  1. Going back to the OP for a second, I disagree with the quote from the other forum. It may be unrealistic, but so are aiming guides and auto-targeters. It is the most realistic option imo and as such I would not be upset to see it's continued use in Naval Action.
  2. Thing about dishonest folk, you can always trust them to be dishonest... It's the honest ones you have to watch out for. I can think of a few good names for a pirate clan, but alas I don't have the energy to make them into anything worth while. If someone else is interested in making a clan, feel free to use these if you haven't thought up something better, and I may be tempted to join... not that I'm planning on being a pirate of course. Wicked Intentions Under The Influence Wildly Intoxicated Scarlet Scoundrels Hoist The Colors Brown Trousers Last one may be a better name for our enemies, eh?
  3. Mercury will be added to Naval Action soon, and I believe the Ottoman Empire will also be added as a playable nation.
  4. Here's to a productive year past, and another on the horizon.
  5. Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  6. +1 for the rattlesnake! It looks fantastic!
  7. I've locked this topic on the grounds Bungee pointed out above. This is an old thread, and an old poll. There are more recent threads to discuss ship possibilities for any future ship expansions.
  8. I believe the Ontario is going to be added into the game within the next week or two.
  9. Young whipper-snappers like me should be out playing hoop ball or scotch hoppers, or what ever it is youth these days do... instead I'm here. Coming in at twenty!
  10. I think Patrick O'Brian covered this in one of his books, didn't he?
  11. I'm disappointed, which means now I get to go the the theater with very low expectations. If it wows me, great! If not, ha, I was right!
  12. I watched the trailer, scarcely daring to hope it would be worth my time. At first I thought 'hmm, a small ship with twenty-one men aboard bound for the unknown world. A talented and dedicated soul could do a lot with this..." What little hope there was slowly turned into doubt, and at 1:35 that doubt turned into total disappointment. What I wouldn't give for something original these days...
  13. She is actually a snow, but I don't see the trysail mast which is a little concerning. Without that mast she would indeed be a brig. EDIT: It might be there, I'm having trouble identifying it though.
  14. I have to endure my friends blathering on about yet another season of a questionable program. :\ I guess it appeals to some but not others.
  15. Best I can find is this on the subject: These are drawings from 'Legend of The Lake' by Arthur Britton Smith. I'm not sure where his research took him to arrive at these plans, but hey ho. Google can only tell you so much. Hope this helps o7
  16. If by this you mean NPC fishing vessels leaving home ports and fishing, then yes I too would like to see this. Different types of fishing vessels with different types of cargo depending on what part of the globe you are in would be neat. Crab fishing, tuna, haddock, Salmon, whale, shark, the list goes on. Of course having these things in game is due to historical significance, and not because the game is trying to encourage fishing endangered and/or protected species in the modern day.
  17. I'm going to be branching off on my own for the first little while. An independent captain and his little snow. 'Tis a tough life, but an honest and free one.
  18. Any threat will be treated to a full broadside! Huzzah!
  19. The trouble with the British fleet was most of it was occupied with Napoleon and his European allies. Though America was sided with Napoleon for the most part, England had bigger fish to fry than a colony in the middle of an identity crisis. America knew that it would never be able to front the same sort of manpower or fleet composition that the British could muster, so instead it adopted a gorilla warfare type navy. It's vessels were designed to be able to overwhelm anything roughly their own size, and outrun anything that was larger, relying on the wars in Europe to keep the majority of Britain's might away from American shores. Of course with what would later become Canada still under British control, most of the fighting took place on land and on the Great Lakes. That said, I recall an attack on Britain's North American station in the city of Halifax which Britain managed to defend. EDIT: That ship DOES look like a bath tub...
  20. Best alternate description of 'too much info' I have seen yet. Well done sir.
  21. I'm super stoked to see both the Ontario AND the Mercury in game! All around fantastic looking models.
  22. Oh yes it's true! I'm back from the dead, and plan to be active on these forums again. Sorry for being so quiet recently, work has had me swamped.
  23. Actually, I like the playing real money to change the name of your ship. You pick a name when the ship is built at a dockyard, and you get a free name change token when you buy a ship off of the market. Sure, you can call your ship $W4GCH00PRXX, but it'll cost you $.50 to name it something else when you tire of your terrible choice.. wont be doing that again, will you.
