  1. Nice work Grizwald; but as per Peter Fouche's corrections, would a view of the harbor (possibly live) from one of the buildings or the dock, even the beach be possible? Maybe show a launch, or anchor that seabitch out a ways... It'd be best, of course, if these were specific to the port and not just one static image, too. Not sure if that was intended, I'm sure it goes without saying anyways.
  2. I'm very busy at the moment admittedly, but I haven't played in at least a couple weeks for this reason. Basically there's just too little joy to it; details in the environment, about your ship, etc. I'd like, for instance, to feel more like I'm aboard the ship rather than the ship. Beating and getting beaten by strangers is a bit taxing without the 1,000 little things that make your day interesting.
  3. This is a big one. Vary the server maintenance times. I realize you have only so many devs and all, huge fan of your efforts; but somehow I only feel the need to sail (or have the freedom) at that one hour of the goddamn day.
  4. Different cameras/officer views, at least in map. I loved the deck on my feet on the basic ships, would love to see a Foredeck, crow's nest, Aft, captain or helmsman's view. There's probably a bored programmer out there that'd do Cabin views for you guys.
  5. My asshat little brother wouldn't rinse out his cereal bowl when we had the house for the weekends growing up. So of course I waited till the last moment every time to do dishes Sunday, and had to scrape dried on honey bunches of oats of his goddamned bowl. This defines the gap between generations perfectly. Thank you. Get well.
  6. Is it possible to take wind from an opponent's sails? Is that just too much calculating wind strength, position, and vector?
  7. I'll never forget the first time I walked into a craft store and asked about kits for ships, there were 2 guys working and the one I talked to spent all his time talking up his own efforts, basically insulting me, saying most people can't do one or never finish their first and I'm so young and all, successfully talking me out of buying a damn thing as the other guy watched in horror, agape as I walked out the door. I was pissed for about ten seconds until I realized this guy guards his hobby vehemently because it is absolutely the only thing he does and all he thinks that makes him a person. That was before the internet.
  8. The Action of 6 May, 1801 Hands down. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_of_6_May_1801 The enormous disparity of strength resulting in such an incredible disparity of casualties; Spanish losses exceeded the entire compliment of Cochrane's crew. 14 killed and 41 wounded of a crew of 319 men defeated by a crew of 54, with 3 killed and 9 wounded. The added insult: when the Spanish second in command asks for a letter stating he did not surrender immediately, but was defeated justly Cochrane provides one; with the wording "conducted himself like a true Spaniard."
  9. Visible birds? The bird noise when near land is an INDISPENSABLE navigational tool, but actually seeing gulls and terns would be nice.
  10. I'd recommend looking into the way models were built before kits, by carpenters and prisoners of war. The prisoners would use bones, hair, and some of it is art. It's difficult, but I've tried a couple, my grandpa is the expert. It's easy to buy and find balsa planking, dowels, and if you're careful with the scale plenty of accesories, blocks, cannon... But you'll need the tools too, a nice dremel, blades, clamps. I made a nice clinker-built single deck that broke up in a storm, moving to a new house a few years back. EDIT: I never have, and do not recommend trying to use bones and hair and crap, that sounded strange after I read it.
  11. Stars primarily, but even just a position on the map, of varying size and/or accuracy, based upon the purchase/quality of instruments such as davis quadrant, astrolabe, sextant, wind-up watch or just a fancy compass. How about a quality navigator as a hired crew officer?
  12. Just this: darker nights. Moonlit nights with brighter stars. Accurate stars and phases may be pushing it... But damn, this game has merit, potential, and momentum now. No competitors at all.
