  1. Trust me buddy, you don't want me to post the full version of the video I just posted because you took a beating. I posted the screenshot at the start of the vid to show this, which btw at the start you had 200 crew. I will post the video of your two click so called 'out sailing' which I've just re-watched. You were running the whole time and dropped sails when I was stern camping you. I ran into your rear. You got boarding. There was no out sailing, just a lucky 2 click boarding win due to me being un-prepped. Not a single cannon ball fired. The only credit I can give you is that I didn't expect you to drop sails, so I made a mistake there. I'll also say, both me and Black Chops were exceptionally drunk that evening . We got cocky, you got lucky, nothing more, nothing less. It's ok that you won the boarding mini game, just stop trying to pretend it was some amazing battle were you out-sailed us. The irony here is I had totally forgotten about our previous encounter shown in the video. Just came across you when looking through some of my vids of the many people I've robbed.
  2. Still bragging? Ok, I'll join in. One from my collection. Btw, I've never had gold marines. Also, it's with regret that I must withdraw this bounty. I've not played in some time and no real plans to return for now. Maybe if I get that itch, and once they come up with a solution to punishing solo / small ship pirates.
  3. LOL are you seriously bragging about this dude? If I made a brag post every time I capped a ship that had less crew than me, I'd be banned for spamming. The reason I don't is because I cap at least 4 in any particular gaming session. No need to post or brag about them because it's far too easy with current boarding mechanics. So you won the 2 click boarding battle against an un-prepped ship with lesser crew. "slow hand clap" I salute your skill in battle. Only I have no idea your skill in actual battle because, there was no battle. Lets not over play this and pretend it was something that it was not. There was no skilled exchange here. No test of skill vs the other. In fact, I don't recall you firing a single shot. Brag when your end of battle screen shows you sunk me in a ship comparable with the ship I'm in. I can assure you, you will not get one of those. Ship boarding, marines vs marines with crew = + is usually a foregone conclusion. Don't know why you felt the need to brag post. Guess I must be infamous So bloody - Bounty: 6 Mill on Caroline Vodka just for shits and giggles (and because I can), and because NO ONE puts a bounty on the [bLACK] and gets away with it lightly. 1 mill per kill, valid for 6 kills. Not valid to [bLACK] Members. Must be 1v1 legitimate kill. Payment will be made ONLY if it's legitimate and not fake kill to claim the large bounty. Community here will determine if it's legit kill or fake. Let the games begin! If I kill / board him myself, 1x will be deducted from the count.
  4. Yep, sorry when I said BAAAD, I didn't mean the AI mechanics were bad, though they were, they ware bad in the sense that they turned a PVP fight into a long drawn out PVP/PVE fight, and I'm only interested in battling other players. I did after all join a PVP server. In terms of privateer and pirating, you had first to deal with the player ship, then spend another 20-30 mins dealing with the annoying AI. Not being a drama queen, but I know if this type of situation returns, I for one will drift away from the game. When they got rid of AI reinforcements the last time, it was a day to rejoice. The thought of returning to those dark times doesn't enthuse me!
  5. It's this that worries me the most. AI fleets were BAAAAD. SUPER BAAAAD!
  6. I know how I play the game. I know how me clannies play the game. Convenience & fun is sometimes more important than realism. More true in a game that spans a vast distance and moving assets can be very time consuming.
  7. Ach! Really not sure about all this. I just want to go out (and I can confirm the guys in my clan are of same mind) fight, return. Just seems to be another obstical to PVP, add to this crew management, Ach!
  8. I've lost 4 dura in this game (excluding basic cutter noob days). The last one was day one of the new leak mechanic and someone forgot to read the patch notes I'd just been bragging that night how I'd only lost 3 dura TBH, it was frustrating, but I don't mind it. Just means you got to keep an aye on things and make escape before leaks get too crazy.
  9. It's a fair point. No one can now claim the ability to attack each other is a pirate exclusive mechanic. Switching to smuggler effectively gives a non pirate the exact same ability so no one should be bringing this up any more as an unfair pirate 'perk'.
  10. If you enter enemy port in a combat vessel with smuggler flag, you are unable to undock. You can only undock if you are in a merchant ship.
  11. Back OT, devs, I hope you see from feedback that the majority don't want these proposed barriers to PVP. We want PVP, and the ability to get back into the fight as quickly as possible. Right now we all fight on the same playing field. We are either at the positive side of instant recrew or the negative. Doesn't matter which side you are on, it works both ways. We do NOT want to have to sail back to the nearest free port before we are effective in PVP again. This is just an unwanted time sink. Please rethink this.
  12. 1. Powerful mechanics indeed. Since devs have already gone on record stating pirateVpirate didn't work out as intended, they should simply remove it. 2. Powerful mechanics indeed. they should simply remove it.
  13. And the fact PM's carry over when you log out, messages should have a time stamp. Again, something I think would be super easy to implement.
  14. +200 I've been crying out for this for months! Weird thing is, it's probably super easy to implement. Can't understand why it's not in already.
  15. It's not the same mate. There's a circle that prevents proper OW tactics, and you are sure to be up against 3x basic cutters if you go in anything larger yourself. It's not the same as catching or being caught in open world.
  16. Tis a good point. Any MMO I've ever played, clan activity has plummeted during summer. We saw numbers fall sharply after leakgate, and nocapgate. Hopefully the devs will take heed of the overwhelming lack of support for crewgate and steer a different course.
  17. I am not looking forward to this 'feature'. AI fleets were a pain, and became a frustration in PVP. Was bad enough when they were 2x cutter, now it seems they can be bigger ships. The inability to send ships to outposts seems like a counter step to the new TP system, but I suppose this could also have benefits in preventing the almost instant defensive fleets we encounter in enemy waters. Would have to see how this works but ultimately I think it will degrade PVP. Anything that forces you to return to port between battles is a move in the wrong direction in my opinion and will simply add to frustration, particularly if a fleet is in enemy waters and is forced to seek out a free port (which could be large distance) before he can enter another battle at full strength. If you are going to do this, then you'd be as well taking out repair kits also, or make repairing at sea take time. I thought the point of repair kits was to allow the player to get back into the fray quickly.
  18. Clearly you've bit read all of my posts. I have agreed that some people here are contributing and coming up with ideas that are aimed at 'improving' pirates or making them unique without making them weaker than other nations. Sadly, these threads also bring in the nerf brigade suggesting ridiculous things like having pirates lose all their assets upon sinking / capturing, or restricting us to small / weak ships that would stand no chance in PVP. As to protecting unnaturally easy pirate perks, I've no idea what you mean. Isn't the argument here that pirates are the same as all other nations? What perks be these? Finally, regarding your comments regarding the realistic nature of pirates owning the majority of the Caribbean. Are you forgetting that this is a sandbox MMO where historical shenanigans are irrelevant? What would your argument be if suddenly the Dutch managed to cap the Caribbean? Are you suggesting game restrictions to prevent nations capping certain ports so the map reflects real history?
  19. Captiva, I do appreciate there are some folks, like you who genuinely want something 'good' for pirate gameplay. You've argued your point well, and I accept it. Problem is there's so many others who just want to see pirates become weak because they don't like how strong pirates have become. It's very hard to separate the you's, from the them's. Just take the 'suggestion' from the guy in this thread who thinks pirate assests and gold should be wiped upon sinking or capture as an example! I am on your side. Whilst I may seem defensive regarding changes to pirates, I'm only defensive towards those who seek to nerf pirates into a weak faction they can faceroll in single combat, and grin with glee when one of them *dares* attack them in their underpowered, rate restricted vessel. I too would like to see pirates become unique and more 'piratey'. I don't want bonuses that make us over powered, but equally, I don't want restrictions that make us under powered and easily defeated simply because enemy is able to field larger more powerful ships against our 'frigates'. In a PVP game, no one likes to PVP against players with 'better gear', and I worry that by restricting pirates, we'll effectively be reduced to 'green gear' vs 'pvp geared' opponents. Whilst robbing ships is my main pursuit in this game, I also like to PVP mano a mano, or fleet vs fleet. If some people had their way, we'd be sailing privateers against santis. NA is after all a PVP game. That's why I play it. Edit: In so many MMO's I've played, winning in PVP has come down to gear. The MAIN thing I like about NA, is that mostly it comes down to skill.
  20. The ability to become a pirate without penalty is, I agree, a flawed mechanic and the root of many problems, however, your issue isn't with the fact pirates are another nation, it's the fact that this one mechanic has allowed our numbers to swell and dominate (which to be fair is speculation at best since we have no actual numbers). Pirates were more than just a nuisance, they were a real threat, but I'm flogging a dead horse. History / realism has been thrashed around in these posts to exhaustion, and even though the counter argument to every Lord Nelson has been that all other nations are FAR from historically accurate, it still continues to be the backbone to most arguments levied against the pirates. I repeat myself. I have no problems with people coming up with ideas about separate pirate mechanics to make pirates unique, fun, challenging and enjoyable, but the majority of what I read is people wanting restrictions on pirates that will ultimately make the role unplayable, unenjoyable, and completely unbalanced.
  21. Head to the USA east coast, Sunbury, and go rob some traders for a couple of hours. Come back and tell me it wasn't challenging.
  22. Sadly I don't see much evidence of that. I do see the odd post that talks about bonuses to pirate, but most talk about restrictions. Roleplay of pirate is something the individual does, not the game mechanics. I chip in on these threads when ironically most of these nerfs would not have that much of an impact on me as I like many others in my clan roleplay pirate. Smaller ships, hunting merchants. Unfortunately though, when we do that, within 20 minutes we have a lot of players in 2nd, 3rd and 4th rates camping our battles, a situation exacerbated by instant teleport. Only a few nights ago, me and Pagan Pete attacked a merchant on the east coast and we had *13* players waiting outside the battle for us when we emerged. My point is playing 'pirate' in the traditional sense is already challenging without restrictions and nerfs. If people are so desperate for a change to pirate mechanics, then they need to start thinking of mechanics that will make the faction playable, fun, and balanced instead of coming up with all these nerfs that would effectively make playing a pirate far too difficult for anyone to enjoy.
  23. I don't have a problem with people coming up with sound ideas, but sadly the majority of what I read from non pirates is nerf nerf nerf. Pirates should not Pirates should be restricted When a pirate is captured or sunk, his account is sunk. ((LOL)) No Port Battles Crew number restrictions Nerf Nerf Nerf My favorite is restricting pirates to frigates, knowing full well that the majority of PVP clans sail in numbers with much larger and more powerful ships. To note, as usual, 90% if the posters here are not pirates, have never played pirate and have zero empathy with people who are / do. Basically when I read these ideas, I realise that most of you DO wan't pirates in the game, but you want to make them so weak you can swat them off like flies.
  24. Blueprints need to be put back to how they were so new crafters don't have to compete with no blueprints vs the guys who got all the blueprints when they were falling of trees and trade-able.
