  1. Klar macht das Mühe. Aber "events" ohne Not rauszuhauen? Man kann es den Kindern auch so geben (BP), dann sind sie eher happy.
  2. Opposite. Make ships more easy to craft...and all 1 Dura or the above approach. (makes boarding capping more exciting at low tiers....do I care to cap a Frigate? nah....)
  3. >>Anständige Informationen sind noch besser... Sag ich doch. Keine INFOS = falsche Erwartungen...
  5. next task, translate it into French/Spanish/Russian....!!!! Still, I am in favour of paragrahps. Not all readers are english-mother-tongue speakers. Give them a hand. - definition, origin, ships, location, motivation and so... It´s a great essay and if you open it to the publiy, you "speak" to the audience. And the audience is limited. "Break" in text helps.
  6. First look = I am impressed. Where are the "introduction / conclusion"? If you keep it academic, add it. It helps readers also (like bibliography...)
  7. >>WE are the members who make it a forum WE can undo that is a simple and equal way as they have done. Yeah sure. Programme your own game and / or run a private NAval Action forum with YOUR rules. Welcome! No one will be stopping you....
  8. That´s bullshit, sorry. They are humans and humans make mistakes. Basically, they are doing a good job. I don´t want to be exposed to all the b** coming out of player´s pens. Just imagine NO regulation? I don´t need another porn side. For my taste more deletion´d be welcome. As they cannot read all, it happens that some deletes/comments appear arbitrarily. Like in global chat. They hop onto it and "warn a player" being abusive (not knowing another guy started off earlier). GamesLabForums is a private house. And like in real life, I won´t enter a private house not knowing what I expect in there and if common rules of respect are being applied there...
  9. ofc you can You could consider such exposure contrary to all rules of decency? just define house rules; close small battles for the time or place a warning window next to them not many play small battles anymore (different topic) You define precondition of Naval Action ethics, which should be maintained by rules of propriety and politeness. If you let players "troll" and "insult" around because they feel somehow excluded or found they bought wrong game or whatsoever....they discover a new sport. It´s like fighting corruption or tax evasion, you can only beat it enforcing strict rules. ------------ One word on "report" and chat bans. I think those matter are not strictly being enforced. Not a single "report" got ever answered (lack of capacity?). There has to be an "answer by a report expert" and a report-limit for every player, so you don´t have to work all day-night. It is not only a matter of good etiquette, but is crucial in the drive to eliminate unfair discrimination. Thx for reading, W.
  10. Nah, I am fine man. Thx! >>It's called oppression when those consequences have no legitimate cause. >>gamelabs is based in the ukraine not the usa This statement made me cry. (one need to know that once I was engaged with a Ukraine woman long ago. Great time!) So if anyone want to insult Ukrainian because they believe Americans are any better in whatever respect, I need to fight back! I am fine, if mods handle it this way, it says there was a statement they did not like + reason given = perfect solution.
  11. Not sure if this is already mentioned. Hang around? Fishing? I mean, what´s the point farming AI over and over again...why not just be in a zone / circle. # Reminds me to Wot, just capture an area if more tanks are in, capture accelerates. Transformed to NA, just be near this port = hostility rises.... I mean, just camp this area = blockade the port. Maybe a combination, but "camping" should count. advantage: enemies need to know (ah there are players in there...lets go and scout and defeat) I am not so sure about AI farming.... Another point ADMIN mentioned: he said something like: Port Battles will not / never be initiated without any PvP? Best defensive strategy: defenders never go there... Camping alone should suffice, my opinion. Takes time, but if enemy chickens out, they do so...
  12. needs to be in here, too Heth.... http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/5396-what-music-while-playing-naval-action/page-10#entry303216
  13. Did not check what Devs plan. But this is the right approach to the "club" problem. Simple, one can create his own "club" by effort. Also, one might think this could lead to faction-balancing. If you try hard to get access to PBs, but fail because bif clans (Brits) dominate every region and you never make it to a PB...change nation where you have a chance.... Did not check what Devs plan..update: YEAH, sounds fine... http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/14816-update-on-the-port-battle-set-up/page-8#entry303763 There are already new problems arising... who controls the timer...who joins the "club"...? Interesting problems....
  14. Test??? I........ I.......... I........... I.............. I................. The only thing I think you can criticise devs on, they have been too "conservative" on imposing real test sessions on players.... You all want to play NA for free until the end of your life, eh? This "free-to-play"-generation...tssssssss (my first MMO was full price + 10 Euro subscription per month (if I played or not)...and they did patch a lot...)
  15. Delete point 1 and then we have possible "revolt", add... 10. all existing clan leader´s unite and kill Skully.... :)
  16. Wow. Does this mean I can test all my ships "safely" at 1vs.1 on the OW??? Awesome. Will be an interesting "tag" festival. Looking forward to this one...
  17. fox2run has stated the problem himself: "exclusiveness". The good PortBattle is both, either a club good and turns into a common-pool-ressource when it comes to pulling the flag. It is a club, if there are enough players making it the desired 24 "highest-ship" Port Battle. Clans / flag carriers can ensure to "exclude" other players. Then it is a "club". (there is nothing wrong with "clubs" fox2run). Here, the buyer of the flag should determine who enters. Problem comes into play, if the game is "announced" or the players expect to be able to attend PortBattles (public good). No one should be excluded from the use of a "public good" (we bought the game logic = I can do all). But PBs may not be public goods, they are club goods. (sidestep: another problem arises, if one of players who "should not be there" enters the club (free-rider fox2run)). The "flag-pulling" problem is different and happened to me in the beginning. Being ignorant, I did not realize I had to ask clans before I pull a flag. No one can prevent me from pulling a flag (private good), but it may affect others (rivalry in consumption). Classical common-pool problem. If rivalry happens (others / clans wanted to pull a flag), we have a problem. fox2run might believe "pulling" the flag is a private action, it is not. I love this problem. How could you solve it as a regulator / dev? He clearly, could destroy succesful gameplay for the Danes....we are right in the middle of social science...
  18. So interesting to read this discussion. Amazingly, some economic basics apply here. Port Battles are neither a private or a public good. The are somewhat club or common-pool ressources. You can figure it out yourself... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Club_good https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common-pool_resource According to the tragedy of the commons, you could refer to PORT BATTLES...as the tragedy of PORT BATTLES. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tragedy_of_the_commons The tragedy of the commons is an economic theory of a situation within a shared-resource system where individual users acting independently according to their own self-interest behave contrary to the common good of all users by depleting that resource through their collective action. ----------------- The fox2run-player "pulling a flag" because he claims he has a right to, clearly destroys the "good succesful Port Battle". (succesful only with TS and coordination). He acts like the individual fisher/famer whose behaviour leads to overexploitation, also called overharvesting. In PB terms, call it OverPortBattling or WrongPortBattling. Individual, uncoordinated actions in NA (at Port Battles) finally lead to the "good succesful" Port Battle being destroyed. It´s a classical problem. Maybe, you see the point now fox2run!? How to tackle the problem? - regulate (devs design, like the state or government) - community solves the problem And interestingly, the Pirates community "regulated" this problem nicely, by putting everyone on a "kill on sight" list, who did not follow the likes / bahaviour of the majority. And more interestingly, research showed that the PEOPLE can solve the problem the best themselves (if not so many are involved)! It get´s tricky with anonymity and more individuals. I don´t know what tools the community have to prevent fox2run "exploting the ressource PortBattle", but you make me feel, they are somehow "limited"? Maybe the Den.-Norge community should ask for government intervention (=devs) and not the player?
  19. Please, close this thread. (don´t know, if someone´s opening a topic can ask for...like: closed on request). Arguments have very much shown that the idea is falling short. Like "Skully´s" way of Socratic method. That´s the way to handle dialogues...
  20. Bingo. Yes, you are right. Usually, clans are having problems making the numbers. The problem I raised, is not a big one, more about "immersion style". I was thinking of the old "small battles", when you left the battlefield...."you have 2min to return or you sink" transforms to "you are in range of the cannons of a big fleet, you have 2min to get out of range or you sink" I just don´t like to see basic cutters being next to Trafalgar fleets. But on the other hand, i enjoyed it being a relatively fresh player in Jan/Feb.
  21. Yeah, sure. But we should stop now. We are drifting away (maybe, you start a thread about the "religious foundations of the carribean or something like this...would be fun, enough to discover...) On topic! This thread is about.... Dutch Nation High Council requests applications for the post of a Dutch Nation International Diplomat
  22. No need to intervene on this one my dutch friend. That´s good role-playing and no trolling. Look at his reply. Amazing..."ultimate religious and moral authority in the Caribbean". That´s why the Dutch are "reformed"...and the Spanish are doomed to burn in hell... Damn baptists.... As the ultimate religious and moral authority in the Caribbean, i had to intervene, since all these ideas are abominable in the eyes of God and any civilian authority that has been chosen to maintain the established order. That is why I intervened, if you care to read what I wrote.
  23. What i meant is, I find it just bad being able to scout a 10xVIC-fleet on a simple Privateer, giving coordinates to my faction, without being sunk automatically. I just should not dare get even close to them (only from distance using a spyglass....)
