  1. In 200 years there'll be a 5 star hotel complex and marina, lets wait here until then
  2. Days had passed and the maelstrom had dragged our aged Brig far off course with no way to know by what degree or direction. Continuously tossed and rocked on waves higher than the gunwales. Steel grey clouds so burdened they had been dragged down from the heaven to rest upon the steel grey sea and cut visibility to only a few yardarms in all ways we could see. Bursting full of torrential rain which poured onto the decks making the wood sleek and slippery underfoot. We had a hull full of our entire worth that was needed in dock and before any other trader and this would make us a fortune we dreamed and now feared we would die for. Sinister shapes and shadows, harshly lit with every distant lightning flash, forever moving in the heavy mist all around. Fear, fear, bone shaking fear that one phantom would break the veil bearing 'The Black', and then all'd be gone and done. Then a glimpse and hope, in the glow of the distant struggling sun a silhouette of land and the familiar towers of a port. Hurrah, hurrah we've been saved this day.
  3. Admiralty store. New currency will be added and will be granted for PvP victories and successful port attack or defense. In its basic implementation players will be able to use this currency to buy rare materials and upgrades. Yeah this works perfectly on the PvE server, again we are a 2nd thought
  4. Hi, Please see photos for conversation, some overlap maybe present First I admit I was some part provoking the player calling him a d**K head and making a remark about marrying cousins as you can see he responded with a personal threat to rape and rip me a new arse. I think that is too strong a response. I accept any punishment I deserve but wish this to go to the tribunal Lisa-Azra
  5. What about the countless crafters that have shipyards in free ports. If they loose their holdings how many more players will leave the game?
  6. I have gone to enemy waters for some PvP fun and had battles with me in a Surprise facing an entire navy with 3rds and Conis. Puts me off from doing it again. Being gangbanged is not fun and what does it say for the nation that does that?
  7. Yeah lots of responses, thirty odd pages of them with a lot of complaints about NPC capturing and ganking restrictions. I got to about page 10 and gave up, I guess the developers will do the same. hence writing on this branch of the forum. Land in battle, looks pretty but has little realism on open world. After battle I sailed to the coast and came out of battle to find myself back at the battle start. I rammed a ship side on and drove him into the shallows and he sailed away as if nothing had happened. NPC ships, I would like to capture one because now they are super ships, they have bigger guns but still sail faster than me, turn faster, never have to send as single shot out to find the distance, always have sailors ready for boarding without effecting gunnery or sailing, (BTW my ship is fully pimped with gold and blue upgrades) and this one the new trend can fire single shots, all with 100% accuracy almost as quick as I can fire a broadside. When I try to rapidly fire single shots it does not work. Why? because there is a delay between each space bar press, please do something about this bias. Also can fire a broadside then fire individual cannons as they load while if I fire a broadside all my cannons must load before I can fire them again. Ship upgrades will become obsolete. With the changes that make losing your ship easier who in their right mind is going to put high end upgrades on them especially permanent ones. It is madness to put them on rank 1 ships which have 1 durability unless you have five silver mines to make the upgrades. Upgrades should not be crafting note reliant but time and resource dependant, a basic takes low amount of time and resource and as you increase the quality they take more labour hours and materials to make. My last observation. Have the developers lived or been to the Caribbean? It is by the equator this means the sun rises and sets at almost the same time everyday at that is around 6am and 6pm, not 2 am and 9pm. Realism should cover everything. Moonless nights at sea are a lot darker, making nights much darker would increase challenge of evening battles. My very last point, I am not very good at this game. I have noticed it getting harder and harder to meet the needs on the current players, all experienced. How will a new player find the game in terms of achieving positive results without suffering too many negatives? Lisa Swims With Sharks
  8. really? You expect me to waste 2 hours of my playtime sailing from home waters to enemy waters have one battle get sunk then sent back to the nearest friendly port and sail another 2 hours to fight again. You really think that will work? Lisa Swims With Sharks
  9. PvP3 Eu 2 server is dead in regards of a PvP server. A fall from over 1,000 players at the start of the year to 140, the figures say it all. Not gong into the whys or wherefores just what can be done. 1) stay the same and lose the last remaining 2) Me to transfer to another server. Not really an option as I keep xp but loose everything else. Cannot regain my boat as Post Captain missions are too hard for a starting cutter 3) Merge servers but this causes logistic problems with contended ports and maybe some people like being on a low populated server and able to moor outside the French capital in a British boat and not see a single enemy, I did for a time but not any more Possible option, allow a player to transfer with xp and gold, at least I can buy a port ship of appropriate level and play then. Better, some way I could bring my ship with an empty hold to stop resources being transferred from one server to another Lisa - Swims With Sharks
  10. Hi Galileus, Thanks for the reply. I did think the same but loggin into that server the player name on the PVP1 has all my current stats, rank and crafting xp. I am worried that if I delete that name I will delete my profile on all servers
  11. Hi, I play on the EU 2 server with a certain name. Due to falling numbers I looked at joining another server, both the PvE and PvP 2 servers (US) allow me to enter with my same name but when I try to get on the EU PvP 1 server it logs me in with my steam name, why?
  12. Yes I use this for other games, it is great and simple to write operating conditions for it. I have noticed it does tend to interfere with text typing. Although this application with voice acting can greatly enhance immersion in a game it does have one more noble application. It allows access to games to severely disabled people. Linked with eye/head monitoring software and soon VR a paraplegic person could play this game. Think what effect that could have on someone's quality of life? At the moment this game is not so adaptable due to the limited number of key-mapped commands and I have already made a forum suggestion to expand them and separate rotating commands with single key presses, (sails [w], targeting [r] and fire method [v]). I see from the responses you are already working on that which is fantastic, help from the development team would be a bonus. Thanks to Shaved Alpaca for starting this and everyone who is getting involved Lisa Swims with Sharks
  13. Hi Walrus, Thanks for the hard work with the diagrams. I don't know if it is just me but I have not been able to manual sail any fore and aft mast vessel. I have tried all sail combinations and wind direction for both the pickle and privateer and with different sail combination and none cause either of the ships to change direction. Has anyone else been able to manual sail pickles or privateer/lynx? LA
  14. I thought they were a 'booby' prize. Yes, you fought well and you deserve a reward and tonight you get...................... a ship's letter hahahaha better luck next time I leave them on the wreck and watch them sink to the depths with such glee.
  15. An expanded keymapping, things like specific keys for full sail, half sail etc, also perhaps half rudder along with the current full rudder and expanding the [v] and [r] buttons to specific keys. The quick keys can still be used but this way the game controls can be easily connected to voice command programs which will then allow disabled people access to the game. There are eye direction software but VR compatible would be great for everyone including disabled
  16. I am female. Yes FEMALE. I have been told by a player from my nation that I am not and that I am lying because this is not a game females play. I do play (and complain a lot (in a constructive way)) and I am female. Just shows what he knows. It seems trivial writing this but hey why can't females want to play this game? I sail, small dinghies, nothing special, recreational mainly and one or two races so I like this game for the sailing aspect. I don't know if there any other female players or even transgendered players sailing around in this game. I hope so. As such I would like to draw to the attention of the forum and game moderators, you have missed us out. In your rules of conduct for chat and forum you mention discrimination against, race, religion, sexual orientation but no gender. An simple unintentional overlook I am sure. Can we put it in please, Thank you.
  17. So let me get this right. If Initiate a fight with an NPC ship from another nation and drag in a player from my nation and I ignore the enemy ship and stick broadside after broadside into the player from my nation. I do not get classed as a pirate by the game but I get sent to the tribunal. Is that correct? I am sent to the tribunal for what charge? Not playing fare? Piracy? Murder? What is my sentence? What if my whole purpose of initiating a battle with an enemy NPC was to drag the other player into battle so I could put broadside after broadside into his trader ship and sink him. What if that player was a competitor in business, coming down to steal resources and sell at exaggerated prices at the capital. Business is all about not playing fare and I just see it as removing the competition. My uncles in Sicilia have been doing exactly that all their lives, why break family traditions? Also, if I initiate a fight with a foreign NPC and drag in a NPC ship of my own Nation and I stick broadside after broadside into my country's NPC. I get negative XP so I can fight, earn and have the ability of always remaining at 2nd Lieutenant rank, always have access to replaceable fleet ships, and like my uncles say the more hands to scrub the easier it is to rid your landscape of the stains that bother your business. Ciao ciao amici Beware where you do business, unless it is with me of course
  18. Great a step towards crew management. Can we control the number of crew we shift from sailing to repairs or gunnery or will it be fixed as now with just all available going to survival or boarding? What about upgrades such as marines and boarding parties would these additional crew be added to the penalty system? Nice to see the lynx will have massive benefit. Manual control of deck guns during boarding. This really is the big error in the game as no account is taken with the difference in gun deck height between ships. If I attack a high single gun deck ship such as Cerberus with a low deck ship like a lynx at a certain point if I closed on the Cerberus there would not be able to elevate the rear of the cannon high enough to fire on the decks of a close proximity low deck ship especially if they are long cannons. This factor is not incorporated in the game and certainly would play a part in boarding as would a low deck ship requiring ladders and boarding tackle to attack a high deck ship. The rest, well read the responses, players do not seem very happy with the development progress of the game
  19. Thank you for further comments on this matter, I appreciate your opinions. I have been told several times in this discussion and in other discussions I have raised this game is a pvp. This game is NOT sold as a pvp game. check the steam sales description ( http://store.steampowered.com/app/311310 ) The game is described as an open world sandbox game which means go anywhere and play on your own or with friends. But you all say I must play in teams and against other players. You like that I am very happy for you but I am asking for the developers to live up on their description and it is not only me. Don't believe me, think land in battles is way better and more popular, look at the poll http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/7978-development-plans-prioritization-proposals-and-feedback/ You can see three major game management proposals including mission development for exploration and delivery are way ahead of 'land in battles' for what players want. And who cares? I care, all those people who have voted care, the developers should care. We are speaking but are they listening? And lastly, if you don't care then things don't get improved and isn't improvement what everyone wants? Thanks again
  20. Thank you for your comments. For Admaa congratulations that is some achievement certainly not one I will be rewarded with for this game or any other. You and I expect, many of the long term players do have high hour of play stats but one could also question how many of the steam players who no longer play have stats less the 30 hour game play? I don't know. I think this game has the framework to cater for both those who like huge battles and nothing else AND those who like variety of trading, building and exploring, and it could be done very easily and quickly. MMO like Elite Dangerous manage to do it well enough. I have no idea how many other players feel as I do but if it has been an old subject of discussion as stated then surely now is the time to develop it or will it always be swept under the carpet? When writing this reply, the pole on this forum showed more people wanted improved missions for exploration and delivery than land in battles. Being told that I should join a clan, level up as quick as possible in order to play the game, is not how it is sold on Steam. Everyone has there reasons to like this game why do they all have to be the same? If anyone thinks I have attitude I am truly sorry. Yes I have brandished shock titles and statements only to get what I have written noticed. Newspapers do it all the time. My aim has always been to highlight areas for improvement because this game is good and has so much potential for more and I wouldn't bother spending my time writing this if I didn't think so. There are voices here for the developers to hear if they want to. There is a community who can respect those views if it wishes to.
  21. Why is this a dream? Isn't this what the developers have promised and more will come?
  22. Galileus - I am not saying no to battles. Like all those people you have spoken with and have commented I also like playing in battles. What I am saying it is time for some other things and not some 'in time' . And saying the quote about me using alpha as a shield for my own agenda then repeating the game is in alpha, please. If what I have said is something you don't like then have the decency to give me something back constructive as I have provided in writing this original comment. White walker - yes I am sure nation battles are something special but if you did them and only them all the time how long will they retain their charm and originality? Wind - thank you for your comment. As for levelling up. I have actually restarted several times to avoid that, and it is my preference for doing this. Although as from yesterday I am no longer able to do this as restarting will no longer reset my xp to zero. I kind of find that fact a little oppressive. Lord Robert - I was under the impression this game has been about for around a year (I might be wrong) and little has changed and the early steam release was to get round a paypal putting a prohibit on sales (again what I have read I do not know first hand). We are all here playing alpha/early access to provide feedback and suggestions, which is what this originally is, a suggestion for developers.
  23. Why loose this aspect to the game when you reach a certain rank? You are not improving the game by doing this, diminishing it in my opinion. Mortdelo makes a good suggestion. This game needs to grow and spread its branches, if you cut them all off so it grows only up in rank then the game will slowly but surely die.
  24. I am bored. Very bored. I have been playing for two weeks only and the game has already lost its sparkle. A believe me it had a great sparkle to start with. In the two weeks I have owned this game I have clocked over 100 hours of game play. My life has been work and play Naval Action so I feel confident to give comment on this game. Please before you say it, I know this game is alpha and more content is to come. In fact an announcement from the developers came only yesterday claiming new content of land and land effects being incorporated into the battles. And there it is, this game is just battles. I hear everyday other players asking, biggest ship, quickest way to earn xp to get the biggest ship, a serious 'get rich quick' attitude to the game. Complaints about doing the 'grind' ( a laborious, monotonous repetition of the same thing to reach a desired goal) What is that task? ...... battles. People want the high ranks and the ships that go with them and when they have them, will they cherish them, lovingly coat their hulls in fresh tar everyday? No, they will blow up a few things and be unsatisfied because it is so much like the 'grind' and the ship came so easy. They turn to the only other element in the game crafting. Once a challenge because of finding resources now. All I hear is how can I increase my labor hours? Fast, fast, fast, I want to reach the top as fast as possible. When I have reached the peak, I will go do something else as there is no challenge left, no game left. All your hard work developing a beautiful game gone, sunk into the depths. This could be an EPIC game of trade, build, explore, fight on the scale of the original X-universe but it is not. It is just fight, fight, fight, fight. In history trade was the priority and fighting to protect the trade. Here in Naval Action it is fighting is the priority and trade so I can fight with something bigger. Developers, if you are reading this. You are spending massive man-hours on this 'land in battles' whose impact on the game's longevity will sadly be quite minimal. Where as, some simple low man-hour changes could have a incredible benefit to this game's enjoyment. First Missions What's today's mission? Search and destroy. What's tomorrow's mission? Search and destroy. What's next week's mission, actually don't bother. Trade missions - collect this material (mission resources always available) and deliver to this port for this amount of gold. Good for learning trade and ship control. The only mission available to new players Courier missions - take this letter to this port, do not let it fall in enemy hands. Good for fast small ships. Some possibility of attack from AI controlled ships, helps new sailors master sailing for speed and evasion Escort missions - protect this trade ship Courier intercept missions - gain enemy intel Protect trade routes Fleet action - you and friends or AI controlled ships attack enemy convoys. Search and destroy Along with building and discovery missions (see below) A progression of a variety of missions which each one can have increase difficulty to match players' xp Building I have made to date, 7 lynx ships, 3 lynx traders, 3 cutter traders, 4 cutters, I have broken 4 privateer ships, and 5 brig traders and I still do not have any dropped blue prints. I have heard blueprints for small ships are not available, only available from captured ships, why are you even bothering get a snow. Building to order - a client wants 3 cutters, build, sell. You complete you get gold, crafting xp and some labor hours (I don't know through employing more staff) to do that you need to increase your factory size. Complete an order and you keep the blueprint Orders for big ships only available to builders that match the skill and factory requirements needed to build them Exploration Every port looks the same, the map tells you where everything is and now there are no resource shortages, why leave the home port vicinity? Even way back to the days of the first Command and Conquer, maps could be obscured by a cloud which dissipates on discovery. These are new lands with a lot controlled by enemy fractions, you would not know where everything is. A player should start with only their home port and the two or three ports in closest proximity visible. Exploration mission easy - sale for x number of hours/day in a course of x heading and report back any discoveries Exploration mission medium - discover x number of new ports in a certain region Exploration mission difficult - discover the location of enemy ports and ship strength (every time a ship is clicked in open world it is recorded) in a certain region All good missions for fast ships and a good if you are planning to incorporate ship management as in consumables etc If you reply to this saying 'the game is in alpha and these are going to come', don't bother I know (or at least hope) that What I am saying is these need to be made high priority, they have a far bigger impact on the game, and they are a lot, lot easier to implement. Please loose the tunnel vision you currently have on this game's development.... there should be more to navy life than battles Please read peoples' comments to this Last week 7/2 on the European server 2 there were about 900 players, almost full capacity. This week 14/2 there were about 600.
  25. Sounds good but the little ships and trading or are they just means to an end everyone fight in one of a few big gunned ships..................BORING
