  1. Timers for 10 minutes should also work. Timer to escape should be enhanced by 2 minutes. Escape at 04:00 Offtopic: Also there must come a change: When you attack a fleet of frigates with a mercury, only the tagged ship should be thrown into this fight. BR is more then enough. All the others should be asked, if they want to take place in this fight. Last we hunted a Bellona and a snow pulled us into fight to help his lost friend.
  2. This thread wasnt started to let the game become 100% historical correct. It was started to make things better. To make it more simple: At the moment we have got 8 identical Nations. Thats a fact. Then I cant call this side "pirates". They should be called Freelancer and I wouldnt talk about it. When you call them Pirates and create them identical to all the other factions, there is something missing in this game. And dont make this depending to any class of ships. Most 1rd / 2rd / 3rd are totaly useless(*) and easy to capture / sink so leave them out of this thread. Also the way of a Pirate should be much more difficult then the way of a normal Sailor. In fact it works the other way around. It is much easier to earn cash, easier to get ships above 4rd and easier to hide for PvE Players and Traders(**). I create this thread for collecting Ideas in the hope, that this could help the dev's to change something, or even not - up to them. I didnt create the thread to get unplaced reposts from thp or historical wiki posts about how much guns are at which type of ship. If you guys dont have Ideas for this thread, pls dont start those discussions here. Do it with PM's. This is an illness of most Forums, that after two posts the topic is thrown away. Before the next offense: (*) 1rd-3rd are usefull in PB. For PvP Pirate Fleets they are a cash cow. Not more, not less. And as long as we are talking about the Idea of "being a Pirate", they dont have any worth for a roaming fleet, except beeing a bait. (**) In the North of MT, you can do what ever you want. Trade, PvE, go afk for the whole day... whatever. Clanmates who are fresh always level there. Every 4-10 hours some US or GB are around but not able to catch small ships in the shallow region.
  3. No! Dont show him any source here. Open a thread for "ship details". If you have got any Ideas for Pirate changes, add them. Otherwise pls bring the other stuff to other threads. If other people want to read something about ideas, they dont want to see a 23 Pages thread because of those things. Would be nice to get a Mod function for those threads aswell.
  4. Is Naval Action really a commercial game for the flushy flashy youtube community? Honestly I uploaded some fights to youtube and got some views. But those fights are min. 45 mins long and the 12 -25 year old youtube Community most need boobs and fast acarde Style gaming. Also the UI isnt really "nice" at its state atm. For me I didnt saw any Video about Naval Action. All I saw was the Steam reviews by tons of players and i bought it. Now i got catched from the games depth. It would be awesome, if all Players would create something like a "Best scene" Contest where they can send their self cutted things to the devs and it will be voted for it. I was thinking about building a Website with similar functions. Anyone interested to support something like that? With that way you would get more views on youtube but only show some cinematic scenes from players - so that those scenes are more authentic and gameplay based.
  5. @thp u are totaly intolerant, are fitted with wrong historical informations and dont see, that pirates in Naval Action are Nation number 8. If you are against the ideas, just say that once and its done. Stop complaining about intolerance and stuff like that. People like you are glad to be against anything and I dont see, that you thought about the ideas in real. You throw some of your wikipedia informations and try to explain, that Pirates were as big as other Nations, doin the same as Nations in those times. This is - by far - WRONG! Not more, not less. By sure some of them captured ports. Others were privateers before. Some criminals were called Pirates aswell . But all those mentioned things never count for "all pirates", because there was never a Nation called pirates or a Pirate Nation, which act like Spain, France or Briatin. The Republic of Pirates, Brethren of the Coast and other mentioned Pirates stand for their own ideology and didnt waste time by thinking about other Pirates. If you have some Ideas, i would like to hear them. Otherwise thx that u took place and search for a new thread u are against. Otherwise this thread turns into something far away from the topic. I know you are Pirate and its ok, that you like the pirates. Me and some others want to place some ideas for interesting changes, which you dont like and want to see in the game. The good part is, that this is not our both decision. BallsOfSteel: I guess they will fix it somehow. There are also other "bad abuse" things with this mechanic. U can stealth a big fleet with that mechanic also. I would love to see some Ideas for reworking pirates from other people.
  6. Those ports are more similar to the mentioned hideouts. At the moment Pirates owning more Ports then some Nations. I said they should not be able to capture Ports. Didnt say that there are no Ports which they can use as hideouts. If I would take your example, then pirates must form a clan and capture a port for that clan only. Then they can keep it as long as they can defend it. Because those mentioned examples everytime started with a bunch of privateers or even pirates. "Pirates" are lawless. They formed up groups and wrote down their own laws. Those laws never count for every pirate. And sailing small ships isnt really true. A Pirate Frigate is a big "enough" ship to capture mosty everything interested out there. Also you can easily kite and kill Constitutions and others. The way u describe seems a bit intolerant aswell btw.. There was a Republic of Pirates, Brethren of the Coast and much more similar "Clans". But those clans stands for themselve and not all pirates in the whole world. In Naval Action, all Pirates are together. One big bunch of people sailing under the "Nation of Pirate" Flag and capturing / defend ports in the same size as spain, Great Britain or France. Those scenarios never happend in real life. So my question again: Why is the pirate way so similar to nation way. BTW: To setup a Shipyard in these days and craft mentionable ships took ages. Build up trading routes and crafting facilities aswell. When we go back to the Republic of Pirates, which lasts 11 years, they could never manage to build up a high trading and crafting influence. In Naval Action the Pirates are real trading and crafting gods. A thing which you can perform in every nation. There is no need to make it that similar. I want to give some nice Ideas and not to break gameplay. Who ever want to play big ship boredom and trading simulation, could do this in 7 other existing Nations. So it should be fair, if there is another way of gameplay in Naval action aswell, isnt it? That is not really intolerant. To say: "But some pirates like it" and because of this you create Nation number 8 with a totaly similar way of play, then this is intolerant. Think about some creative Ideas for a Pirate way of life. The thread is called "Ideas for authentic Pirates", not "Force Pirates to play diffrent". Think about a modified captured Trinc with more crew and the posibility of capturing while at 6kn or so. Just as an idea. Hull should be weak because of higher speed and turn rate. You can capture ships pretty easy but also can sink easy when u mess with the wrong people. It would bring a bit more dynamic fights in the game and also those Pirates could play the real Pirate way a bit better and the crafter / trader are in the correct Nation to do so.
  7. Hey Berend, then I get you wrong. Sorry about that And it was no direct offense. Next I need to write it with another mood. Kindest regards Tiggily
  8. First of all - sorry for my bad english sometimes. Now to your points: Pirates can buy normal ships at every harbour if they can use any mechanic of stealthing themselve. False Flag was an example. The Republic of Pirates was a small Part in Nassau. For 11 years and not more. Never founded as a Nation. It was some kind of safe harbour for privateers. But it was not state or something similar. Most Pirates from those centuries formed up to syndicates. The so called "Republic of Pirates" just survived 11 years out of more then hundred years with pirate activities. People who want to play in the - so called - "big content" of this game, can do so in 7 Nations. Pirates should be totaly diffrent to them. And to keep up with your example: The Republic of Pirates didnt fight for Ports somewhere deep in enemy Terretories. They didnt sail with first rates aswell Small fleets against Navy frigates could be possible. Thats all. The Gamestyle of a Pirate should more be like an outlaw. And I am pretty sure, that there are tons of Players like me, who would love to see an outlaw Pirate life in this game. The Base of the game is totaly great to do so. With stolen ships from other players and bought ships from raided gold its a very diffrent gameplay. Ask yourself: Where is the diffrence between any of the 7 other Nations and the Pirates atm? I counted 2. 1) No Pirate NPC 2) Pirates can attack each other to avoid battles or even raid their mates. ah and even 3) I can buy 1rd anytime in MT.... no command Pls dont get my Ideas about pirate lifestyle wrong. Its not written with a bad mood against the devs because i really love this game and the settings. I just think that those way of playing would enhance the fun and experience for everyone who is playing. Think about a sailing turn, where you dont tab out to look youtube videos, because everyone who is crossing you could be an enemy. It would bring back the heartbeat while hauling tons of trading materials. People who love to be outlaw, can be outlaw just by choosing Pirate.
  9. At the moment I am "Pirate Tiggily". WIth my new Flag i should be "France - Tiggily". Hide Player name to a half / third is a very good point. The Countdown before i can attack is also a very nice Idea to keep it balanced.
  10. Nations are doing, what Nations did in their days. They try to enhance the political influence and military power of their Nation. But thats the Point: Pirates never did that. NEVER EVER. And there must be a very big gameplay difference between a Nation Player and a Pirate. When I start playing, the first thing I read in Pirate chat was: "Someone wanna make Fleet Missions?" Second Sentence was: "WTS Labor hour" and the third thing was:"Lets take port xy from the Great Brits". If I would have joined the France, I guess those impressions would be very similar. But people dont play pirate and get a hard life - as mentioned while choosing Nation. They only join another Nation which is sometimes stronger then other Nations. Pirate missions should not be PvE. There are tons of NPC cruising around. Why is there no mission like "Capture France Trader Snow". Ask yourself, why a Sailor in the open world should know, that there is a pirate incoming, just by clicking? There is no Pirate flag at my ship in open world. So let me sail as Great Britain, spain or something else to get in fighting range to a foreign trader ship. Why does Pirates need ports? And even that many? Why should they produce compass wood to sell it for 1.500 in Grand Turk to NPC? They should not have any port as those mentioned hideouts. And the People who love and like the Port battles, are no Pirates in no means. It would be easy to swap them back to any Nation of their wish. Pirates need no first rates... They didnt capture those ships at all. They go for Trading ships or similar to gain profit, slaves and a new usefull ship. First rates are used for defense reasons. And they are not made of steel. If they are solo traveling, they are very easy to sink. In my mind, the Pirates need to have a hard life out there but with the chance of a big profit. Also they dont have to be friendly to each other Why should they?
  11. @Lannes: There are a lot features missing to make it absolutly realistic. But most of the ingame content - esp. the ships - are authentic. And yeah! Many people are lazy in our days. I just read some of your posts aswell You call it stress free. There are thousands of stress free games out there. Most of them are not as good as Naval Action. People with less time should also be able to play that game. Thats correct. But I really hate the Idea, that the game content should be easier to achieve, so that those people could sail with their 1rd ships without investing time. When you have less time, things will take much longer. Thats fair, thats ok and the only way to treat with this. ---back to topic---
  12. So honestly: Cool that you have got a job. I have got one, too. But why should the game be easy? Be smart enough to earn cash fast, then you dont need to panic. And if you cant, then play on a lower leveled ship or fire the crew. There are 2 ways, a game can deal. 1: Be for stupid kids with green arrows on the ground, so that everyone know where to go, whom to speak and stuff like that. End-Gear is reached in 2 Days and voila... NEXT. 2: Make it authentic and hard (not realistic), so that people need to do stuff, to get stuff. When you want to play a game after work, without invest time into it, then Naval Action isnt the right game for you, Mr.. And I really hope, that the developer ignore those points, when they rebalance things. Lazyness must die.
  13. This "reg. per day" is a bad idea... Same as the labor hours are (sry devs no offense). Those mechanics dont help noone. The trading and money making should be more important then the rest. Crew with skill = very expensive. Then you dont need to talk with players about "couldnt recruit more men because none offered". A ship should be worth much more then now. Even the crew must be worth alot. Then those dumb fights and trollfights will end up. 2 Days ago we killed 3 Trincs who attacked a players snow and died because of we jumped in In a World where death will cause any kind of stronger penalty, they would never ever engage those battles. And when they loose their crew because of that stupid engage, I love the mechanic even more then now. @Azzak 1rd. should be horrible expensive. Also every ship should be much more expensive then now. More then 100 Guns for the price of 4-5 Million which you can earn easily per Week / some of us per day. When I would be the game designer, a normal frigatte - as strong as it is - would cost 4 million. A Santi would be 30 million or more. Those ships should be for the interest of the large companies / royal navy / Alliances
