  1. Week 3 map is up.

This week we see the Colonials and Outlaws continue their age old battle for the Bahamas. While Spain continues to lose their empire, the Redcoats push France out of Haiti and the French Liberators free Dominica from the Brits. The Dutch continue to expand their resource markets in the south. Sweden holds firm. And those Danes...uhoh Dominico, they're ready to butt heads with the real Redcoats.

  2. Check out the action for the previous week on the OP. Also, much thanks to navalactioncraft.com for their API work on the map and correcting the ports and even adding the secret island (WITH the new port out there, hehe); great job!

So, week two of the new patch system shows a status quo from all nations attempting to grad up fine resources and regional bonus counties. The Colonials find a stalemate pushing south around FL. Pirates and Redcoats bump into each other as they continue to push the French out of Haiti. The Danes go inactive, which scares all nations, save their buddy pirates. The Swedes have a bit of internal strife and make no advancements. And the Dutch continue sweeping up around S. America.

Providing people get over their pouts about this new patch, get down to business, and don't leave....aaagain, I suspect there will be much to do this coming week. I see angry PvP and screenings in the near future for PvP2. Tune in and see!

  3. This week's map has been uploaded.

All nations continue to advance into the dwindling Spanish Empire. US continues its march south along the Florida coast. Pirates reclaim La Tortue and southern Bahamas. Swedes gain Southern Antilles. Dutch spread along the coast of S. America. And the Danes expand from their home outward.

What will this weekend have in store for the Caribbean PvP2 world? Nobody knows, but I sense some major fights of important regions. One can only hope! :)

  4. OP map is updated.

After the first weekend of the new patch, we see nearly every nation expanding their borders into the vast Spanish empire. The US spreads south. GB secures some islands to help prevent short hops into KPR. Danes head west toward Dominica. The Dutch collect part of S. America. The French and Swedes seem content with their regions and stay home. Pirates invade Cuba and begin their quest to own the Gulf and C. America by infesting the Yucatan.

I expect this coming week will be a massive storm as nations begin their resource grabs, might even be some major fights over regions that produce the scarce and important resources.

  5. If you have a website that is actually filled out somewhat, sure!  But most clans don't have that much in regards to resources.  I was hoping more for a small blurb along the lines of "Heavily invested in the expansion of the Nation" Or "We don't take ourselves too seriously, we just want to have fun" or "We are all about helping new players".  That seems to be the basic trend, aside from Craft-heavy or trade-heavy.  But there's nothing indicating these things on the majority of the clan information provided.  Does this make sense?  It doesn't need to be information heavy necessarily, but if I'm looking for a clan, I'd like to know what I'm getting into before talking to someone.  If I want to play casually, I probably shouldn't talk to someone that wants scheduled battles every week and demands constant attention.

I see what you're looking for. This list of clans on the OP are mostly collected from my own observations in game. The ones that have links are ones people have messaged me their info. If you click on them, most go to their recruitment thread here on the forum that will give you their mission and what they are looking for in players. Some links go to their clan website where they usually have that info and more. But that's the best I have as an answer.

Updated OP. TY for the info, links attached.

  7. Hey Cpt Blackthorne

Had great fights with you and all the US players back in the day.

Switched servers and nations. (wwwwwuuuuuutttttt???? NNNoooooooo!)

was John Bernard Shaw Cable (GB) US server

now Ben the Dick Arnold (US) EU server

Always good fun mate. Hope you come back so we can have more encounters. :)

  8. New map is up; view the top spoiler for activity during last week.

So, this week should be the last of the PB flag system before the possible update coming this Thursday. Let's certainly hope.

This previous week showed a resurgence of the Brits, as they retook ports from the Pirates who vowed to crush the Brits to their home port. According to reports in the Global Chatter, loudmouth bashing will lead into yet another thrashing. And while the Pirates are focused on the Brits, this left plenty of time for the US to soak up some ports, including the secret island. Onto the others: Spain remains invisible; France has reports of a possible population spurt coming; Swedes make an announcement to attack anyone, except the Pirates and Danes, yet have not made a move yet; Danes are working closely with the Pirates against the Brits and to prevent the expansion of the Dutch; and the Dutch slowly expand their territories westward.

What will this last week of insanity bring on PvP2? All I know is I have plenty of popcorn.

Here is the current tally after a week of PBs:

    PI - 96    v 23

    ES - 5     - 0

    FR - 15    - 0

    GB - 18    ^ 14

    VP - 27    ^ 1

    DN - 44    - 0

    SV - 1     - 0

    US - 125   ^ 8

If you find any of this interesting and maybe even enticing, join us on the PvP2 server. And if you're already on the PvP2 server with a clan not listed and linked to in this OP, please reply with your clan's info in the following format:

    Nation:

    [Clan Tag] - Clan Name:

Clan website or game-labs recruitment thread:

(And as always....if you don't have a recruitment thread or clan signature banner, msg me and I can make one...for an in-game price    :))

  9. Why not make some of these missing famous ships a part of "secret" AI fleets that randomly appear in OW near their nation capital? It would be pretty awesome to be sailing around Willemstad and just happen to see De Zeven Provincien as part of an AI fleet that I can attempt to capture, or sailing near Gustavia and find a fleet that has The Vasa in it.

  10. Very very cool stories. Just what i was hoping to promote.

Feel free to post as many times as you want. Will be cool to see if nemesis changes or to see how many times he or she has thearted you.

Pics would be nice too, cuz none of these stories happened if there's no screenshot to prove it. :D (so that means i've not sunk as many times as my post suggests. heh)

Fun with Loco and Duncan where we finally outnumbered a rat gank group :)

And that one time when Ashcan was captured...after a PB outside Grand Turk, I think. But of course...I still played submarine after awhile.

  11. On PvP2, I'd have to say John Bernard Shaw Cable and Dbl 00 Buck from Brit have been quite fun opponents, always catching me as the straggler leaving a PB. GGs mates.

Facing the pirate team of Loco Bandito, Duncan McFail, Latron, Zep the Black, with at times 7Grams and Ashcanibics, always turns out with me playing submarine...the latter of the group being my all time nemesis. I think I've given Ashcan and his gold boarding ship enough ships to form a fleet. :)

  12. The system you are proposing has a lot of similairitys with the game railnation. The problems i see with this setup will be that till 1625 more or less most the warships were converted merchants and i believe that some nations did not had any broadside warships. But correct me if i am wrong. And the map would be horrible inbalanced because first the US did not even exist, the english were becoming active around ,naval wise, 1620 and a few other arguments. Nice idea but won't work with this game

As pietje said, dont think it would work in game for a few more reasons:

    1. it would mean asset wipes are needed... some people(me included) would despair at having map resets that often

    2. It would be a lot of work for the developers(take a look at how long ships take to implement right now... and now imagine you need at the very least 20 ships for every 50 years...)

    3. the problem of nations as pietje said(though some artistic licensing could probably be done here though i wouldnt agree with it)

I certainly understand the points made, but below is a neat idea with a different server where players choose to either play different eras, or...

A long time ago i wrote a post in which i stipulated that the only viable implementation of an alternative time period would be on a different server.

On that server you can adjust the names of certain towns, default ownership, and add or remove certain towns to match the time frame.

On this seperate server you would have ships from 1600-1700, effectively granting access to the galleons & fluits many adore. Whilst also including proper firepower.

If ever, a full-on community ship design spree could make this possible.

Just on a side note, blackthorne, dont underestimate the firepower ships of the 17th century carried.

A nice reference would the 7 prov (1665) for the dutch, 80-guns, 36' on her main deck, 18' on her upper, and 6/9's on the fore castle and quarterdeck. (precisely the ship I seriously want to see in game, along with the Swedish Vasa) :)

Or any of the English first rates of the era, all armed with (some partially 32's) 42's on their main.

Separate server is a good idea, or

What if (being an OW sandbox) the server just continually ran from 1600? thru 1800 at in-game speed with scheduled world events that would auto load and then the server would reset only after "win conditions" were met after 1800, just as it will now with this new update coming out?

The event list would include real historical events that lead to the new map coming out, i.e. certain trade routes opening, ship modifications (merchant ships to warships), complete new ship designs of the era, famous naval battles, rebellions, even revolutions that lead to new nations (if enough people choose to join the revolution side).

Players would spend the first era mostly trading, gathering resources for the next era, or privateering, even pirating, mostly sailing the big trade ships and treasure galleons with cannon mods of the era in an effort to build their nation up for warring with other nations.

Then one of the above listed world events would happen that changes the era allowing for upgraded warships...each major event auto loading once in-game time has been reached...and so on.

As much as I love this game, I'm just disappointed with the limited national ships, and frustrated that even more British ships keep being added to the game when the Dutch, Danish, and Swedish nations have no ships represented in game, even tho they had some amazing vessels during this game's time frame. Maybe I will have to wait for NA2 :/ heh

  13. wouldnt count on anything pre-1700 to get ingame.

Apparently this is quite an old thread and no longer actively used. But I still must say that after a almost 2 years, I find it quite sad to see in-game nations without any ships of their own and yet a huge overload of British ships. This game would do much better with a wider verity of ships. And I think each in-game nation should absolutely have its historically most famous flag ships. I believe this could be obtained in at least one of two ways:

    1. Simply allowing older famous ships the in-game armament of the class it was intended for irl (primarily based on gun count, but not completely)

or a slightly cooler game system

    2. Considering Capitals will now be capturable and the game actually having a "Win" objective that will require regular map resets, the devs should make each reset progress in different eras, changing the age of ships. Say each era is the equivalent of the average service years of these prime flagships: about 50 years?.

         A. The games starts at say mid 1500s. All ships available are from 1550-1600.

         B. Once this age is won by a nation capturing more nations than others, the map resets to 1600-1650, and the available ships are now from this era.

         C. It continues until 1800 (or there about)

C.Once the game has run its full cycle, it then resets back to the beginning mid 1500s era.

All I can say is that this game seriously hinders the fun factor for people of the nations in game by not providing them with their most famous of ships...imho. We simply need a larger variety of national ships. It's just getting rather lame where nearly every PvP and PB battle is loaded with Brit ships vs US ships all the time.

    Please and thank you.
