Amen brother. I agree with everything but one point. Let them join pbs but make them craftable. I just hope the devs do see the issue because if they deny it I cannot continue to support a product from someone that is dishonest to me as a consumer. To this day they deny there is any advantage.

This is exactly what I am proposing. Make DLC ships craftable and add a small economic bonus for sailing them. Something like +50% credit and XP income.

Some information on enemy actions will be removed from boarding to discourage last click action.

NPC chasing abilities improvements + NPC aggression in the open world (when AI is confident it can catch and the target and give it some action). Captains will have to plan the movement around clusters of enemy ships (players or non players).

    sound like epic battles!

I am sure everyone is excited about being tagged by these 12 ships AI fleets when sailing in the OW from A to B.

  3. I have an idea how this could work :)

Owner of a DLC can redeem 1 permit or 1 note for Herc/Req per day. If the player decides to craft a DLC ship using materials and labour then these ships should be allowed to participate in PBs. If you decide to redeem one (for free) using note then they should be banned from these events. It is simple. 1/2 of the RVR is supplies and gathering them costs time (capturing ships, building ships, etc.). Redeeming a ship costs you nothing. Imagine what would happen if there is a 2nd rate DLC for example ...

  4. Well some of the perks should not be perks at all or should have been granted for everyone.

IMO 90% of players use same setup, so there is really no option, especially if you are involved in PVP.

All of players I know use FC1, doubleshot, charge, expert carpenter and prepared. Never seen anybody using any of the economy perks unless it is an alt. The only option is to have or not to have determined defender, which is considered great by some players.

IMO FC1 and prepared should be granted for free. It usually took hours for ships to get into firing possition, so I see no reason why you should start battle without guns loaded.

I wouldn't know how to play alone and NOT trade.  I only make 1 or 2 trade runs a week, but that keeps me in Reals.  plenty of Doubloons are out there so I guess selling them as @Draymoor suggests is your next best bet.  Make sure you are carrying 10 missions for the types of ships you typically hunt and it's a nice little bonus.

Well I am not against trading, but even 1 trade run means I have no time to do anything else on that day. And I cannot afford losing a trader full of goods, because I am broke :)

  6. How do you get money after patch 2.7 exactly?

I know my knowledge is limited, resources scarce and I am playing solo and for limited time except on weekends. And the most important - I don´t want to do trading runs.

My usual session is 1-2 hours so I am able to find and kill 3-4 5th rates which gives me +- 10k reals and some dobloons if I am lucky. I feel I am limited to my Hercules, because I cannot simply recover from any loss. A crafted 5th rate goes arround 30k + 5-10k for guns. That means I can cover my loss in 4 days. Are there any secrets how to generate reals? Everybody is telling me that money is not a problem in this game, but for me they are. My biggest source of income is crafting cannons which is not time consuming, but it is still 10-15k profit per day.

  7. IMO all exams are OK. You can find them challenging as a new player and that is good.

I have completed every task on 1st try except the final exam which took me 2 tries (I am mediocre player at best with some NA experience). The rewards are great for a newbie and the instant promotion to MC is great too. If you can pass the exams then you are competent to sail a frigate. Good idea, I like it a lot.

I also think that new players should not skip the 6th rates completely. They are great source of fun and fast action with minimal risk. Losing your Herc right after completing the tutorial could be painful.

  8. True. If you want to do some AI raiding in the remote areas then you have to spend enormous portion of time hauling reps there. I suggest all neutral ports should drop reasonable amount of reps every day (even for higher prices), so the raiders could use them and it will increase their time spent in OW dramaticaly. And there should be at least 30% chance to find some reps in the loot.

  9. Removing US insignia and making the "2nd connie" look more neutral could be nice. There is really no need for 2 identical ships. Acheron is fine.

Acheron in MC movie is actually a Constitution, but the filmakers did not want to place the movie in war of 1812. So they came with background story that Acharon was made in US for the French.

  10. When the patch came out I really hated it just because I was not able to find proper targets and was constantly trying to avoid PVP when sailing my SOL.

I have changed my mindset, nation and gamestyle and I can say I enjoy it a lot. I had a great time taking a pickle to Bahamas and then doing the same in Snow. Slowly I will advance to my Hercules and end with something like Trinc or Endymion for my OW activities.

I was sad about the prices of SOLs, but the developers intention is clear. They want people out sailing actively in affordable ships and do PVP. I have no problems with this. The days when everybody was sailing 1st rates for PVE are gone. These ships are too precious now and should be used in group activities only. It is limiting, but IMO people will get used to it soon. The truth is, the patch favours clans too much.

I would like to see lower prices for 4th rates personally. They are ships which can satisfy the "big ships lovers" while not being extremely powerfull. I understand not everybody is interested in frigates as I am. I consider them the most beautiful ships of the era, but dont get me wrong. Watching full scale battle of 1st rates is really nice thing to experience. Nobody is doing RVR now. I think it is all about upcomming wipe rumours, so there is no will to do it. I hope the devs will reconsider the amount of nations. With the playerbase we have got on the PVP servers 10 nations is just too many. I think there will be more quality RVR if there is 5-7 nations only, because the smaller ones have a hard time to gather resources in a long run.

  11. I still think we need more safer and less time consuming PVE experience available (lower risk, lower reward). The patch favours team play strongly. I am ok with this, but many players had missions as a primal source of the income. Not everyone is trading or crafting stuff, because many people find this aspect of the game boring.

It was big fun in the weekend when we put up 4 people together and were killing large NPC fleets, scaring players away etc.. Due to my work I am too late for EU and too earyl for the US timezones, so I was used to play alone and it was possible before the patch. Now when we moved to the dangerzone, I cannot even undock, because you will be jumped by 3-4 established players immediately.

Sorry, but I dont have 1st rates, unlimited resource of money from previous grind and so on. I have to establish a steady income and now trading and crafting is the only way.  So I log on, use my labour hours and go offline to play something else. Not much fun for me.

Devs should realize that there is 500 players online at most, spread among 10 nations and across the huge map. So there should be more action allowing solo players to have fun. Bitter vets will say I should go capturing traders or find an active clan... this is not the way.

  12. Well. You have just killed the game for me. I have very limited playtime (like 1 hour a day), so I was used to jump into the game, pick up a mission and level up so I could sail bigger ships on weekends with my clanmates. Now the missions I have in all ports nearby are against uptiered ships and cannot be completed solo (or not by player on my skill level with poor budget ships I have). I have really no interest in sailing to very limited number of neutral ports to be ganked in every mission I can get.

I am not crying. I am used to pvp, losing ships and stuff from more hardcore games than this is, but I have lost an opportunity to chill in game after I get back from work. Not everybody has 5 hours a day to find AI fleets. I see your point you did this to stimulate OW pvp and prevent people from sitting in safe zones (as I do when playing solo and leveling), but you have removed an option for insta PVE action for casual players.

  13. If there is a BR limitation introduced (for example you cannot attack a snow in a frigate) then there is no reason for having anything but ships of the line in the game. The 90% of naval warfare in the age of sail was about disrupting the trade routes and capturing small, mostly unarmed vessels with frigate size ships. These ships are designed to do that, with superior speed which helps them to run away when being chased.

The nations and older players are responsible for guarding their space and repelling the intruders. Small ships have enough speed in most cases to run away from frigates. If players do not pay attention to intel, or the intel is not provided, then it is players fault, do not blame game mechanics for that.

Any limitation in a sandbox game is bad. I know there must be some mechanics and rules, but do not try to make the game equal vs. equal. It would take out the fun from the hunt away from the game.

I play for 3 months now, was killed once in PVP by 2 ships of similar size. When I was tagged by larger ships, I always managed to escape and I have solid number of solo/small gang victories on my account. The way how to do it is simple. Do not use big, slow ships in the OW alone. My favorite ships are Renommee, Surprise and Trincomalee, they can manage nearly every situation if you are not surprised in the OW. But with all those players who just grind with their 3rd rates it is really a golden age for small frigate gangs moving quickly trough the hostile territory.
