  1. Pretty sure all the new french named pirates I'm seeing isn't a coincidence. It's one hell of a lot more than "3" new pvp French converts. Additionally all your fighting in the south at Perdenales is the younger less organized pirate groups. Whom seriously lack a good fleet commander. CF/I/OMG don't really have a reason to come take it from you. In the mean time we'll just take your rare resource production ports that apparently aren't being used by the French. Thank you french! I was in dire need of more Iron, Oak and Hemp.
  2. I feel sorry for the French. Slamz is the most delusional person on this server and he is on your side. Power projection is what wins these types of MMOs. Just look at GoonSwarm in EVE. Sure your little lowsec style fighting is annoying for like 2 seconds. Then your past it and no one cares anymore. But just like goonswarm did. We have grown exponentially in power since our victories began. When Port Louis and Saint Francios fell we had like 14 cerbs. Now we don't even let surprises in the battle and have enough to field multiple port battles easy. Yet the only thing that comes out of your mouth is stupidity. "I wonder how many pirates have quit for want of something to do" LOL. here i'll answer that... NONE. You also brag about killing a few BSO guys. Which by all accounts are one of the smaller lower ranked pirate clans. So its one of the few you can actually outgun. Just come up to camp du roy and see how long you last. See you tonight if you actually have some balls.
  3. At least i don't see any deniers like Slamz saying it wasn't a complete and total pirate victory.
  4. Hey I'm perfectly fine with no pvp in my pve hunting grounds. Safety allows for more risk. Which yields greater rewards. 4k till Demon and my 3rd rate!
  5. That is where Slamz got it wrong. All the pvp one could want is just a teleport away. 3h later you can return. No muss no fuss. In fact a substantial number of our guys do that almost daily to various freeports. If they removed the teleport like they should then Slamz would have been correct. As it stands your dead wrong.
  6. I think you forget why people go pirate... we thrive on this crap. I can't think of a single person who joined pirates because they hated trolling, pvp or political drama. All we needed was an excuse. Slamz & the French gave us that. If you wanted to 1 up the pirates. The best thing you could of done is kept your mouth shut. We'd of gotten bored and moved on long before now. seriously listening to our TS during these past few weeks has been like listening to a pack of hyenas going in for the kill.
  7. If you want this go to PVE servers. Almost everyone i know ignore 7th rate ships because it takes to damn long to hunt them down for practically no reward. Also the teleport system is currently being abused badly. adding to this abuse is a terrible idea. Additionally, if you want pirates to really be pirates in the future instead of a nation state. Teleporting should be removed entirely. As it stands today. You just send items via the mail or teleport your trade ships around. Teleporting itself was a concession to the casuals. It should be removed to maintain a healthy ecosystem.
  8. I'm curious why you think you're having an affect on the pirates Slamz? I haven't seen a french in something larger than a pickle in since Friday night. I'm sure you might be having a greater effect in the bay to the southeast. Though those pirates were always behind the camp du roy pirates. When it comes to experience. Even if a map reset is coming it wont be happening anytime real soon. The development cycle is to long on these things and the game has barely been out a month. Sure it'll be reset eventually but not anytime soon. In the mean time we can't play like it'll happen tomorrow so who cares. We have to live our lives like we have a future. That's the same principle you should take with crafting. We all know it'll be reset but if we stop building... none of us get ships in the meantime.
  9. Probably didn't count Marne. He wasn't in any of the battles. I talked to him today and he didnt even know what was going on.
  10. Yes, we'll done. We pirates appreciate the xp you gave us. nom nom nom
  11. Honestly, the first south eastern pirates (myself included in this). Just wanted to leave for deeper waters. A pilgrimage into the unknown if you will. When you looked at the map at the time. Aves and Le Moule offered the most remote and underdog position. This shouldn't be misconstrued as running from the US, since this game promotes a group to strike out on their own. FYI, this same mentality is why the small British force is in the South East. Due to our early successes we were quickly joined by a couple of other deep water clans. Which has only expanded our success and caused a massive migration. Timeline of events. CF was first in the area and recruited enough to take a few ports resulting port Louis and Saint Francios being taken solo. Invictus and OMG showed up and bolstered our numbers. Mostly cause they were looking for a more organized group. Resulting in Deshaies, Basse-terre, Ter de bas falling quickly there after At this point we started receiving our first requests for aid from other pirates attempting to do the same thing. Specifically FC in the cano maco area. whom bartered CF's support by assisting with picket forces for the last few port battles. The next night we took point de petre, grand anse, and flowed south to roslay and roseau. At that point we started receiving requests for aid from various entities. one of these was SIN. Which inevitably resulted in the situation you see today. With pirates moving into the far south eastern region. Though this group is technically separate from the original Invictus/OMG/CF agreements. So while you're correct that this game is full of factions within factions. The unorganized groups are going to have a much harder time taking anything without the major power groups involved. Also unlike other nations Pirates CAN enforce order through power if they decide to within their own areas of operation. Though at the same time the shear distance involved offers substantial security from the other major power blocks. Mostly due to travel time. The simple fact is that if the US or Brit decide to move into the east with enough power to matter. It'll open substantial risks in their rear area that the other would exploit. Specifically because capitals cannot be taken. Giving us a permanent base to strike at their unprotected rears in that event.
  12. I can't deny you have a point. That said we didn't turn down the deal. Slamz did. Though you have to build trust. which we don't have with the French. Yall had been hedging for days and its obvious you wanted to back stab us at the earliest opportunity. @Bach Our production base is in a free port. No one can touch it. Additionally we don't have to teleport anywhere. So i dont really understand what you mean by a teleport economy? Why does everyone think your capital is required as a production base? honestly, it boggles my mind. Secondly its incredibly easy to cap a trade ship and send a combat ship to any outpost you own... instant force projection. Also MT is in the perfect place for guerrilla tactics, but terrible as the heart of a nation. So since it can't be captured. We'll just send ships there as the US moves east and play tag with their ports. Easy frustration for the US or brits. As to why the US can't attack the east without going through the brits. They have no ports anywhere near here and cannot get flags. Getting out of the way helps us all by resulting in conflict between the 2 largest nations.
  13. lol you are the funnest person on this forum. You stated in one of the design threads you wanted pvp to have a cost to it. To force players to pve for gold to fund it. That way piracy and anti-economy tactics would have an impact. Seriously stop being 2 faced with your views. Plus the only person who even uses the word "bored" in this game is you. Maybe you should just quit already. We'd all be better off without you around to pull the Hillary Clinton act.
  14. It works for us either way. If we crush the french down to a single port most will either turn pirate or go to the gulf. The remainder wont have enough strength to hurt us. In either case its win win for us. Since most of your players will still be fighting the US or Brits. As of this moment the Dutch, Danes and Sweds are much better allies than the french. Human nature will override your little self righteous we'll plink at you for eternity speech.
  15. Just going to lay this little tidbit here for you... You can take the towers without losing a single ship. Just have your people angle their ships to cause bounces. roughly 20 degrees. Then don't repair until the tower is down. if you repair while the tower is still shooting you. it'll take the armor off again and you'll sink. Even if those larger ships had got into brawl range you should of been able to sink them or cause them to chase by sailing past. You should then stay bunched and use their lack of guns against them. Remember it takes a long time to reload a 3rd rate.
  16. Wow Slamz your ability to delude yourself is astounding. That comment references what you are ALL saying. That you'll end up with a single capital port and that is it. If you don't want that to happen then fight. Cause the simple fact is to win a defense all you need is half a fleet. What i also find funny is that you have this romanticized view of how Pirates should be and not how they are in reality. Wake up and smell the roses. 1. Shallow water ports are useless to anyone who sails a Cerb or better. 2. Pirates are currently implemented as a nation state. 3. Racial traits are not in the game. Therefore true underdog fighting reliant on captures (a pirates bread in butter when no economy exists) cannot occur. 4. strategically being sandwiched between 2 superior size forces in water no one wants is stupid. Not smart as you seem to want to imply. 5. Positioning your base of operations outside of enemy strike range is strategically sound. 6. If the US or Brits attempt to overextend their resources past Mortimers town and head to the east. It creates an opportunity in their rear. Therefore it becomes strategically impossible to squeeze the pirates completely out. Whereas if we had not moved east. we'd be in the same exact position the Eastern French are now. Since both Le Moule and Aves would be French and/or Dutch/Swedish by now. The pirates are becoming stronger with a much better strategic positioning for longer term warfare against the US and Brits precisely because we moved East. Calling our leadership stupid just because you aren't getting your way. Doesn't change the fact that we're in a much better position now than ever before. Though it would help if we had strategic alliances with our neighbors. Since we'll need to pass through their waters to hit the British. IF we don't have that. It'll just take longer before we're able to bring the fight back to the brits and US. Though i would like to see changes in how pirates are implemented precisely because Pirates should be the random element in national wars. I'm not sure how that will happen but right now we're a nation. Albeit a nation with significant disadvantages compared to a full nation state. So feel free to bitch and moan about this fact, but we aren't going away. Also as a historical side note... The reason the pirates were in the Bahamas in the first place was because no one gave a rats ass about it. It has no economic value. They also couldn't get a larger naval vessel into the area to maintain order. When they finally did move in and wipe out the pirates it didn't take much. Pirates were a sorry bunch, but for this game they need to be a fairly powerful entity.
  17. I'll concede the southeast wasn't a priority until additional pirate units made the pilgrimage. It has become so now... Themz the breaks. I'll even concede that there is risk of longer term stagnation, but that isn't a threat yet. France/GB/Dutch/Sweds/Danish are still in the area. Plus teleportation is always an option for a day of murder and plunder. CF doesn't have any vested interest in the southeast. We're there to assist because we were asked and it's nice to have friendlies near by. Camp Du Roy is our home however. That wont change. In classic French style. Ya'll are acting like your already defeated. If thats the case just roll over and stop putting up a fight and get it over with already.
  18. Incorrect 2 towers did go down at kingstown. After the first tower we received an order to turn and fight the 3-4 french to the rear. Which put us in bad wind. Then dicked around with the wind for 15 minutes before i got fed up with it and demanded a dive to the middle. At which point people focused more on the ships than the towers. Otherwise we could of finished off the 3rd as we passed and if the pirates had stayed closer to 4. It would of died as well. Instead we allowed ourselves to be pushed away from 4 never to return. In either case not staying on course and allowing the wind to shift caused a loss.
  19. That is the same mistake that occur'd during the kingsport battle. Oh well the southern boys were there to learn that lesson then.
  20. I'm being 100% honest here. Very few of the pirates had any interest in the 2-3 islands around Fort Royal. I really wish we could of come up with a deal that mattered. The simple truth is SIN/FC/BSO wanted the south east along the South American coast. So we couldn't hand you that. Nor would we drive the British out for you and hand the ports over to you. Why do that when we have the power to take it in the first place? Additionally if we'd taken land from the Dutch. It would of been out of reach of realistic support range from Camp Du Roy. Whereas the land in the southeast is not. While I admit the deal wasn't ideal for the French. Why should we offer better considering we don't care about the US/Bahamas and we outgun you? The stronger nation naturally dictates terms. Instead we're going to have to grind the french into dust in the south east. A real shame since I have a lot of respect for Purge's skills slamz. You're just a terrible troll. Or at least the Pirates perceive you as such and are currently choosing to kill you on sight. Regardless of zerg tactics or not. You keep claiming we'll just steamroll the Dutch. Which is patently not true. Think of this in realistic terms. People are Pirates because they want the element of being attacked anywhere at anytime. Though we also need a stable base of operations in order to build ships and make money (pirates are a nation under the current mechanics). Therefore once a nest of ports to base from are created we need a place to roam. The Dutch offer that opportunity. If we take their ports away. The PVP would dry up. Additionally if you talk grand strategy the Dutch are a buffer against the much larger threat posed by the main British front. Which is also why the pirates would prefer to not grind the Dutch into dust. We need both Dutch and French ships in the area for random PVP. You can hate us all you want for being larger, stronger and smarter. We pee'd in your cheerios and ruined your expansion plans. So sad. Get over it and either get with the dynamic or be squeezed out into freeports. Maybe the devs will transfer your capital for you like they are for the Spanish on PVP1.
  21. The first point I would like to correct is... Slamz was sunk multiple times last night. I'd also like to correct Slamz ignorant views on what pirates should hold. The Bahamas hold nothing of value really. Though Haiti does offer something its to spread out to defend. They also contain a lot of shallow water ports that no one really cares about. Meaning if you want to sail bigger ships you must leave the Bahamas area. There is a reason the pirates currently outgun the French in the south east. We're all in deep water ships. Mostly we're interested in a stable home we can launch pvp fleets from for fun. There isn't a need to "rule the world." That is an affliction that you seem to suffer from. Which is why if you had taken the deal you were offered Slamz. We'd have honored it. Instead you spit on us and made demands your nation/clan can't back up. Feel free to continue spewing the bile and hate for pirates. We'll just prove our right to hold what we have on the field of battle. I'll see you in battle and you wont win. Enjoy finally having a valid reason to run.
  22. @ Michel De Toulouse I think you misinterpreted what i meant. 18E had the larger ships on the french side. Purge was mostly in cerbs. In total you were out gunned by the pirates by about 1/3. Due to mistakes by the pirates you carried the day. Like i said you fought well over all. Though we wont make the same mistakes in the future. in the end half your fleet sank and slightly more than half of ours did. mostly due to an hour and a half of tower damage. It was fairly even at the end except for the 2 towers.
  23. Lol you guys make me giggle. Good propaganda post anyway. Since it's an after action report. I feel as if i can comment. Kingstown was a last minute decision and lacked a lot of our best fighters and no picket force. It also had a green Fleet Commander (FC). A lot of fun fighting occur'd so my hats off to the French as the battle was well fought. Though 18E was terrible and sank quickly despite the larger ships; which is typical of them. PURGE represented the French well. For Naprima you were outmaneuvered completely. Accept it and move on. For the 2 shallow port battles. One flag DC'd (bad flag carrier ISP) and the explosion was a nice touch to get into the pirate fleet. I wasn't there but the after action report was hilarious. Thanks for the Lawls.
  24. Concerning the crafting changes. I like the fact that you intend for people to work together. 5 people seems like a good number. The problem that i have with it is that it might require all 5 to login every day. There needs to be a system that allows for several days of accrual without penalties to the group as a whole. Either that or a method for the "group" to assist one another in their absence without jeopardizing the output of the group as a whole. Or requiring they share login information, which is a security risk. For example currently several people in my clan are working together to ensure our ship builders have several days worth of parts. Under the new plan to maximize efficiency each person would effectively be in charge of 1 aspect of the production environment. If a single cog jams the whole machine stops. Allowing for several days head start on parts/mineral creation could alleviate this problem and allow for communication/organization to occur. Forethought and planning also allows for more group play (pew pew) time verse spending time chasing parts across multiple ports. Promote this and you'll create a successful crafting system. It's a great idea for an MMO to invest in community building. Where people must work together to achieve a desired result. It's what keeps these games going long term. It's not ok to ignore "life" and not have methods to compensate. I would also like to hear about how this would affect Pirates in more detail. The forums are full of people requesting that pirates not be allowed to take ports. Pirates are already at a trade disadvantage. Implementing anything short of a full nation state for Pirates with this system would effectively cripple their war making ability.
