  1. I did read your post and I referred to your post in the first part of my post. I started using plural in the rest of the post, so it was not a "rampage against it". Maybe you saw yourself in the rest of my post, but for that i am hardly to blame, especially since i was, in the essence, agreeing with you in most of your general opinions, but disagreeing with you being impatient about them. I just posted under your post. And I agree with you that the BPs should be available to all types of players, but we are currently testing mechanics of the pve and pvp events. They can't implement everything at once. And yes, I also mentioned balance testing since it is obvious heavy rattle dominates shallow waters. But in the same way, mercury mostly dominated it before heavy rattle. Once they release heavy rattle BP, it will be normal (unless someone expects that all ships of the rank should be balanced within that rank).. The devs are only humans and they try to listen to the community and they try to give us what we ask for. They read our posts and try to think of how it would work, and then do it and deploy it to see if it works. They probably worked hard on each and every addition to this game and they deploy patches hoping people will like it and are most likely proud of what they did. That's why I dislike to see whining that started within the first hour of the patch since I bet it creates the feeling that whatever they do is not good. And I think it's not fair. And it's not insult spreading. Some of the people here just act like spoiled brats never satisfied with anything. Tbh, the devs could just kill the OW and do World of warships type of game with microtransactions and get more players, money and easier life. But for some reason they still didn't.
  2. Yeah, how about giving both the changes and the devs some time to set in and see how everything works out? You yourself said that there is no more time, so why would they spend time on working out pve event for all available ships right now? This is testing. For starters they've put in Cerberus to see how the event will work out and there is not a shadow of a doubt in my mind that, if the event is well received and works out, they will add other ships as well. If players can't play because they don't have a cerberus, then they can buy one. or craft one. It's not like it's not obtainable in a shop, prohibitively expensive or so hard to craft. For some of the posts here, the patch didn't even finish downloading before you started bitching about it. How about giving them some credit for the effort and their hard work and wait for a few days for fixes to be implemented and then say what we think? Some of the people here sound like touchy primadonnas that are never happy. I think that the latest changes fixed a lot of problems that came after the map reset and endless sailing and i believe it will get even better when they implement other rewards, store and (hopefully) some pvp currency. Also, it's a good thing they put in lobby arena style games, because now more people may feel inclined to play the game since they can log in when they have 30-60 mins playing time and jump into quick a fight. And it might (or will) encourage them to sail more and try for more ow pvp later on. Lobby style events don't drag players away from OW because those that play it and enjoy it the most wouldn't usually have enought time to play this game in OW. So it can only bring more players into this game. As for blueprints, i'm sure that the devs have a reason why they limit it. Maybe because if they were to release it, everybody and their grandmother would be sailing only in heavy rattle, or maybe they need to use them as special rewards or something. or maybe they want to test balance. If heavy rattles always win over mercs and similar, then they need balance fix. So, not sure why is there such a fixation over blueprints in early access game where everything will be wiped and lost in a few months.
  3. Yup, give us some pvp currency. So that even lowly n00bs such as me can get something by slowly grinding through pvp (and hopefully improving at the same time). it would be a great incentive to go out and fight. especially since i know I won't be in the top 10, so I see no reason to go and risk my ship, upgrades and officer lives in pvp. Put some gold upgrades, some paints, etc in Admiralty shop to be bought with that currency. Or just let us buy chests with the currency and put random rewards in it.
  4. This sounds good. I would deffinitely craft more dura higher rank ships that I would eb using for a longer time, but would craft lower dura ships for those starting ranks or for shallow water battles since I wouldn't be sailing them so often.
  5. meh, they should just speed us more in OW and allow us to queue for large and small battles anywhere.
  6. A player in a gunboat tried to attack my trader and it said that he couldn't initiate combat because BR difference was too high. What is the BR difference that prevents combats? When can I attack larger group (to pull them to battle) and when will ti fail? EDIT: typos. Dyslexia ftw.
  7. I think you look at it in the wrong way. This is a one time buy game (meaning it's not a free MMO and it's not based on monthly subscriptions). Every game has a certain number of playhours where it is profitable to buy it. I believe that if I buy a game and I get 200 quality playhours from it, then I got my money's worth from the game. I have placed an arbitrary ROI on games where I think that I should get some 100 hours of good playtime for every 20 Euros spent. If I get less, it's a waste of my money. If I get more it's a bonus and a great game. Now, in this game you only have to distinguish how many hours of QUALITY playtime you had and if it was worth it, due to the fact you spend most of your time just sailing around.
  8. That would be good. i know that some community created missions in Star trek Online were excellent. People really created great stories. Just need to watch they don't make missions designed for farming exp.
  9. hey guys, i would really appreciate a tutorial on port battles. I can't find any that would be up to date and to be honest I'm not quite sure how port battle mechanics work, together with screening, etc. Because of that I avoid going to port battles because I'm worried that I will screw something up either with screening or in the port battle itself. And I'm sure there are a lot of other noobs out there that need help with it too.
  10. Sorry then, I didn't realise you actually want to play it like that. I thought you were telling me how you got around the problem of huge time requirements in this game.
  11. Actually, I think this could solve the problem: 1. allow players to destroy cargo during battle 2. allow players to pay or transfer part of the cargo to the attacker during battle. That way defender can offer part of the cargo or gold payment to the attacker. Attacker will get goods and / or gold. Attacker will have an incentive to accept that since it will save him time he would spend chasing the ship, he won't waste ammunition (which is coming in the future) and he knows the other player could just destroy all the cargo. if the defender destroys the cargo, the attacker will still get to destroy or capture his ship. The defender would, by paying the ransom, save the time he would spend trying to run away, he will still have part of his cargo, he would still have his ship, crew and officer and he wouldn't waste the time he spent sailing. He would be discouraged from destroying his cargo by the fact that he will then lose the ship and all the cargo or all the cargo even if he manages to escape. So, both parties would be inclined to try and make a deal. And if it doesn't work, both sides, in a way, lose. But the attacker still gets to cap or sink a ship.
  12. Good change. As for teleporting, I think it should be kept since we can't transport goods in a fleet ship. So, if you cap a trader and don't have enough crew for both ships, you can't take it if there is no teleporting ships. But, I suggest that if you use teleport then you lose use of the officer and the minimal amount of crew required for that ship for some time depending on the target port distance, symbolising you giving the command of the prize (captured ship) to your officer and skeleton crew to sail to your port. That was a common method for prizes during the age of sail. best option would be to have captured trader actually visible sailing in OW with your officer and skeleton crew so it could be retaken or captured while on route to your port, but due to AI not being quite up to par with human player I doubt it would be able to survive and escape if it was captured anywhere near the area with high enemy player concentration.
  13. well, yeah, but that's not how it's supposed to be if you are playing a game.
  14. I think that every square on map equals 10 minutes sailing time. I was talking about trading. Also, free towns are capped at 5 deliveries of 1k goods each. I use it all the time, but I need those deliveries for trading too, and with the weight of trade goods and the time needed to deliver it's not much that i can move. That's why i suggested giving people more deliveries. Then i can sail around gathering stuff and then send it to free town i need and then sail it further. Then I won't be wasting so much time sailing, but people will still sail around with goods and will have a feeling they did something, even if they lose a ship. anyway, i think we agree on the basic important issue: there should be less time spent sailing but more people in the OW. Only reason i can think of why people are afraid of sailing with traders and losing goods is time spent sailing (since money is so very easy to arn). So, there should be shorter intervals for sailing. that's why i suggested more deliveries and higher volume for deliveries. People will still have to haul all that stuff around, but it's a difference if i have to sail again for 10 minutes or if i have to sail again for an hour. wow, you got so much angst and wrath in you. I bet you were foaming at the mouth while typing. There, there. Since you enjoy it that much, use print screen of your ship while sailing in OW and glue it over the screen and stare at it for a few hours every day. It will be just like a real thing. The rest of us that have jobs, families, friends and girlfriends/wives will find a way to spend the time saved by ship teleports and hopefully less sailing. lol Adios.
  15. You know you can't sail for an hour alert and concentrated (if i were to sail goods from capital to my hub it would take me an hour and a half). This is a game, not a job. As for pirates, if they allow us to transport goods in fleet ships so players can defend their traders and goods and fix battle result camping, it will be ok. last time i lost a ship after sailing it for 45 minutes because atatcker was hiding in battle result screen, popped out and tagged me with 2 renos and after 35 minutes of trying to escape i lost the ship. And an hour and a half of my life i spent sailing and another 45 minutes since i had to sail it all again once more. In those 2 hours of my life I could've played WoW, EVE, TW Warhammer, Civ, Wasteland, Pillars of eternity or any other game and would have something to show for it, some progress. EDIT: I enjoy trading and crafting A LOT. But I don't have the time needed for all the sailing around to do it. So it hurts even more if I waste it by losing a ship after sailing for such a long time. RL time is the only mark of value for the risk taken in this game.
  16. Like I said, it's not losing the ship that troubles me, it's the fact that I would lose the ship after I have sailed for a long time. Really long time. Hour and a half minimum of my RL time. And it's not worth it. I don't think my play style is killing the game. I can sail only one ship at a time, either a warship or a trader. Game should alleviate the time needed to be spent in traders so people can sail in warships and have fun fighting. If others can only find fun and keep the game alive by attacking others in trading ships then tough luck. Why would I have to be forced to play an easy target for others? I won't sail traders just so someone can attack and sink me in his warship. I dislike that developers are doing everything they can think of just to force me to sail in traders where others can attack or gank me because they think that's how i should play the game. As a trader, one has 2 options what might happen while sailing in this game: 1. nothing happens and you were actually bored to death for an hour or two, alt-tabbing and watching movies or reading while endlessly sailing or 2. you get attacked and sunk because you have no chance of winning or escaping, and you waste at least 30 minutes trying to escape. So, give people more and cheaper deliveries, increase cargo holds and people won't waste time sailing traders and hiding but will sail warships.
  17. Anyone who wants to play a trader will have a chance to sell their goods where they know most buyers will come. and buyers will come if they know they can easily and quickly move the goods they buy. Why would i buy anything in Habana if I have to sail three times for an hour and a half to transport it to my other ports, all the while risking to lose a ship? Lets face it, OW sailing is boring. Nothing to do. And it takes forever. And I think people don't want to risk sailing with goods they need for 2 hours just to have their ships sunk or captured. I only use free town deliveries and just buy a ship at free town, load up what I need and do a quick dash to nearest port, make an outpost and build the ship I need. I have no intention on being in OW any longer than absolutely necessary. But until then i will only sail shortest and most empty route possible with any ship other than basic cutter. And if I hear that there is an enemy sighted anywhere within 30 minutes sailing time from me, i log off and go play something else. If they fix it so i can transport cargo in fleet ships and protect my traders and fix people waiting hidden in battle results I might go back and sail again. And that's why they should let people be able to trade and craft the way they like and not try to force pvp on everybody. Each person has his own way of playing and enjoying the pvp side of the game and the game should cater to them all, not just force people to fight and risk their stuff when the game demands hours of your time to do anything. If it took 10 minutes to sail from one side of the map to the other and I had large enough ship to transport enough goods then i would risk it. 10 minutes is not that much. but if i have to waste 2 days to sail in the stuff and then transport it, then i'll do it the safest possible way and i don't like the game forcing me to risk wasting 2 days of my life just because they think that's the way their game should be played.
  18. Maybe allow some form of pvp currency from pvp kills in those zones during events which can then be traded for deadman's chests or something? That way everybody can get them if they work hard and/or long enough on it, so more people will be willing to try and participate even if they don't have top rank exceptional upgraded 1st rates.
  19. They should allow deliveries to be sent from capitals (not to them), lower the cost a little bit and increase the number of deliveries allowed. Then capitals will become trading hubs where people will sail in their goods, and others will come and buy there knowing they can deliver the goods from it without hours of sailing.
  20. my post wasn't directed at you, but at people that talk as if it's a mortal sin for the developers to give someone unique or special ship or for them to sell premium special ships for real life currency. As for calling that reviewer a liar, I'd have more sympathy if that creep hadn't been blocking anyone who has a different opinion than him. He is basically maliciously trying to harm this game with his review which is filled with some true things, mixed with half-truth and out of context info and dangerously sprinkled with blatant lies in hope that people will give some credit to that review and those lies. I bought this game and paid for it and i want to see it published and I want to play it and I want to see other players also playing it with me. So, if some unsatisfied inbred retard (pardon my French) decides he will vent his frustration and anger penned up in him ever since his mother spurned his sexual advances by ruining my investment (and yes, buying a video game is an investment where I invest certain amount of money expecting entertainment in return), then I fail epicly at sympathy and his free speach human rights nonsense department.
  21. Ok, so moderators and volunteers will get special unique ships. So what? If someone spends his time doing something why shouldn't he be rewarded? It's not like they will get an invincible dreadnought with "I WIN" button built into it instead of guns. Also, if they decide to put in game shop with different ships for real life currency, so what? Most of the online multiplayer games have that today and it didn't break the games. I, as someone who works almost 10-12 hours every day would like to be able to buy a good looking ship without having to waste hours of my limited game time on sailing and grinding resources. Why would I be limited to grey ships or low quality common ships just because I have real life and have to work long hours? As long as all the ships are balanced what do you care if I bought it or crafted it? Also, I wouldn't mind buying some good looking cool ship for real money if it keeps developers fed and more game content coming into the game. As long as things bought in the game shop are not giving unfair advantage to their owners, I couldn't care less for that.
  22. And now for something completely different. Thanks to all Spanish captains I again managed to trade a bit, level up and I am now a proud owner of a nice gold mercury, fast rattle and beautiful Surprise. First pvp battle was great, me and british captain started chatting while fighting and the experience was fun and friendly and no side would hold a grudge if he lost. It was really nice and fun. in the end we decided to leave since it would took a loooong time to sink each other (we both had nimble, easy to turn ships and horrible aim ;p) Alas, my second fight meant a lost a ship (noobishly allowed rattle to board me and kill most of my crew on mercury, which meant no more shooting and wet feet soon after). But the guy was silent, no chat and it was not so enjoyable. i know that no one cares so far, but the moral of the story is, in pvp try to chat with the other side. You can turn bad feelings and resentment into a fun or at least less antagonistic experience for all sides, no matter who loses. And it might mitigate this bad feeling between players of different nations. it reminds you that on the other side is also a player wanting to have fun just like you. Oh, EDIT: Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition!
  23. Erm, why is everyone so aggravated. Chests will drop great loot, ok. Chests will also drop BPs, ok. They said BPs will be obtainable through other ways as well later on. I personally don't plan on doing the event. I am not in a big clan and in the time that would take me to decipher where will it be, sail there, try to grab a chest, try to run away, high possibility of getting killed, spending waaaaaay to much time in battles trying to escape, etc I will rather earn gold and just buy those things later without a hassle.
  24. Point 1: I do, but that would only make me a possible target not only for enemies (which I would be without smuggler's flag), but for Spanish as well, as I understand. Point 2: 5k gold for 20-30 minute fight sailing in circles shooting at AI? 10 hours of that for 100k gold? No thanx. Point 3: No need for sarcasm. I would give all the time needed. But you said you would never surrender and would fight with basic ships from the last port. And I disagree with that. And that was the issue we were talking about. Point 4: I kept asking what is happening in chat. Everybody was talking in Spanish, would only get some info like enemy is coming there and there. There was no organized defense for us in nation chat. When Americans pulled flag on Cayo del Sal I lost a ship tagging flag carrier with another Spanish player. When they attacked Alacranes and that port with an S in the south of it I was trying to tag enemy flag with my Snow. When they attacked Pinar del Rio I built an outpost there just to buy mortar brig because that was the only thing I could sail to use there and defend it until 2 am. So, I'm not sitting idly on my ass. But no one ever said in chat "I'm forming a def fleet, join us" (maybe they did say it in Spanish, dunno that). I can't do that because Is tarted playing this game maybe 2 weeks ago and don't know enough and therefore wouldn't dare to lead something like that. We need some semblance of organisation. Seeing endless list of lost ports every night is demoralising. We need an effort at least. To lift the spirits. But I can't do only that because it takes a lot of time and sometimes I just want to log for 15-20 minutes and do a trade run and maybe craft some stuff and for that we need some area where we can do that without a HIGH risk of getting ganked and robbed. I, and I think some other players, don't find it fun to spend our evenings just doing suicidal battles in basic grey ships from habana and nothing else. My point was that if we see that we can't win or that we will end up as one port nation, there is no need for pointless bravado but it is time for diplomacy so we get some ports back. I wasn't saying that we should immediately lay on our backs and play dead. EDIT: I am here and willing to fight. This weekend I will leave Saturday whole day and evening just to fight. My ingame name is Bernal Diaz. Organize me. tell me what to do and how to do it. Make me, and others that are in small ships or low ranks and are online a part of it and we'll fight. We will screen, scout defend, but don't just organize it with big clans without anyone knowing anything. we want to fight tooo, not just be onlookers, because we also need those ports, more than high ranks do. But we are beginners, so we need help and instructions how and what to do.
