  1. OK first post - obviously. It might have already been mentioned in other posts in other threads so feel free to pounce on my neck if it has. I play PvE. Multiple reasons. I can't dedicate the time to the game only to end up ganked or losing ship to port capture because real life still takes precedence. That being said, in PvE (and I assume any AI battle on the PvP server) AI doesn't surrender until the ship either sinks or ALL crew are dead. While I know that this game is a game and not a simulation, having to completely destroy an AI is quite frustrating in large PvE battles. In real life ( I know! I know!) a ship could be taken out of action through many different events that affect crew morale - devastating broadsides resulting in crew shock and loss of efficiency, rudder/rigging damage, and having to attempt to repair a sinking ship. The current situation seems to favor the AI. In that even if I cause rudder damage it still sails as if nothing is wrong (at least from my quarterdeck). Also when an AI ship is sinking and up to the first, second or even third gun deck it's still doggedly fighting, firing, and maneuvering. As the devs move to "more intelligent" AI and train AI to target masts, board, and stern camp I'd like to see some balancing to the surrender mechanic. Ok - flame away.
