  1. This is the cutest ship I've seen on this forum, a miniature Renomee. Is she from the same shipbuilder?
  2. Whydah Gally (commonly known simply as Whydah or Whidah,), pronounced "wi-duh", was a fully rigged galley ship that was originally built as a passenger, cargo, and slave ship, owned by Lawrence (Laurins) Prince. On the return leg of its maiden voyage of the triangular trade, it began a new role in the Golden Age of Piracy, when it was captured by the pirate Captain Samuel "Black Sam" Bellamy, and was refitted as his flagship. She was armed with 28 guns, and could sail at a top speed of 13 Knots! Bellamy sailed the Whydah up the coast of Colonial America, capturing ships as he went. On April 26, 1717, the Whydah was caught in a violent storm and wrecked. Only two of Bellamy's crew survived, along with seven others who were on a sloop captured by Bellamy earlier that day. Six of the nine survivors were hanged, two who had been forced into piracy were freed, and one Indian crewman was sold into slavery. Whydah and her treasure eluded discovery for over 260 years until 1984, when the wreck was found – buried between 10 and 50 feet of sand, under water depths of 16 to 30 feet deep, spread four miles parallel to the Cape's coast. With the discovery of the ship's bell in 1985 and a small brass placard in 2013, both inscribed with the ship's name and maiden voyage date, Whydah is the only fully authenticated Golden Age pirate shipwreck ever. Dimensions Tons burthen: 300 tons Length: 110 ft (34 m) Propulsion: Sail & oar Sail plan: fully rigged, 3 masts Speed: 13 knots (24 km/h; 15 mph) Complement: 150 men at launch; went down with 145 men & 1 boy (incl. 6 prisoners) Armament: AT LAUNCH: 18 Active Guns PIRATE UPGRADE: 28 Active Guns Here is a drawing of the Whydah. A scale model of Whydah. Another scale model of Whydah, with a different paint scheme. I think that Naval Action should have at least one Pirate Ship in the game. She is fast, at 13 Knots, has good cargo carrying capabilities, and is sufficiently armed, with 28 guns. In other words, she is the perfect Pirate Ship, or a perfect trade ship. This is THE best documented Pirate Ship, and therefore a good contender for a Pirate Ship in game. I know the Le Gros Ventre, and Indiaman are similar to this ship, and since the Whydah would probably be in the trading ship category, it is really up to the community to decide whether to upvote this ship or not. I think she could be a nice addition, tell me in the comments what you guys think.
  3. Beautiful Ship, the Captians Cabin looks interesting. I could see an unaware player being ambushed by a pack of Pirates sailing in these!!!
  4. Yeah, I think nominations could be a fun and interesting addition to the forum, I totally support this idea.
  5. She looks like a bigger Rattlesnake, with more guns. I like this one!
  6. Update... I will be reorganizing the layout of this post on 12/22 to include plans from around this forum and will put more of an effort into this topic getting finished.
  7. Nice find! I'd love for you to add this ship to my post "Russian Ship Collection" if you want.
  8. Interesting ship, I like the dark paint scheme on the model. The Swedes know how to build some good looking ships!
  9. This is my complete and reorganized Russian Ship Collection post, I looked through the forum to find every plan for Russian Ships that I could and posted them here. 10. She's a very good looking ship, I can't stop returning to this post to look at that 3d drawing. I hope the devs consider putting her into the game...
  11. This is a very interesting ship, It would be nice to see more of a variety of unique ships in the game...
  12. Wow, I really like this one, there's just something about ships designed in Venice that I like...
  13. Wow, I'd love to see this ship in game, I love two-decker fourth rates from that time period. I'm not sure how the devs could properly balance her, but I'm sure they can...
  14. Wasp was a ship-rigged sloop-of-war constructed in 1813 at Newburyport, Massachusetts, by Cross & Merrill. She was commissioned early in 1814, Master Commandant Johnston Blakeley in command. She remained at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, until late spring awaiting sailing orders and, upon receipt of them, put to sea on 1 May 1814 for a war cruise to the western approaches to the English Channel. Here is a list of the ships captured by Wasp during her first raiding voyage in the English Channel. June 2, 1814, Wasp captured her first vessel, the 207-ton barque Neptune. June 13, 1814, she took William, a 91-ton brig. June 18, 1814, Wasp encountered the 131-ton armed brig Pallas without resistance. June 23, 1814, 171-ton galiot Henrietta, June 26, 1814, Wasp captured the 325-ton ship Orange Boven. June 28, 1814, Wasp engaged the 18-gun Cruizer class brig-sloop HMS Reindeer. July 4, 1814, 112-ton brig Regulator July 6, 1814, 151-ton schooner Jenny Second raiding voyage August 30, 1814, she captured the brig Lettice August 31, 1814, she captured Bon Accord. September 1, 1814, she captured the brig Mary and the 18-gun, 391-ton brig HMS Avon. September 12, 1814, she encountered Three Brothers, a brig, September 14, 1814, she sank the brig Bacchus. September 21, 1814, captured the eight-gun brig, Atlanta Fate Wasp was last seen by a Swedish merchantman bound from Rio de Janeiro to Falmouth, England, about three weeks after the Atalanta capture and was said to be headed for the Caribbean. Wasp probably foundered in a storm. Specifications Tonnage: 509 Length: 117 ft 0 in (35.66 m) Beam: 31 ft 6 in (9.60 m) Draft: 14 ft 6 in (4.42 m) Complement: 173 officers and enlisted men Armament: 2 x long 12-pounder guns + 20 x 32-pounder carronades USS Wasp had a short but illustrious carer during the war of 1812, capturing 15 enemy ships. She would also be the basis for future American flush-decked sloop of war designs. She would be a nice ship to sail in Naval Action.
  15. She's definitely the most beautiful ship I've seen on the forum so far in my opinion! I love 5th rates dated from 1680-1730... I'm totally voting for this ship in a poll, and hope She eventually makes it into the game
  16. Spanish xebec-frigate El Gamo being captured by HMS Speedy on May 6, 1801.
