  1. I'd rather say it's hurting non-consensual PvP, which doesn't sound really wrong.
  2. 500 gold coins per crew, are we buying every dude a villa or what?
  3. If the server power plug was pulled there can be no battle/loss. I wonder if you'd still stay in the instance in this case.
  4. I'd like to have the detailed damage report to only show actual damage stats, and hide lines where no damage has been made so the interface is cleaner and only shows useful info.
  5. You could also clearly see the "cannot leave" bug in action: Aubrey was unable to escape combat for hours while the Acheron was clearly out of range and none of its cannonballs could hit the Surprise during the whole chase.
  6. If we build a nice 3D ship model for the devs, we might get an extra ration of rum. Hopefully a gold rum ration.
  7. Oui merci de maintenir les nouvelles neutres et impartiales, et que chacun se fasse sa propre opinion
  8. Hm but pvp is where people are. And yet there are many PB with no defenders. Current towns are for the most just empty NPC placeholders. Towers smashing is no fun/pvp. I wish all factions would start with a few colonies, and others current towns are just empty spots players/clans can to colonize and develop, it would make sense to defend and maintain what we create rather than capturing static NPC towns located on the other side of the map. Of course if people like sailing for hours they still could colonize very distant lands Or, regional capitals could be neutral towns one needs to capture in order to build/access towns of that region. Not something you buy, but something you develop through resources gathering. We need those traders ships sailing, around main hubs, that's some more pvp. It would be difficult for one large faction to colonize all the towns, for they would have to invest a lot of time and resources, and the larger the empire is the harder it is to defend. It could also be capped at some point: when x amount of towns/regions a faction owns is reached, each additional region it takes adds a national production penalty/tax to all current towns and buildings, let's say, for the upkeep of such a large empire. This way nobody can own it all, and development will be limited to what a faction can afford to lose.
  9. I have never seen players patrol trade routes with warships. Warships you see around are either fleet/port sitting, or moved to other ports but certainly not tooling around traders ships looking for some pvp to occur. Privateers/pirates in fast ships looking for traders are not interested in pvp with heavier ships carrying guns So still no pvp.
  10. 15 traders? I wish there would be 15 traders to catch in my area
  11. Just out of curiosity, why using a trader ship to capture a trader ship?
  12. Never set Midshipman Hollom as one of your ship Officers
  13. This. Moreover, spotting a deal is only half the deal. You still have to sail to the port and get the stuff, so let who wants it fetch it and use it. It's not even a PotBS-like live market info tool allowing you to buy anthing from anywhere How many times do you sail to your trading port(s) only to see that someone already purchased what you're looking for, and you now have to wait even more hours -or come back again- to get what you need? If it doesn't ring a bell please don't vote no above Hours of boring sailing saved. Honestly, who would turn down a tool that lets you make better deals? This one seems to only show a single report for the whole day. Not a threat for sure. Kindly see above. Plus traders don't like half-filled cargo holds. Pirates neither, mind you
  14. The whalers killed them all to turn them into oil?
  15. You automatically turn into a pirate swabbie in a basic cutter at Somerset at the next server maintenance Plenty of time to do this and more during OW journeys
  16. If you enjoy a good read check this out: The 6 Most Mismatched Battles Ever Won by Underdogs Some stories there are gold, like the use of the Dardanelle Gun, an antique, decorative cannon firing random crap at the British Navy ships until they give up and leave
  17. What are the red and white areas for (at the edge of the "radar" map in battle instances)? Thanks
  18. You can only post contracts in ports you can enter.
  19. Hm but none is born as a pirate, one must become one. Why not make everyone start in a nation and make pirates a pool people can join using the current system (to pillage and plunder to their heart's content) and then obtain an amnesty in two ways, either: - pick a new faction by purchasing a very expensive letter of pardon from, let's say, a corrupt governor/official (to be paid in money and experience, for no national navy would accept a former pirate as admiral, so maybe not above captain rank) - obtain a royal/national pardon from a faction that lacks players, which would be like becoming some kind of privateer, in this case the pardon is free and you keep your current rank. This of course once pirates no longer function like a nation. Now I'm not sure there should be incentives to become a pirate, especially with the new pvp rewards. What do people want? Cash, experience, gifts/stuff/ego boosts okay that could be improved. And this could be a good opportunity to try something else, and also to switch nations without having to lose all the stuff & cash. Hunting pirates was very time consuming and expensive in resources, so offering some kind of amnesty was still the easiest way to eradicate piracy.
  20. Very nice thread with many good points -Conquest should be difficult, if not hard. Make the flags price reflect the amount of ports a nation owns. -Capture windows/timers are tricky. Tricky is rarely fair & useful. -Maybe at this point, the game has too many factions. Start small, then expand instead of having unbalanced factions and underdogs that are hard to manage. -It will be very difficult to have a balanced game if we keep it (too) historical (capitals location for instance). I like the idea of naval bases, added fortifications and such. It's going to be really interesting I dislike the ports reset idea for as long as the current issues are not solved since it will start all over again. More content is good, but what we don't fix remains broken, even with new/more toys. But hey, I trust you'll do it right
  21. Très instructif, merci pour ton travail. Vraiment.
  22. They usually used ballast to compensate the cargo, and balance the ship's overall weight. A street in La Rochelle, France is paved with stones from all over the world brought there as ship ballast.
