  1. I want to compliment the developers on their continued support of the game. They have really pushed pvp, and although difficult at first it really pushed me into it. Have I been sunk a lot? Of course. But now I’m sinking others as well. Beyond what is being done with this patch, which I support, I would like to see some things. -Greater variety in OW ships to capture. L’hermione, Endymion etc. -Make more ships craft able -A decrease in the speed meta game. I’m hoping the lack of chain shot does the trick by making tougher builds more useful. Closer action firing broadsides and sailing with tactics is a lot more fun that just running or chasing someone down to chain them. A captains skill should be just that. A SKILL, not just how fast his ship is. More real fighting, less kiting HUTCH78
  2. Completely agree guys. The devs have out done themselves which creates this problem. The newer Rigging looks really good and is fun to sail. Ships needing love I see? belle poule (just look at Le gros ventre) surprise The le hermione looks great. As do the Endymion and indefatigable Hope they are able to update them soon! HUTCH78
  3. I still wish I had played way back when you had to click "hail" to see what type of ship or nation it was. You didn't have to hail back. It was a gamble and could be a game in and of itself. Wish we still had it. HUTCH78
  4. I liked the old way. No protractor but we had latitude and longitude. You could make interesting sails that weren't direct and could stay away from danger if you were a trader. HUTCH78
  5. I will say the discord app is super cool. I don't need a headset just my ear plugs and iPhone and I'm chatting in game. I did think of two things thst might help the game. Stuff to think about. 1. Right now we have "books". I miss the color of the old modules so why don't the developers add color to the books? Crew modules are red, Ship turning modules green etc. It adds some color back to the interface and easily distinguishes what type of book you've found. (Not rarity) 2. Hear me out here...disable the chat in the battle instance for speaking to your opponent. Hear me out... I would bet a lot of people became turned off to PVP because it could/would become too personal. Making it less personal is more inviting in a video game. 3. I'll add 3..officers previously gave a reason to surrender or strike your colors. There should still be a reason to strike your colors. I'd say maybe save Crew if they weren't so cheap to acquire. Thoughts? Hutch global server
  6. 1. Rework the ship speeds like it used to be. WAY too many speed mods and additives now. Some ships are being too strongly preferenced over others. Variety of what we see and can sail is good for the game. YOUR POINT OF SAIL KNOWLEDGE should be more influential than speed additives. In fact speed additives should be reduced or more strength added to strength builds without sacrificing their speed 2. Towns should be more unique. I should want to have a reason to sail around and visit cool places. Maybe some items could only be available in certain towns. As of now they are all almost identical. 3. Back to #1. With more skill required more people will want to PVP. Now people know if they are being attacked it's by someone who has all kinds of mods/plays more/has more time. The fight and it's decider needs to be skill and point of sail knowledge based. I think even koltz could get on board with that. Hutch78
  7. Around 800 hours play time. Love the game and the new patch. I also love the newer ships. I know it's taken a lot of time to create all of these ships but any plan to go back and give the earlier ships a Rigging makeover? For instance the Le Hermione's Rigging and the Le gros ventre look great but after sailing them for a while a quick swap into the belle poule shows it's age a little. They are all such great ships admin but I find myself only sailing the newer model designs due to the visual difference. Thank you for all the great work. Hutch78
  8. I just spent the sum of the last two day trying to find coal. My nation is no longer able to provide it in the store and my production port was seized. I have two ships I was able to capture from AI. Thank god capturing AI ships is back, or I would have nothing to sail. Why in the world would I PVP, and likely lose, to try and gain a PVP mark? I need like 100 of those to get anything good. So I just sail around fighting AI bots for money I can't use on anything I need. FRICKIN COAL!! I was/am a level 41 crafter before the wipe. I haven't built a ship in 6 months!! How on earth am I supposed to get materials to build a ship now? I literally shudder to think what goes through the mind of a new player. It's not a grind, it's like scratching pavement with your fingernails thinking your making progress. Hutch
  9. I've always enjoyed the surprise and belle Poole size ships. I loved the LGV before the wipe when you could get one. Before the wipe I had leveled crafting up to 41 and was right on the brink of being able to craft my first third rate. Today I was able to sell my 1800 labor hours and craft some stuff for someone in my nation. It was the first time, post wipe, that I've made any money. Nothing to buy thought unless you want to sail a brig. ? Hutch78
  10. I've got an idea. 1. Revert back to pre wipe. 2. Still have rarity of ships 3. Keep one dura ships 4. Cannons are free or close to it like before 5. Allow capturing of AI ships up to a point. 6. Make crafting levels useful again!! i have over 650+ hours and have NEVER EVEN SAILED A THIRD RATE. I couldn't even join a port battle if I wanted to!!! We need to start a petition to revert back. And yes I've stopped playing. Back to AC black flag. They have cannons there.
  11. On second thought I think the Devs have tweaked a lot and should focus on content. A more authentic looking OW map. The explorer cards first shown on the naval action website. Stuff like that. Thoughts?
  12. Early versions of the game showed "Hail" for Hail ship. It would show the info once you pressed it. I'd love to see a feature like that again where you could hail a ship and perhaps they wouldn't respond. Are they enemy? Then you'd sail closer for a look at their flag. I'd like the OW speed decreased 20%. It seems way too fast to me. There should be more strategy in OW. Also more of a "striking colors" angle too. Ships were rarely sank back then. They were simply too valuable. You fought until one side struck their colors. Perhaps you'd lose your ship but retain your "ship knowledge"? Just ideas.
  13. Thank you Devs for removing the GPS!! It adds adventure and uncertainty. Just like they had back in those times. I would like to see "trading missions" that would reward gold. It's a good incentive to get people to use the traders and would create more targets for opposing nations. Perhaps create them in between free ports, because other ports can change hands. Also...the goods should be provided to you. In the past the goods you would acquire to do a trader mission were sometimes more valuable than the money gained from the mission. Or the goods were needed for crafting and were something you wouldn't give away , like live oak. Thanks again Devs for listening. We all want a great a well populated game! HUTCH78
  14. This has been a great thread to read and view. Thank you all for sharing your memories for those of us away from our computers at the moment. I've mentioned it before but I hope they do away with coordinates. It adds to the adventure. I've also come to the conclusion that perhaps since the day night cycle isn't synced to the clock.....just delete the clock!! It'll still look good!! All they knew back then was when "noon" was anyways! Simple fix!! Hutch78
  15. Wow. What a great topic. I completely agree that the compass really needs to go. It certainly added to the adventure and exploration. The game was great and I spent sometime on the test bed server. I think if they implement most of what is on the test bed the game will likely die. It's literally no longer "fun". It's become an impossible grind. And this is coming from someone who LOVES RPG's and grinding. Trade is also dead....traders aren't even worth capturing. Id say if things stay this way I'll hope for just a PVE standalone game and they can close the servers. There is literally no way to advance in the game. You can't make money so you can't trade. You can't purchase factories because your broke. So no ships for you. That means no pve OR pvp. Your literally "stuck". Everyone on the testbed server thinks this I'm pretty sure. 600+ hours here... playing something else but will monitor for another week or so. HUTCH78 British
