  1. THE WAR IS OVER! The crafting of seasoned woods, tools, LH contracts, Bucs and 1st rates on an industrial scale can stop. The crafting of ships that are actually fun to sail can begin again such as Endymion's, Connie’s, Bellona’s, Implac’s, etc. It was fun but I know the burnout was beyond bad on both sides. o7 Sweden
  2. Great to see the founder of the legendary SLRN back at it. Welcome back good sir. o7
  3. I truly wonder if the people throwing all the mud on the tribunal post clearly understand how bad this can get if this is allowed. You could essentially lock down countless front lines all over the map by just having another nation generate a port battle and no show it. Regardless of how you feel about Russia, Sweden, Truxillo, San Juan, and all the other BS; this could get very bad very quickly and shut down RVR among numerous front lines.
  4. I think you are missing the picture Greg. We all hate the AI Port Battles, but at the moment have to live with it. This was the 5th AI Port Battle at Nassau I believe. The time before this the AI fleet spawned in the wrong location and saw 7-10 ships have to fight 2/3rd of the AI and the port was only won because the other 1/3rd of it grounded themselves, and was confirmed to be bugged. We were told the bug was fixed, but we haven't seen any patch notes and by all accounts they were far faster than the previous 4 times we have defended Nassau. This wasn't our first rodeo, and considering Russia and Sweden lost their AI Port Battles and the Brits almost lost theirs with the AI getting over 800 points on the same day, one has to ask that when the Nassau bug got hotfixed that something else wasn't done.
  5. Any idea if we can get some insight into the proposed changes? With Seasoned woods, ships are now super expensive with a Santi costing 19k doubloons, 11 Mil in tools, and 145k Labour Hours in converting woods. Spending hundreds of hours moving resources, trading, and in logistics to craft a fleet of seasoned ships, only for them to be made obsolete with the advent of a monumental game change would mean all that work for nothing.
  6. Didn't know this thread existed. Good fight against the US from a couple months ago. One of my the more fun fights I've been in since coming back after release. This one eventually turned into a 1v1 Endy duel/ who could snipe masts quicker duel since VirtuallyIdiotic died very quickly to the fort and Endy before I could get close. Had a decent one last night. Newer guy that I gave some tips too and eventually capped but still, since 4th rates can now carry heavier and more carros they are a lot tougher to deal with in 5th rates.
  7. For some ports yes it is extremely difficult but not impossible. The last Port Battle at Morgan's Bluff will attest to that as that is a port with 2 forts, 2 towers and every single circle is covered by fort fire and Russia should have won. I personally like the reducing of the guns on forts from 42 pounders to 12 pounders. The towers on shallow water ports are already at 12 pounders so it makes sense dropping forts to that number. Also the lowering of the BR of the Mortar Brigs from 80 to say 45 where it is on par with Brigs would also give you more flexibility given that most shallow water ports are 900 BR.
  8. You shouldn't list alts or take alts into account when making an argument for game balancing. If you do it that way then it can have an adverse affect on the people who don't have alts. He is using the numbers he would get if he used all his alts to produce nothing but stuff required to craft tools for the intent to sale.
  9. It is still a trade good and can't be nerfed entirely. I can buy tools in Tamiagua for 1876 a tool and in 15-20 minutes I can sale them for 5628 a tool in VC, almost a profit of 4000 versus a profit of 2600 per tool if I craft it. At the same time I can buy Indigo in Campeche for 1540 apiece and sale in VC for 5472 apiece and that's a 20-25 minute sail. Should that be lowered also when you are looking at a larger profit margin than crafting tools to sale? I understand where you are coming from but if you lower the sale price on tools again, then you also have to lower the buy price to make it somewhat worthwhile as a trade good. Keep that in mind when it comes to the overall trading economy.
  10. I know there is a 500 limit cap on the ports. I know the last time I traded a lot was years ago when the port limit was 25k, once a port was flooded over the limit it took a while for you to be able to sale again. For example Pedro Cay had so much Compass Wood it would take over a year before all of it was consumed so the port would start buying again. Question is, what is the consumption rate for the ports? Because if there is a consumption rate, then it only takes once for you to sale way over the limit and then that port will be locked for a while.
  11. Myself, Anolytic, and multiple other ships were easily 400-500 meters away from the fireship and in brace. I lost around 650 crew, Anolytic lost 500-600 crew. 400-500 meters in this game isn't close.
  12. No, we applaud the Brits for a perfectly timed fireship. The issue I have and a lot of people have is damage to crew over large distances even when braced. Rook29 has a video of 3 of their ships dying to an exploding Buc and he was easily 300-400 meters away. In the same video, The Eagle in a Snow took 300 crew off a Bellona by exploding next to him. A ship that size should not do that much damage to a line ship. The Eagle also has a video of him exploding in a Vic and killing every ship around him including him friendly who was a decent distance away who was also in a Vic. In that battle, I was in brace and around 400-500 meters away from Bobzilla and lost around 650 crew. How many explosions were in that battle, 4 I can recall and there were potential for more? There were 2 explosions that took out something like 8 ships in the initial 15 minutes of the brawl. The chances of a ship catching fire is high, and it is a common occurrence for someone to try and blow up and now you just do a lot more damage. Interesting, considering that there were only a few instances of ships blowing up in the French Revolutionary Wars and Napoleonic Wars; the L'Orient and Achilles are about the only ones that come to mind. This has shown the server that fireships are a valid tactic again. And yes it involves luck but with ports like Salamanca, Georgetown, Belize, San Juan, Maracaibo, Carta, St Johns, Santo Tome; I can guarantee you the attacking fleet will have a fire ship or highly consider using one especially if the wind is going strait into the harbor. And hey, as long as it explodes within 300 meters of the enemy it has done it job because now there's quite a few 1st rates on half crew, whether they are bracing or not. I'm fine with the sail damage etc, even crew damage; but it's the amount of crew loss when at range and even in brace. And that is a game changer for every nation. P.S.: I despise any lineship that goes over 12-13 knots other than the Connie.
  13. I assumed it was placeholder data but at the same time I assumed that fine woods wouldn't get added back to the game and got a little carried away when they were added again today. Sorry if I upset others, and please removed my posts on the matter so there is no misinformation.
  14. I did. It has the same gun layout as the Christian and Buc. This is it compared to Bellona and Redoutable. HP wise, it is lower than a Bellona, but armor values are only slightly lower. I understand this is test data, but if this is true, then it will be kinda broken.
  15. In regards to Implacable How is that balanced? And how is that even a 3rd rate? And this will be a DLC? So a ship that can outgun every 3rd rate and almost all the 2nd rates. Then add fine wood 2.0 and any balance has gone out the window
  16. Think it will be a while before we see the new 1st rates in large numbers. 3600 tools takes a while to buy and move and that's just for one 1st rate. Not to mention the cost, 7 Mil in reals for tools and an additional 10k doubloons in seasoned woods. (Speaking from the RVR point of view) Smaller ships yes, but again only the richest players/many alts will be able to push out seasoned wood ships in decent numbers But this is almost a slightly better copy of the fine woods, and we all know how well that went
  17. Do you even play? Haven't seen the great Hachi in a while. All my entertainment in global is starting to dry up.
  18. Best of luck to y'all. Will miss the content that was KoC. o7
  19. When this game first hit early access, Great Britain for a while was one of the more dominant RvR powers or do we forget how SLRN drove all the way to Puerto Rico and then Aves. And there was nothing incompetent about the leadership in Britain when it had people like GKar, HMCS Warrior, Augustus and others who managed to get the clans to coordinate when it was no longer possible for a single clan to form a fleet. The leaders got burnt out, and eventually so did the core RvR group. You list the Swedes, but somehow Britain is excluded when the entire server hated them for controlling half the map and weren't a RvR powerhouse? And this during the days of flags in which they were fighting more port battles against multiple nations daily and successfully. You're right the RvR powerhouses has ebbed and flowed during early access but at one time the Danes weren't the dominant RvR fleet, during the early days Britain came closer to Christiansted than anyone other than the Swedes and only because their capitals are next to each other. The southern Cuba campaign before the 3 Admirals treaty, the British had spent weeks fighting together and had a strong and good RvR group from weeks of fighting as a single unit. This at a time when the Danes, Swedes, and Pirates were doing little to nothing in the world of RvR. Game has been around for a long time and has changed a lot, hard to deal in absolutes such as these nations have been the only powerhouses in RvR.
  20. Well I did have something like 500 Mil at the time, and I think I ended up paying 50 Mil to KOC for the same ship. But hey it was a well worth it, she was a tank. And like you said, that was a long time ago, back when I played this game
  21. Hey anything can happen and besides I don't hold grudges.... I really don't know yet if I want to come back to the game or not tbh. Most of the veteran Brits I played with have scattered to different nations/servers or quit playing all together. And I did that whole leader of nation/diplo/cat herder for 6 months (maybe more, kinda of lost a bit of my sanity during that time) so the only way I would come back would be to go to a nation that already has a good setup and I know DN is in the capable hands of North, Anolytic. and company. And OCEAN is about the only group of players left that I enjoy playing with/against. However, if I do decide to come back and play DN; it will take a long time to get rid of that dirty feeling of having that damn flag on the back of my ship.
  22. Tommy is that offer to join OCEAN still on the table. I may have to come out of retirement and start playing the game again to participate in this war. 😄
