  1. And also, because they fired broadsides at ranges of about 100 yards.
  2. I've been looking for tables concerning the accuracy of these types of guns, yet i've not found any. only tables about the max range.. http://arc.id.au/CannonBallistics.html http://www.napoleonguide.com/navyind.htm http://www.hmroyalartillery.com/artillery.html
  3. It was a time in which it not only mattered if the war was won or lost, but also in which manner it had been fought. Being a gentleman and matters of honor and such. Officers were often from wealthy families and educated as gentlemen, and were supposed to keep the enlisted men in line.
  4. In a patch a long time ago, the ability to do lower level missions with a ship above it's designed class was removed. I think there should be room to allow people to blow up cutters with a line-ship, it'll just give little to no rewards. I would, respectfully, ask that this feature could be restored if a few things are tweaked, i.e the rewards. Depending on how you juggle the multipliers, lets say, if you do a 4th rate battle: in a 4th rate = 100% rewards in a 5th rate = 150% rewards in a 6th rate = 200% rewards in a 3rd rate = 75 % rewards in a 2nd rate = 50 % rewards This is just a proof of concept, the numbers are variable. This could be tweaked in a way that doing low level missions with high level ships is actually not efficient for gaining money or marks. The larger the difference in either BR or ship class, the lower the rewards.. Therefore, it would give people something they could do, without it having a negative effect.

  6. Then you might just as wel bring back the option to go into low level missions with high level ships. It might not bring me rewards, but at least i'll have fun blowing frigates out of the water in a lineship.
  7. How does it make sense to have missions correspond with a class of ship the whole time, only to have that the top tier missions need to be done in a 3rd rate ship? i mean, really? that's just removing content...
  8. that's why i said, may or may not apply to the home region. If this does not apply to the home region, all ports of the home region keep their reinforcement zone Also, there's this little thing called "smuggling"
  9. What if we remove the reinforcement zones from the ports that are not regional capitals? That way, a province with 4 ports only has 1 port with a reinforcement zone. It would also make a bit more sense, as reinforcements are more likely to be stationed in the largest port. I would suggest that this might or might not apply on the home region of a nation...this is something to be discussed.
  10. As if PVP players are absolutely innocent of the same... If you focus on PVP or PVE your view as to what needs to change will always be biased towards what will benefit you. To have a balanced opinion, your time should be equally spent on PVP and PVE. There is no absolute truth, it will always be ever so slightly tinted by the person that tells it.
  11. Perhaps you can find a derelict ship with an eagle bow-figure?
  12. I meant, in the tweet it is written "decresed", and it should be "decreased". There's nothing wrong with the numbers.
  13. Decreased is spelled wrong here, it was spelled correct in previous posts:
  14. so you mean that the number in the "Crew" box gets higher the more sails you raise?

  17. Funny thing is that most of the bad reviews are being written by people that have barely 200 hours in the game. Myself, I've got 1800+ on the counter, and i can see that development is not halted, although perhaps not at the speed it once was.
  18. Yea, overstacking of upgrades is an issue that needs to be addressed. Cause now we have 4th rates that can outrun 5-6th rates, while pummeling 2nd rates into submisison. Also, i miss my exceptional ships of old.. Ship crafting has been "meh" ever since
  19. You are correct, it seems that emblems on sails was more a 16th century thing, on paintings from 17-18th century, i can't find any. Those painting do however give us an idea of the color of the sails, which are either off-white, lightly gray or slightly yellowish Examples
  20. not only the sails look like they're new, the ships do too. Salt water and exposure to the elements would make the colors of the paint less vibrant/ more muted in color. And emblems on sails are actually historically accurate. The Portuguese had the Columbus Cross on the sails of their Caravels and Carracks during exploration voyages. The Spanish would have done something similar i think, as would the Holy Roman Empire. So, Crosses and double-headed eagles would have been possible...
  21. Unless you have multiple physical machines, mirroring the same game-instance, it's not possible. there will always be a difference in connection speed/ latency to those that are further away. That's why, in IT, we replicate the file structure to the local file server of remote offices. Otherwise they'd depend too much on a fast internet connection, and files would take far too long to open. But running the same game server on multiple physical machines, and have them sync with each other, might cause a whole other set of issues.
  22. Actually, i do not hate PVP, nor the players who engage in this activity. However, I do have issues with how some players approach PVP. Anyway, i'll not make any more forum posts concerning PVP, in many instances it seems to much a sensitive subject to have an earnest discussion over. Send a PM, i you'd like. I'll not respond further to this post
  23. Can a admin/ mod close this topic please? It's obviously spun out of control, and comments are now just players pointing fingers and talking trash.
