  1. The best sort of communication between your enemy and you is fired at a high velocity from the ends of those roundish metalic instruments lining either side of your vessel. On a serious note, thank you for your feedback.
  2. Back from the dead like 'ol Jaques himself! Evening all! Daddy's home! But not really... Unfortunately I'm still very busy outside of Naval Action and without a working computer or stable internet. Like me, CoH is not dead either! Just in hiding... Stealthy like. Unless Hertzog has been playing Open World again, then its the opposite. As one of the joint founders of the AoC I have just this to say. For anyone who is looking for a home away from politics, drama, or maybe you just like our name, you are welcome here. You do not need permission to join, there is no lengthy ceremony or criminal check, and you do not need to sacrifice your first born child. All I would suggest is join up with our forums, and make yourself known. The AoC is only what it's memberbase makes it. That's how you know you're truly free here. Here's rum in yer eye, Thomas Blackwell
  3. This isn't a bump simply to move our recruitment propaganda to the top of the thread... no, it's more like a note to myself. Shopping: ~Eggs ~Milk ~Butter ~Grapeshot ~Baking Powder ~Rum** PS. Don't forget to empty out the bilge tomorrow. Lieutenant Grasshopper filled it with bubble bath again and now the whole ship smells like fragrance of summer. ~ Remember to post notices in all the 'respected' establishments concerning the dangers of not eating enough vegetables, forgetting to wash hands after using the lavatory, and taxing Americans. ~ Pirates Anonymous meeting 7:00PM sharp at the Black Mongoose. Bring Nero's parrot as sponsor.
  4. Fair winds to you sir, for if you should come within a thousand sea miles of Isle de Hispaniola, your cargo shall become my cargo. I hope to be seeing you boys in a great many numbers on the high seas!
  5. Damn long guns, thinking they can just board our ships and steal the jobs of honest hard working cannonades.
  6. "Now her namesake daughter remains to show what she has been. What every schoolboy remembers and will not come again. To think she is the last of the Grand Banks schooners who fed so many men." It is a shame. Even a properly working replica is still just a replica.
  7. As a Canadian, it would be improper, almost indecent of me NOT to mention her.
  8. The Pickle! And the 100 year out of date pride of the Maritimes, the Bluenose (II),
  9. Cheers Grimm, but the thing about pirates is we're notorious for an extreme lack of organization skills. However if you want to organize a drinking tournament, I'll wager we'll make an effort to show up for that!
  10. Hiyup mate, I'll pass along your name ASAP. We'll have you aboard in no time. While you wait, visit the Black Mongoose and feel free to get stuck in!
  11. Now this looks like my kind of fleet. Maybe I'll show up one day in my Privateer eh?
  12. I was always taught in history class that the French preferred to fire at sails and rigging, while the British used heavier guns and fired up through the decks. I assume this was to cut down the crew with splinters and other shrapnel before boarding.
  13. I have no issue with having US line ships in game. However, if they are using technology that gives them a massive advantage in game over the other nations, I think the technology in question should be made less effective or removed all together and replaced. If a US line ship can be agreed upon by both supporters and developers, the supporters will eventually have to choose between realism and a balanced game. That said... if I am in a Lynx and my opponent is in a privateer, I expect to lose. Same ship type, but one outweighs the other. Adding a single, very expensive US line ship to the game that can 1 on 1 defeat any other line ship (on paper) may just add a little bit of Tabasco to the end game salad... On the other hand... The US navy would eventually get flooded with these powerful line ships making it difficult for other nations to win a large engagement. Admiral's and Captain's skill only goes so far. Sometimes the odds of victory are just too minuscule.
  14. Please kindly consider having a tavern in Port de Prince named the Black Mongoose. It's kind of a big deal for some of us...
  15. Evening Gents. Firstly, I'd like to congratulate Game-Labs for developing a game like Naval Action. I find it remarkable how much they have been able to add to the game in such a short period of time. I would also like to acknowledge as the community has grown, Game Labs has remained as open about development as they were on day one. (I checked). And this brings me onto part two of the post. I'd like to ask Game Labs if they would consider taking yet another leap for the community, by letting us get to know each of them? Nothing quite CCP level of mostly informative and often comedic videos of their HQ in Iceland, but a brief bio of each developer working at/for/with Game Labs instead. At the moment, the only name I can think to thank for bringing me Naval Action is 'Admin' and I don't think that's fair considering the amount of work each developer must be doing. Tom
  16. Napoleon was midst a long line of French sovereign leaders... mostly named Louis.
  17. There have already been discussions on the repair system. It's a polarized argument caught between people who wish to keep the repair kit and improve on it, and those who want to remove it all together to make way for an entirely new repair system, more realistic/effective for open world. I'm partial to option two myself.
  18. I have wanted this feature for a long time. You should be able to (during testing) bring both ships to a full stop and use a repair kit on the ally. It takes longer than normal, and both ships must remain stationary until it has finished.
  19. Depends on what ship I decide to make my own. Right now it's a toss-up between the Lynx and the Privateer. Lynx: Fierce Privateer: Savage If I end up liking the Rattlesnake I may use it instead. Rattlesnake: Relentless
