  1. Whack-a-Mole Port head popping..oh no gank... go back in. There is no way to force players into PVP. The 17 ports taken this morning (US time) ... all interesting
  2. Amazingly explicit example of why the changes are needed.
  3. Youtube is so last year it isn't silly. You might as well say view it in picture taken by a Polaroid! (oh I forgot they brought that back for millennials. Spectator mode if you miss the battle call would be a great person engagement and real time.
  4. After watching the Admiral the Dutch movie about Michiel de Ruyter (must see) I was thinking about the scenes where town's people were watching the battles from the beach. It would be both cool and entertaining ( if not engrossing) to enter a port battle and spawn as a spy glass on shore to watch the battle as a spectator. There could be very few things that would cement new players to the game than this.
  5. I have been playing this game for awhile and have waxed and waned on port battles. The can be some of the most fun and some the worst and most boring aspects of this game. I have sat for hours trying to group up for the battle and I have sat for hours at bogus flags. In reality it is probably the worst mechanic in this game of Naval Action. All the advantage is with the attacker and makes the map so volatile that it has become toxic for half the the large guilds I have seen come and go since January. Sitting for hours near a port waiting to either attack or defend is a complete waste of gameplay time creating a tedious aspect of an otherwise great fighting game. This is why we need a method to insure that you can be part of the battle. What is proposed is a expedition button in a friendly port. Once a battle starts there is little you can do to get to it and help. In real there were expeditions to relief a besieged port. This should be the same affect in game. You push/pay for the relief expedition flag and you can enter the port battle as it holds it open for your arrival. I know the mechanics are changing but this should be added. The ability to bring a defensive force into the battle once the battle has been set is an absolute necessity.
  6. It would be nice and add a competitive type of aspect if the game reported to you the number or size of shipping or cargo lost each day. Sort of daily tally so that players could see the carnage, get interested in changing it. Four Ports taken by British Seven ships captured by Pirates French sunk 10 traders and captured $1,00,000 in cargo
  7. There should be some trading missions that give you gold and XP. These mission require transfer of assets around the map hopefully not 3 real days away. They cause activity in known areas and may even alert local ports to the movement. The can be set for huge amounts of gold and cargo at risk by the players but even larger rewards if completed.
  8. Would be nice if crafters had their rank showing too. If you see a level 50 crafter you could PM for some contract work on upgrades.
  9. I am really love fishing along with my trading. However, I was thinking it could be a good player attractor outside of ports or port battles. While I know fishing was not as hotly contested as actual outposts on islands 1790-1820 it could be utilized to make nations fight for special fishing spots. Make it so each nation has a fishing spot but then other nations can capture it or occupy it. Nations get more resources if they own it. Fleets could sail to capture it. It could be only bottles are found these areas. Fishing shops could be specialized build that had to put out nets. It takes you minutes to get them back in or you have to cut them and no fishing until you repair in port. Large fish , Marlin, etc produce more revenue.
  10. Would be nice if you could buy a port upgrade like warehouse upgrade to have more than 5 ships. You can call it enhanced port berthing and possibly even have to pay rent for more than one. That is to keep the ship at a government berth you pay 300 gold per week or so. Also park your ship in a Graving dock for a period similar to crafting hours to place upgrades on the ship, ship repairs and possibly even add enhancements.
  11. I suggest you re-read the dev notes; but I quote the importing bit here. Time zone problem remains unsolved and is managed by the timers
  12. They said they would not remove timers so this suggestion is still relevant.
  13. I thought I replied to this thread but it must be another. This suggestion is only for Gankers. The game should provide for hard worked separation distances that are achieved from instances and it does not. I shoots you back to original playing spot and produces a situation of attack again. This does not simulate real world. The Ships position in the map after the battle should be placed in the real world as a minimum. A delay in the attacking players ability to exit should be 3 minutes or more. Only then could a timer on the screen be considered.
  14. Currently we are at a stalemate in PVP2 and I hear the same in PVP1. Players group together by time zone. In PVP2 the French are now surrounded by Danes that have all their timers set for US time during the day when all the French Players work. There is nothing to attack or be around. The game has achieved a virtual stalemate. The game becomes meaningless for most players. There should be a mechanism to allow you to alter this. I suggest there is a mechanism to attack a town have a regular port battle and this action if won changes the timer one time bracket backwards. The defenders can pay fish meat to move it back.(because it actually requires the to play the game not game it with multiple toons). It could be that they could attack so much enemy AI that tried to take the port to click it back also. if they do not then the attacking team can attack again and click a bracket back again that may be in their time zone to play.
  15. Upgrades for better fishing nets and more fish. Or different type of nets to catch more tuna or mataray.
  16. The strength of the commerce game is meaningless in this game. It only serves one purpose. Buying and Building Ships. Yet this active commerce by players many of who do only crafting and trade does very little to defend towns that are taken when they are offline with only a couple AI towers to defend. Even a small country that has been overtaken by hoards of large Clan gankers cannot defend itself against such mechanics. Therefore they lose their outposts and plantations along with access to cheaper goods. Even if they smuggle the good to maintain their economy it again makes the game meaningless if they cannot take towns because of rank or numbers. The games needs an more even defensive capability for such small country players. I propose a method of providing money to towns for their defense. That is players of a small country can contribute to a towns defense with their plantation profits. Capital cities are completely untakeable. There should be a way for certain economic centers and colonies to achieve near that in defensive capabilities. This would keep factions more viable on the map. Not like the current mess on PVP US 2 where factions get down to just their capital. Players log on, dont want to start all over again. They are not part of a large Ganking Clan that switches all their assets by gift cheat to a clan member's second account who returns it to them when they switch. These economic players are left in the gaps in this game. Money builds forts so it takes more that normal forts to kill. Enemy does not know that instead of the 2 or 3 forts for a non economic defensive port they suddenly have to take 4 or 6 towers before the town falls. Hit power of towers can be contributed to and increase gun sizes for defense. Certain increased attributes are bought for defense such as Pellew Sights. Finally larger forts or grouped forts are produced so that one side of the port has closer forts that are harder to destroy.
  17. Merging Servers would be a Disaster for the Game. US Players will not like the high Ping of the EU server. Most of those voting here probably play the EU server.
  18. Free ports keep the game interesting for player of countries that are with small number of ports. The duress of such a condition put players in a bind for both trade and raiding. The use of free ports allow them to establish a base of operation and expands the enjoyment of the game. I would vote no to this proposal of removing free ports. Beside there is way too much mechanics in the game like deliveries and such just to rip them out.
  19. Yes interesting but quite a different level of approach.
  20. A few thoughts on rules that might make sense A Letter of Marque is purchased and offered by a high rank player Marques are traded the offering player pays for it and it is traded/used like any other commodity. If purchaser wants their money back they can ask for it in the trade. Marques are a time based commodity. They work for a month or until destroyed Using a Letter of Marque changes the players country flag only the ship they are in. Only that ship/fleet moves to the Letter's country but all gold moves with player. Marque Player cannot capture original country ports or ships without getting Pirate warning. Once under a Letter of Marque player can trade/enter port / capture ports like any other player of the Country of the Marque. Giving-up/Destroying the Letter of Marque the player reverts to original country will all Gold and former country state. Only ship/fleet they are in reverts and all other vessels of Marque Flag act as if in captured ports. Name does not change so that players learn Reputation of Marque. Suggested that the Letter of Marque be purchased by player as being country specific. Marque issued by one country against another. (ie. French Chef de Division buys a Marque against Pirates or British) Marque allows player to earn extra XP and Gold bonus when attacking marked countries. A simpler implementation without all the flag changing rules would be to have the Marque only provide bonus for same country against Marque country. That is an incentive for a Country High Rank to purchase a marque and trade it to players who then get bonuses for sinking and attacking those countries that are Maruqed. Buy a marque for Pirate as a British Commander then give or sell to a player who then uses it to gain extra gold and xp attacking a certain country. (note this is not the idea for the side switch effort only a directional incentive for players of a single country) Player cannot purchase and use Marque themselves would be suggested in this rule.
  21. Lol you could have a leaderboard.. would fascinate some players who caught the biggest Tuna.
  22. Provide for weight and length attributes so people can brag about the largest fish they caught.
  23. The game should have letters of Marque that allows players to fight for another country and fly under the flag of the granting nation so that players can help a smaller faction without losing their entire stash of goods. These can be granted by the highest ranks and have a could have a time limit on both when you switch and when you can go back. This way players can play American and get allot of ships and gold then take a letter of mark from French and appear French to other players. If he attacks his own country or country of marque, maybe you could make them have the pirate warnings. Or it allows them to switch and move all their stuff save the outposts and those in Free Towns to the Marque country capital. As many as Five Ships of Marque might be enough. BE IT KNOWN,That in pursuance of an act of congress, passed on the 26th day of June one thousand eight hundred and twelve, I have Commissioned, and by these presents do commission, the private armed Brig called the Prince Neufchatel of the burden of three hundred & Nineteen tons, or thereabouts, owned by John Ordronaux & Peter E. 24. Storms where you could lose you ship and crew (yep all of them to buy over again). if you sail well ahead of the storm and make it to port would add a video game reality to the game. Also you could beach your ship and save 3/4 of the crew but you cargo is placed in a derelict ship like bottles and you can come back for it. If others find it first you lose the cargo.
