
  16. Some recommendations based on what you said above: thermal paste some good heatsinks, i have gone with a cryorig myself, just be wary of the possible need for a larger case and the clearance for the ram. After it's a question of price vs cooling vs noise levels https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cryorig-CR-R1A-cryorig-R1-Ultimate/dp/B00HUHC3WY/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1510499017&sr=1-1&keywords=cryorig+r1+ultimate&dpID=51uw-I6yKpL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HPX7J4K/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3E0DFF3SPZPA6&colid=3UWRLPTE6F81 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00634R3L6/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3SMF6RT6U31VO&colid=3UWRLPTE6F81 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00G1YXN6M/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I776QKUVL0BRD&colid=3UWRLPTE6F81 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00L7UZMAK/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=IH2WV7Z0YS4OD&colid=3UWRLPTE6F81 you may also want to look into regular fans both for intake and exhaust ( got a 200mm intake and 140 exhaust myself = positive air pressure ) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008RO64VA/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=IM5CC3JFTWTWI&colid=3UWRLPTE6F81 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001Q6RUVO/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I33WKG4OBRD40I&colid=3UWRLPTE6F81 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00E9NZV4Y/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=II1N2KSYK9EL&colid=3UWRLPTE6F81 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00650P2ZC/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I108T0G81RH4EI&colid=3UWRLPTE6F81 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AA875NC/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=IYLQ45WET1KZU&colid=3UWRLPTE6F81 you can find comparisons etc online, look for charts not just words. I can send you some charts in private if you need. That's a few years old thought when i was making my own build so there might be something better on the market now, but then the prices for this good stuff would be lower. in any case your temps are abnormal.
  17. It's obvious the second one should be at least half shorter and smaller XD XD XD <--- cheap joke of the day, don't mind me But yeah they are both missisipis indeed.
  18. I triple checked on the main public exploits sites and there is nothing whatsoever about steam that isn't old and patched, no new exploits, nada. I suspect you only had your email and that this is where your problem is. Did you check https://haveibeenpwned.com/
  19. I'm curious as to how your steamguard got bypassed. Do you have it on your phone? Do you have only the mail one, in which case your email has been compromised as well? I advise you to get 2fa on your email anyway.
  20. Here is a recent article for reference https://www.sciencealert.com/researchers-put-a-viking-navigation-trick-using-crystals-to-the-ultimate-test
