Curbing PVP gank fleets
Yngvarr replied to Yngvarr's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I understand, but when 90% of the times i get attacked OW, it's by a group of 4 or more, there's something wrong with people's perception of PVP. However, that's just my point of view. -

Ever though about players that want to enjoy an equal measure of PVE and PVP content. Quit being so narrow-minded. -
Curbing PVP gank fleets

As i predicted.. The PVP minded players shoot down anything that does not fit within their narrow view of what this game should or could be. Not 1 constructive post, no room for discussion or compromise. -
Curbing PVP gank fleets

So you would be totally fine with being captured or sunk by 4-5 players, without the ability to do little more than make a scratch? -
Curbing PVP gank fleets

Currently, we from the Dutch nation see far too much of this phenomenon. 4-5 enemy players, tagging, boarding or sinking one of our players. That's the equivalent of picking a random single person on the street, and beating that person into a pulp with a group of 4 or 5, and then stealing that person's possessions. That's not PVP, it's a mugging/ robbery. I do not find this kind of behavior in the spirit of having a fun time in a game. This is just people who want to get rewards, without having the risk of losing something themselves. I'd suggest a restriction on (PVP, regular or both) rewards when the attackers total BR is like X-times larger than the ship they are attacking. Might curb the appeal a bit to seal-club single players in group. For example....4 Wasa's going after 1 LGV, this is a combined BR of 1000 VS 110. That's pretty much a 10 fold advantage on the side of the attackers There's no risk, there's no real work to be put in, no fun to be had. But of course this will be shot down by the hardcore PVP'ers immediately. In my opinion, PVP'ers are being coddled way too much with their ships buy-able with marks, and special refits and upgrades. Crafting a ship is not part of either the PVE or PVP side of the game, it's part of the RPG part of this game. Therefore this part should remain the same, whichever activity you prefer to undertake, being PVE or PVP If having to participate in that is too much to ask of these players, they're in the wrong place.

Is this an unacceptable exploit?

One can only hope... But for some people their notion of PVP is to jump a single ship with a group of 4 or 5. Promoting more PVP
Yngvarr replied to sounthernrebel78's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I'd advise you not to shoot down any post commenting on PVP and PVE, just because it does not fit into your view of what this game should be. In the spirit of having a meaningful and constructive discussion, I'd ask you to keep an open mind. -

Right you are. It's a little like a horse with blinkers on, they only can see what's in front of them, which is PVP. -
Moderator taking sides + open positions

I've not seen any moderators online on the Dutch side as well for a very long time now. Perhaps we need some new/ extra ones? I hereby volunteer myself for duty on PVP EU Requirements: Insightful and helpful posts on forums across all sections: I always try to keep my posts constructive and non-salty ;-) Positive attitude in everything: Check (i want this game to succeed, It's quite unique) Thick skin: I've been working for 8 years now in IT Support, thick skin is pretty much a requirement there too. Excellent knowledge of the game: I have some 1.8k hours in the game currently, but i can always learn more :-) English language: I do speak, read and write English Another language is a huge plus: Dutch, French and a notion of German -
Same here, disconnect while in harbor. I do think that the hamster fell from it's wheel.

And the port battle of Maracaibo is not starting either.

Is this why the Dutch are being ganked 5 pirates vs 1 Dutch? Don't crack down on other nations, because i've yet to see a single pirate engage in PVP on it's own. They always need a small fleet to attack 1 player, and when reinforcements arrive, they scurry off like cockroaches.

Suggestion On Loss Of Experience Slots
Yngvarr replied to William Drayman's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
<sarcasm> Why don't you directly propose a system, that were you die or sink, you have to start all over again. You die, no more XP, no more crafting XP, all ships, outposts and money gone, and just start from scratch. Find more ways to chase players away from this game, why don't you. </sarcasm> -
I shall not disagree that the British nation seems very fractured and disorganized.

You best aim your hostilities to George II or George III, depending on the year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Great_Britain

And what port would that be? Kemp's Bay or Rum Cove? Kemp's Bay is a port you've started with since the wipe, meaning you've had access to Coal since the beginning. Same for Silver and Gold. So, you really can't say that you did not have any advantage over other nations.

You're a few centuries off with those facts mate. Catherine of Aragon (Spanish: Catalina de Aragón), also spelled Katherine, (16 December 1485 – 7 January 1536) was Queen of England from June 1509 until May 1533 That is the 16th century. This game takes place during the 18th and early 19th century.

Talk about kicking a nation when it's already down on it's knees. Due to gross imbalance, "Seal Clubbing" is all this will be amounting to.

It's quite clear that this game in it's current state is more "work" than "play" for many participants. (and yes, i am counted among them) And frankly, i can't blame then for complaining about it. Who wants to come home from work and start his second job called "Naval Action"? And for everyone that wants to shoot down my opinion of the current state of the game, i'm guessing the nation you're playing is currently in a position of advantage over others, and therefore don't wish to lose said advantage.
